2014 Masters Thread (1 Viewer)

Friday I'm leaving the wife and kids behind and driving to Arizona just to watch The Masters with my dad this weekend, who is 70 and lives alone.

One of those things I'll be really glad I did years from now.

On another note... I had no idea Faldo was such a ##### hound

Faldo met his first wife, Melanie Rockall, when he was 21. They married in 1979, but less than five years later they parted when she discovered he was having an affair with his manager's secretary, Gill Bennett. Faldo later said of his relationship with Rockall: "We were happily married for eight months. Unfortunately, we were married for four-and-a-half years."[26]

Faldo's divorce from Rockall came before his major championship successes, and her settlement was relatively small. He married Bennett in 1986, and the couple had three children: Natalie, Matthew, and Georgia. When Faldo moved to America in 1995 to play full-time on the PGA tour, Bennett stayed at home in England and the marriage ended later that year after Faldo began a relationship with 20-year-old American golfing student Brenna Cepelak. Gill Bennett later revealed that the births of their three children had been induced to avoid any clashes with Faldo's playing schedule. She said of Faldo: "Socially, he was a 24-handicapper."[26]

Faldo's three-year affair with Cepelak ended when he met Valerie Bercher. The spurned Cepelak famously battered Faldo's Porsche 959 with a golf club, reportedly causing damage of £10,000. Faldo's relationship with Bercher, a Swiss PR agent, began in 1998 when they met at the European Masters golf tournament.[50] At the time, Bercher was working for marketing company IMG. She left her fiance Olivier Delaloye and married Faldo in July 2001 in a lavish ceremony at his Windsor home, and they have a daughter Emma Scarlet (born 2003). It was announced in May 2006 that Faldo had filed for divorce.[51]

Good on you. I botched it and agreed to go backpacking/camping through Sunday and will probably get home around the back nine on Sunday. I got Luke Donald finally getting it done this year.

They gonna bother playing this thing anyway?

Will it be on network television? No, right?

Golf channel isn't running the round. There's streaming on cbs and masters sites. Featured groups and amen corner.

ESPN carrying live coverage at 2 CDT.

I always watch on masters.com on thurs and fri. A little dry because you have to select a particular group or hole to watch but you don't have to worry about logging into your cable account. Plus, it's thurs and fri... Dry coverage is ok

:lmao:

I was googling that just now and found some other Feherty gems

Dave Feherty

>

> CBS GOLF ANNOUNCER

>

> He said one day, "It would be easier to pick a broken nose, than a

> winner in that group."

>

> Feherty is a CBS and Golf Channel announcer, who finds very unique,

> colourful and uninhibited ways of explaining or describing whatever is

> on his mind ... (probably always on time delay these days).

>

> Feherty Quotes:

>

> "Fortunately, Rory is 22 years old so his right wrist should be the

> strongest muscle in his body."

>

> "That ball is so far left, Lassie couldn't find it if it was wrapped in bacon."

>

> " I am sorry Nick Faldo couldn't be here this week.

> He is attending the birth of his next wife."

>

> Jim Furyk's swing "looks like an octopus falling out of a tree."

>

> Describing VJ Singh's prodigious practice regime -

> "VJ hits more balls than Elton John's chin."

> (Thought I was going to hurt myself laughing at this one.)

>

> "That's a great shot with that swing."

>

> "It's OK - the bunker stopped it."

>

> At Augusta 2011 - "It's just a glorious day.

> The only way to ruin a day like this would be to play golf on it."

>

> "That was a great shot - if they'd have put the pin there today."

>

> "Watching Phil Mickelson play golf is like watching a drunk chasing a

> balloon near the edge of a cliff."

>

> "That green appears smaller than a Pygmie's nipple".

Is this live on TV anywhere?
I think if you have DirecTV those channels might be up and running, since they're mirrors of the Masters.com coverage. I don't think any broadcast networks (Golf Network, ESPN, etc.) are doing live coverage until 2pm.
