2011 IDP FA Frenzy Winners and Losers (1 Viewer)

There was a thread like this in the Shark Pool so I figured I'd start one for IDP'ers.

Losers:

JAX - Kirk Morrison and Russell Allen: The addition of Poz and Session pretty much says it all about these two. Allen was probably clinging to hope that he might get a shot at the WLB gig...not so much anymore.

ATL - Sean Weatherspoon (atleast for the time being): ATL resigned Mike Peterson, thus preventing Sean to run away with the WLB spot.

Winners:

IND - Kavell Connor (or Pat Angerer): With the departure of Session, one of these two guys will get a crack at the WLB spot in Indy.

DET - Justin Durant: This guy steps into the WLB spot behind one helluva scary D-line. If he can stay healthy he should be able to fly around the field wreaking havoc.

What else we got?

Careful on these.Weatherspoon should be fine, regardless of whether Peterson or Nicholas get the bulk of the snaps outside.Conner is the favorite to start at WLB, Angerer at SLB, I think. Neither may be consistent LB3 or better if Tyjuan Hagler returns and the Colts use him as their second nickel backer again this year.

I posted this on another thread, but I really like LaRon Landry with the 'skins addition of Atogwe. I picture him lining up in the three-point stance 99% of the time (exaggerating, but he'll be down low often).

thats no ####, he may be in coverage less than brian orakpo with atogwe's cover skills in centerfield

With Poz going to JAX is BUF looking to resign Whitner? If not will George Wilson step in and produce the same?

Derrick Harvey - DL - Jaguars

Jaguars waived DE Derrick Harvey.

Harvey was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2008 draft. It appears that the Jags just ran out of patience on Harvey after he lost playing time to Jeremy Mincey last season and showed almost no pass-rushing ability in three years. Harvey will get another chance thanks to his measurables, but we don't have high hopes.

With Landry officially moving on now, what can we expect from Zibikowski, is he trust worthy or do you think they try and sign another FA? That's a pretty nice SS situation there in Baltimore, one would think he could handle it.

Just read Crowder is leaving Mia, I picked up AJ Edds a while ago, could he be considered a strong winner here? I read it would be Tim Dobbins who'd likely see increased snaps here, but what does anyone else think?

And IF DET sign either Tulloch or Barnett, I assume the end would be near for Levy?
People are really underestimating how much the coaches like Levy. He will be a 3-down LB regardless of what the Lions do.
If I recall correctly, Levy played outside at Wisconsin, so adding a MLB might just mean they intend to slide Levy outside.
That's true but last year they liked his range and speed and with the new line he may be untouched by most blockers.

Edds missed his entire rookie year with an injury, so effectively this is his first season as a pro. He was drafted more for his coverage skills, so it's unlikely that he would be more than a third down linebacker and special teamer at this point in his career.

It sounds like Kevin Burnett is now in Miami, which hurts Edds.Does anyone have any thoughts on Stewart Bradley to Arizona? It seems like a good landing spot to me.

Anthony, why are the Lions being continuously linked to free agent MLB like Barnett and Tulloch so much if they are so happy with Levy?I am in a keeper league with Levy and really don't want to keep him if he ends up as an LB 4 or LB 5 but you seem to think that will not happen even if he is not the MLB. I just wonder what make you think the lions like him so much? Thanks for your time

So, what are we thinking of Session in Jacksonville?

I've always been of the mind that the moment he was no longer playing in a Cover 2 as the WLB his value pretty much disintegrated(and that doesn't even take into account the injury junk).

Anyone want to take the "pro" side of the argument for him as a Jag?

Levy will not be a LB4 if he plays 3 downs, even if it's not in the middle. Also, speculation is if they sign Barnett, he would play SLB. My only point is that people have made assumptions that Levy could be a 2 down LB and from everything I have read, that is not the case. I think LB3 is Levy's worst case.I think the reason the Lions are linked to Tulloch is his Tennessee connection with Schwartz, plus, there are not many good outside LBs in this free agent class. Levy can play inside or outside.

:goodposting: While I don't think his value is gone, I really don't see how it doesn't take a hit. There is a big difference between WLB with the Colts vs. WLB with the Jags.

I'm almost thinking Session gets a slight bump in value in JAX. Indy was a prolific offense scoring a lot of points and limiting opposing run attempts in the 2nd half. JAX, on the other hand, won't be scoring a ton of points this year (IMO) and Session might actually see an increase in tackle opportunities.

Cullen Jenkins to Philly will probably play him as tackle and rotational end. As such will he be a 3 down player?

Does Philadelphia have enough money for all these signings?

LOLThey still have money to play with. I doubt they are done and will probably get a couple mid tier LBs
