Would kill to go to Heavy Montreal. Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Bad Religion, etc. etc. Unfortunately, I'm old and no one I know is willing to pop for the vacation time/$$$ to fly to Montreal and get 2-3 nights hotel, etc.

If you want to stay within walking distance of the Fox, Hotel Ignacio is a really nice relatively new hotel right by the Fox and Saint Louis U. If you want to drop a rack, the Four Seasons is right on the river downtown, walking distance from the Arch, Luminere Place, Laclede's Landing, Jones Dome, and not too far from Busch Stadium. It's the hotel of choice for visiting MLB and NFL teams.

Thanks. I think we're going to end up at the Four Seasons. I was also looking at Chase Park Plaza, but my wife didn't like how some of the reviews said it wasn't the safest neighborhood at night.

The Fabulous Fox looks like an incredible venue. Jack White is my favorite artist of all time...very excited!

If your stay was just an overnighter I'd push harder for the convenience of Ignacio. But since you're making a weekend of it and celebrating... Oh yeah, Four Seasons is the way to go. The Chase is a cool building with a fascinating history - among other things, a weekly NWA TV show, "Wrestling At The Chase", was filmed there in the 60s, 70s, and 80s - but if you wander a few blocks in the wrong direction the neighborhood gets dicey, like Clark Griswold trying to get back on the expressway dicey.

The Fox is a spectacular venue. You'll love it. There was an old Chuck Berry tribute concert/documentary filmed there way back in the day called "Hail! Hail! Rock And Roll!"

Sting/Paul Simon (March/Philly) - I am much more of a Sting fan, but was happy to put Paul Simon on my seen artists list. Both played their collection of hits and it was pretty well orchestrated how they guested on each other's songs and how neither was off the stage for more than 30 minutes. Decent show, but I wouldn't say I had to see it again.

Arcade Fire (March/Philly) - I have tried many times to get into this band, but just can't. Heard they were good live so jumped on the $25 uppers deal to see them. Still just don't get it. Lots of energy and I will admit that I did not know a single song, but normally even with artists I have never heard, I tag at least one song on Spotify during the show to get more into. Great cover of B2M's "MotownPhilly" in the encores though.

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue/The London Souls (March/New Brunswick) - Love catching TS&OA at Jazz Fest, but since there was a $18 Groupon, definitely worth catching them coming through. Great show and the opening band was solid. Of course, nothing like seeing them in New Orleans. But still solid.

Dave Hause/Northcote/Rocky Catanese (April/New Brunswick) - First time catching a show at Court Tavern, this was an afternoon slot that led into the dinner hours. Dave has great material and the full band overwhelmed CT at times, but really nice show. Northcote was an interesting opener playing acoustic and seems like there is a little talent there.

I dont like much of what Ive heard from Arcade Fire either, especially the last album, but surprised you wouldnt have done this for "Wake Up"....one of the best songs of this century.

Yes, Adam Lambert is going to be fronting Queen, taking the Paul Rodgers role from a few years back. Not a huge fan of either Queen or Adam Lambert, but the genesis of this appears to have been Adam fronting them in one-offs over the past few years http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/queen-and-adam-lambert-to-reunite-for-summer-tour-20140306. A friend saw the recent iHeart Radio show in Vegas and she said they were great together (also not a big fan of either) so when a $20ish option for tickets showed up, it was then an easier decision on a whim to check out the show.


I'll go back on AF and check out "Wake Up" again - I do remember from my brief research going into the show saying "that is the song not to miss" but I don't recall that one being a standout.

TPC is a very good live band. I'm not a huge fan of their latest album, but Champ is awesome and underrated.

I'm going to the Reggae Rise Up music festival in Salt Lake City in July. The lineup features Slightly Stoopid, the Expendables, Matisyahu, Stephen Marley, Fortunate Youth, and many others. My friend that I'm going with is a photographer and national street team manager for Matisyahu as well as a photographer for Slightly Stoopid, so there's a chance I may get all-access backstage passes.

I'm also going to Dirty Heads and Pepper at Red Rocks in August.

I just survived JazzFest for two weeks of fantastic music - The Mavericks and Robert Plant back to back being the biggest highlight -and the best afterfest show for me being at Botanical Gardens for Little Band of Gold(fantastic Band) and then Royal Southern Brotherhood doing"Exile on Royal Street" - which was RSB playing about 12 tunes from Exile on Main Street. Great band and a lot of fun in a beautiful setting.

Just saw Jane's Addiction on Saturday doing "Nothing Shocking" at Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas - another great show. I love that record and Perry was on fire as was Navarro. Just some huge crowd sing alongs - Summertime Rolls, Jane Says - great night . Then they came out and did about 4-5 off of Ritual including an on fire "Three Days". Loved the venue - it's in the LINQ. Hopefully they will continue to bring in good rock/funk acts into Vegas which sorely needs it.

Next show is Chris Robinson's Brotherhood here in Denver at Cervantes this Saturday - should be a smoke filled show.

I'm reliving the glory days of my youth with The Vandals, Bad Religion, Pennywise and the Offspring all coming together. Offspring have become incredibly bad but on this tour they're playing the entire Smash album. One of the first CDs ever purchased by a young HH, so I ll be checking that out.

I'll likely bolt after Bad Religion. I can't think of a single Offspring song I have ever liked.

I'm considering this for the same reason (good pop-punk bands and the Offspring's one good album)
