2011 Rookies (1 Viewer)

Speaking dynasty and/or 2nd half of 2011 in redraft. Not overly concerned with scoring format.

Normally at this time of year, I have a fairly high confidence level in the sleeper list (in dynasty, I'll equate sleeper to rookies likely to be available in later rounds of a rookie draft) which I have compiled for the upcoming season. I don't mean that I have everything nailed down or even that most of my list pan out. But I at least have the list of players I am watching and/or targeting whittled down to a manageable number. This year I am at a loss.

Heading into the NFL draft, most of the commentary that I read indicated this would be a down year talent-wise. However, personally, I have a sense that we will look back on this year's rookie class as an outstanding and potentially exceptional class. The problem for me is that most years, I have had a fairly clear tiering of (offensive) rookies and this year I cannot say that. The number of rbs, for example, that legitimately seem to have a shot at longevity of fantasy football relevance has my head spinning.

I make no claims of having watched video of most of the rookies. I am just a guy who does lots of research (ie, reading) of people I have come to trust (including the Staff as well as many of the forum folk here at FBG whom I consider very knowledgeable). My question is, would you say that:

[*]you agree with the impression I have developed in regards to this rookie class

[*]would you say that I have fallen for the post-draft/off season hype

[*]other (with explanation)

every year is a crapshoot. grab what you can and hope like hell they hit. :scared:

(video of players is readily available these days. you tube is your friend. seeing is believing.)

after reading i go with eyes and gut.

This year is especially interesting because the UFAs haven't been signed yet. Someone like Blount last year was on a few radars when he was signed by Tennessee shortly after the draft. But guys in that same category like Chad Spann, Graig Cooper, Noel Devine, etc... don't have homes yet and may offer very nice values late in Rookie Drafts this year.

Sadly (and honestly) I live on a remote part of an island. My internet connection is too slow to download video. :( So I am without that wonderful benefit of today's world. But what I was hoping for was others opinions as to whether this year they, as am I, are having more difficulty ranking the rooks. Or I am just being more affected by the hype than normal? The impression I have developed is that while there are not as many "sure" bets as some years, there is more depth and "staying power" with this group. Enough so that where normally you might take 3 or 4 rbs and hope 1 of them pans out... you might take 3 or 4 rbs and have a decent shot at 2 or (gulp) 3 of them panning out.
