2012 Rookie Draft Picks. (1 Viewer)

A few things:

A lot of people are predicting a mass exodus of underclassmen this year because of uncertainty in 2012. I don't believe that will be the case not only because there might not be an NFL season in 2011, but also because a possible rookie cap will most likely only affect the top 15 of the first round (which is why I have guys like Luck in the 2011 list).

These are my opinions only and of course, I expect the juniors included to come out in 2012.

ALL commentary welcome.

Here are my projected top 14 (first round of a 14 teamer) in your standard PPR/non-IDP league for 2012:

1. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

2. Dion Lewis, RB, Pitt

3. Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma

4. Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

5. Ronnie Hillman, RB, San Diego State

6. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon

7. Jeffery Demps, RB, Florida

8. DeAndre Brown, WR, Southern Mississippi University

9. John Clay, RB, Wisconsin

10. Jon Baldwin, WR, Pitt

11. Terrelle Pryor, QB, Ohio State

12. Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

13. Chris Polk, RB, U-Dub

14. Matt Barkley, QB, USC

Have at it.

Richardson is miles ahead of the pack right now. LaMichael James, Jonathan Baldwin, and DeAndre Brown are considered potential 2011 prospects. I don't think all of those guys will stick around for another year. I definitely think James will bolt after this season because there's really not a lot of great RB talent in the 2011 class beyond Ingram.

7. Jeffery Demps, RB, Florida9. John Clay, RB, Wisconsin11. Terrelle Pryor, QB, Ohio State
No, no, no. Demps is fast and that's about it. Doesn't have the strength, size, vision, or elusiveness to play RB in the NFL. I don't buy Clay as an NFL back. He's a late rounder or free agent at best. Pryor is not an NFL QB. He can't pass.

I'm really not sure Broyles has the special qualities to be an elite NFL prospect. His statistics are impressive and homers always defend him, but from what I can see he doesn't really have any standout traits like elite speed or great strength. I see him being a Steve Smith North type at best. I don't see him being a top 3 rookie pick in 2012. Nevermind the fact that he'll probably be in the 2011 class.

Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State might be a name to remember for 2012. He's averaging 143 yards per game for Oklahoma State. He'll draw Dez Bryant comparisons partially because he has a similar build and partially because he plays for Bryant's alma mater.

Christine Michael is one to really keep an eye on. I believe he's right behind Richardson.

Bryce Brown - old UT running back, transferred to KState. Not sure when he'll come out, but he's another to certainly keep an eye on.

Michael Ford out of LSU. RS-FR - again, no clue when he'll come out, but he's a talent.

Mark CLayton was a much better prospect than Broyles will ever be IMO.

Christine Michael.....never heard of the guy but thanks for the name mom.

Dion Lewis at #2 is way too high right now. Anything can change between now and 2012, but Lewis has been getting out-played by his backup Ray Graham this year.

6. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon8. DeAndre Brown, WR, Southern Mississippi University10. Jon Baldwin, WR, Pitt11. Terrelle Pryor, QB, Ohio State
I don't think these guys are going back to school. No way Baldwin is. He's projected as a 1st rounder already for the 2011 draft. James is unlikely as he will probably go in the 2nd or 3rd round. Brown I'm not sure about but think he will declare. Pryor is a wild card. If he is projected in the 1st or 2nd round (not sure how likely that is or not) I think he's gone. It could also depend on how well OSU does.

As the previous poster above stated that Christine Michael (Texas A&M) RB should be a beast. He has good size & speeed. It's always tough to tell if they are going to translate but he looks a future stud to me.

Baldwin, Broyles, and James will be in the 2011 draft, not 2012.

Would not assume that at this point. None of those guys are assured a Day 1 grade, so why would they declare and risk sitting for a full year?
