2014 DTBC - Pittsburgh Looks Real Nice (1 Viewer)

In looking at defenses you can get later but with really nice matchups, PIT has a ridiculously nice schedule to open up the season through week 11 before their bye.

CLE, @BAL, @CAR, TB, @JAC, @CLE, HOU, IND, BAL, @NYJ, @TEN

Out of those 11 matchups, really only IND would be a matchup I would avoid. Nicely, that Week 8 matchup can be mitigated by a one week pickup of OAK who is @CLE that week.

Weeks 12-16 are where its much tougher for PIT and unless they are pulling something ridiclous like KC last year, you can drop PIT at their bye week and start rotating teams with matchups.

One nice pairing is the aforementioned OAK who ends the season in weeks 12-16 with KC, @STL, SF, @KC, and BUF which is a really nice run. I am not as big on KC repeating their performance and think they will actually be in last place in the AFC West this year.

Another nice last few week run by one team is HOU who has the following weeks 12-16 schedule: CIN, TEN, @JAC, @IND, BAL. Not as big of a fan with CIN and @IND but those can be rotated out if needbe.

While I shudder to recommend this because IND burned me last year everytime I played them but IND also has a decent last few weeks with JAC, WAS, @CLE, HOU, @DAL all of which are very nice matchups with the exception of Dallas, but since that's in December you know Romo will be due for 3 turnovers that game.

I am definitely targeting PIT in my draft and I think they will be a huge part of a solid DTBC this year. If not PIT then keep an eye on another AFC North team in CIN since AFC North teams play the AFC East and AFC South, two of the weakest divisions in football, and the AFC North has a couple poor teams in CLE and BAL. Problem with CIN is you'll have to pay a much steeper price than PIT, but if you're OK with that then not a bad way to go either.

Pittsburgh DST should be alot better this year. Ryan Shazier (while VERY early) has been as advertised and should be a big difference maker as he should be the rare rookie LB that steps into a #### LeBeau defense and starts day 1. Mike Mitchell helps replace an aging Ryan Clark at S. Cam Heyward has emerged as a leader and should continue his breakout from last season. Steve McClendon has gained more weight/muscle to combat the rigors of a NT. Cam Thomas is a much needed swing man for DE and NT. Worlids has had a nice spring, as well as Jarvis Jones. Timmons is Timmons, the most underrated ILB in the business. Polamalu is not the player he used to be, but he can still show flashes that made him an all-pro S for years (granted he still has lapses that make you shake your head), incase of injury Shamarko Thomas is a promising S that is being groomed to replace said Polamalu.

The only area that wasnt addressed was CB, and while Cortez and William Gay were good as CB's, Ike Taylor was a disappointment. 5th rder Shaq Richardson is a nice sleeper option at CB
