But it wasn't just calvin for ingram. I did get back a 27 y/o borderline top ten wr in Marshall too. You could say the gap/downgrade between marshall and calvin is essentially what I paid for Ingram. I felt that downgrade was a worthwhile gamble, especially considering my team / roster / rb situation. It's a tough league filled with excellent owners, and especially tough to get good, young RB's in. Taking a risk for sure (because we're still not certain on Ingram), but it's a risk I'm ok with. I have Calvin in a 12 team league as well, and would not trade him for the same package. Much different situation there.

I wasn't necessarily commenting on your trade in general, just in the "buy low" comment, and all that really matters is that you like it. I happen to be an Inram fan - but when you trade a player like Calvin you probably shouldn't take on any risk (obviously every trade has some risk, but I think everyone knows what I mean).I guess how I'd look at it is in a start up dynasty league I could see Calvin Johnson going anywhere from 1.01 to 1.06. My guess (and it is a guess right now) is that Brandon Marshall would be an early third rounder and Ingram a late third or early fourth rounder. In those terms it just seems like you could have got better value. I don't know your league and how difficult the trading is, and this argument is based more on value than what is necessarily best for your team in the long run. Honestly for all we know Ingram could finish as a Top 5 RB next year and then this trade looks good.

I just wouldn't trade Calvin for such speculative value (especially when his value is at its absolute highest based on his 2011 season).

These things dont always turn out how we think though - so good luck.

No way to say who won at this point. If T Rich lives up to the hype, then yeah obviously you got the better end. Either way, with your depth that you are describing, I think its a good risk/reward move to possibly lock up the next ADP at the start of his career.

I think the issue is that Calvin is one of those few players that you can find an owner to overpay for in pretty much every league. Sure - there were a few configurations, but Gian essentially offered Vernon Davis, Welker, Knile Davis, Kyle Rudolph, and Meachum I think... that was the one I was considering (for Calvin and Nate Washington)Gian probably offered better value overall. But, it didn't address RB for me (this year). And we discussed this via IM - I'm generally not one to trade for value and flip (he is - he's really good at it, too). I trade more for my team. Probably not the best way to approach it, and I probbaly should work on that (after all, I typically never draft for need.) I mean, even though I didn't really "want" Welker, I could have traded him pretty easily (as Gian ended up doing).ETA - That's probably a good discussion to have - trade for "value" vs. trade for your team needs.

Yeah, I think it was a pretty even trade. Especially since McFadden is such an injury risk. But I couldn't resist the possibility of starting DMC along McCoy, and soon, Trent Richardson. Still having Britt and Austin at WR, I made a tough deal that's the epitome of boom-or-bust.

Well, the guy who runs team A is an alumni from Arkansas, and we all live in TN, sooo needless to say, he had McCoy as his 4th best rb in his opinion, and offered shady up to the league as trade bait after the season ended. He's going to have Luck/Newton as his qbs, Foster, McFadden, Cj at rbs, but with only Britt as his only real wr, if he gets a random wr to pan out, his team will be real scarey for a few years.

That 2nd trade is pretty bad in my opinion. Huge steal for Team B. I'd probably give all 4 of those guys just for AJ, to get Romo and Holmes also is great value.

Davis had a slow start this year but you can't argue the years of solid production.

Not sure you could find one person that would take Fred over Vernon. And it is a slam dunk. He is only going to get better. Did you not see the game vs NO. Cripes.

V.Davis has yet to hit 1K on the year and F.Davis was going to hit it in his first year as a starter (needed to avg ~50/game in last 4; given his YTD, that would be hit no problem). The NO game was impressive by V.Davis, no doubt, but SF doesn't play New Orleans every week (i.e., Smith isn't going to throw 40+ passes in a game very often). That's just not going to be a frequent occurence.

Yeah I'll still take Vernon. Another showcase of what he is capable of, and Fred is not.
