2014 Mock Draft - 2 Rounds (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I've updated my 2014 mock draft. This one includes rounds 1 and 2. Flame away.

1. Hou - Blake Bortles, QB, UCF - I find it extremely unlikely that this pick will be anything but a QB. Clowney would be the only other possibility but there are a few too many questions about his scheme fit and drive to be a great pro. Bortles would probably surprise a lot of people if he in fact went #1 overall but there are too many reports out there suggesting Hou likes him best of the QBs. Therefore, I'll slate him here.

2. St. L (from Wash) - Greg Robinson, T, Auburn - A month ago I was certain that St. L was going to trade this pick and they still might. I'm backing off that prediction now largely because I feel Robinson has elevated himself above the T pack, namely Mathews. I think he is clearly the best T in this draft and St. L moving down would greatly risk not landing him. They have a ton of picks already and it's not worth the risk.

3. Jack - Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina - Yes, the Jags need a QB. Unfortunately for them none are really worth this selection and Clowney is a generational talent they can't pass on. Jack had one of the worst pass rushes in the league last year and this will be a huge step towards correcting that.

4. Clev - Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson - In an interesting move, Clev decides to bypass a need at QB and take the BPA. Watkins is a dynamic talent and would fill a major hole in the Clev offense.

5. Oak - Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M - Oak needs a franchise QB and someone to build their offense around, insert Johnny Football. Many are reporting that Oak really likes this kid and I think they'd be ecstatic to land him at 5.

6. Atl - Jake Mathews, T, Texas A&M - With Clowney/Robinson off the board there are really only 2 players I see as feasible options for Atl here, Mathews and Mack. I'm plugging in Mathews because at the end of the day protecting Ryan is priority #1. Mathews is a plug and play guy who will start from day 1.

7. TB - Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo - With Mack slipping past Atl, TB can't pass him up. Mack is the best edge rusher in the draft, outside of Clowney. TB has a strong base in the middle of their D and adding a playmaker like Mack to the edge could do wonders.

8. Minn – Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville – Minn really lucks out in this mock. They are in desperate need for a franchise QB and the guy I think is the best QB in the class falls to them at #8.

9. Buf – Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA – Barr has slipped a bit recently but I don’t think he falls outside of the top 10 in this class. Buf could use a guy like Barr at WSL and post one of the scariest front 7s in the NFL.

10. Det – Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St. - I love this kid and think he’s the best pure cover CB in the draft. He has tremendous athleticism and shined at the combine last weekend. Det needs secondary help in a bad way. At 10 they get their pick of the top CBs and Ss. Gilbert is simply the best player overall.

11. Tenn – Haha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama - Perhaps the largest need in Tenn is S and it just so happens they get their pick of the litter at that position. Clinton-Dix has great instincts for the position and would provide an immediate boost to the Tenn secondary.

12. NYG – Taylor Lewan, T, Michigan – Eli was a man under fire all season long last year. Protecting him better is a major priority and the Gmen will address it with this pick. Lewan flashed some great skills at the combine and improved his stock enough be taken here.

13. St. L – Mike Evens, WR, Texas A&M – While S is a major need for St. L, finding a big bodied WR who can potentially transition into a WR1 is just as looming a need. Evens could certainly be that guy. He impressed at the combine, running better than expected and looking more fluid in positional drills than many thought he would.

14. Chi – Timmy Jernigan, DT, FSU – This pick could go 1 of 2 ways, Jernigan or Donald. Maybe I’m in the minority with this but I still believe Jernigan is the top 4-3 DT in this class and therefore, he is the pick.

15. Pitt – Louis Nix III, DT, ND – I’ve loved this fit for a long time and really believe there is a strong possibility of this pick happening. The Steelers D needs a guy like Nix in the middle to make the D work. Nix is IMO clearly the top 3-4 DT in this draft.

16. Dal – Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt – What, a run on DT’s? I guess so. Donald doesn’t fall any further than Dal, who has a gaping hole at nearly every position on the Dline. He’s the BPA up front and this pick just looks like a great fit.

17. Balt – Marqise Lee, WR, USC – Balt needs a complement to T. Smith and Flacco needs more weapons to throw to. Lee is the best available WR and one of the top playmakers in the draft.

18. NYJ – Eric Ebron, TE, UNC – The Jets would have loved to land Lee but Balt thwarted those plans. In the absence of Lee being available the Jets simply roll with the next best playmaker available, Ebron. Geno has to get some supporting weapons in order to develop and the Jets need to give them to him to see what he’s really got.

19. Mia – Zach Martin, T, ND – What an ugly situation the Mia Oline has become in a 6 month time frame. I feel this pick is a bit of a reach but Mia (who could look to trade down) is in desperate need of players on the Oline. Martin appears to be the best remaining guy.

20. Arz – Darqueze Denard, CB, MSU – Arz has a much larger need on the Oline than CB, but the value simply isn’t there at the position. With that said, Denard is the pick. Arz also needs to find a better CB2 to play opposite Peterson. With this pick Arz can hope to field one of the best secondary units in the NFL.

21. GB – Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville – Tough call here as there are 2 players I have rated highly on the board that are positions of need for GB, Pryor and Amaro. I see Pryor as the better overall player so he is the pick.

22. Philly – Kyle Fuller, CB, VTech – Fuller seems to be flying under the radar a bit. He’s a tremendous athlete whose ability didn’t always translate on the field at VTech. He had a great combine and I think he will continue to move up draft boards, enough that Philly takes him here.

23. KC – CJ Mosley, ILB, Alabama – The rich get richer here. Mosley should have gone a while ago but there isn’t much demand for ILBs in the NFL right now. He’s clearly the best prospect for his position and KC could use a guy like him in their LB focused front 7.

24. Cinci – Bradley Roby, CB, OSU – The CBs in Cinci are getting old, namely Newman. The Bengals need to find a replacement. Roby is the best guy remaining.

25. SD – Kony Ealy, DE/OLB, Missouri – The Freeney experiment was a bust. SD needs an edge rusher despite spending picks on it recently. Ealy is a great fit for the SD D and provides the boost they need.

26. Clev (from Indy) – Derek Carr, QB, Fresno St. - With Gordon and now Watkins teamed up on the outside it’s time for Clev to try and upgrade the QB position. Carr has dropped clearly out of the same stratosphere as the top 3 QBs but due to the high demand for the position should still land himself in the 1st round.

27. NO – Ryan Shazier, OLB, OSU – There are a ton of directions NO could go with this pick; OLB, WR, CB, S or even Oline. I’ll go with the OLB for now. Shazier is a solid player and choice at this juncture and he happens to fill a need for NO.

28. Car – Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU – S. Smith may not be back in Car next year and the WR position already needed an infusion of talent. Car can’t resist the playmaking potential of Beckham as he should give Cam an immediate upgrade on the outside.

29. NE – Ra’Shede Hageman, DT/DE, Minn. – NE takes the BPA in Hageman. He’s a guy who can play either a 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE. Either way, NE and BB will find a way to get this ultra-talented player on the field.

30. SF – Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon St. – SF pretty much needs to draft a WR here IMO. The position is rather barren for them as Boldin isn’t going to be making an impact much longer. On top of that, none of the WRs they currently have are able to create separation deep and challenge a D. Cooks can do all of that.

31. Den – Stephon Tuitt, DE, ND – Den needs to add some youth to their DE position and Tuitt is a pretty good value here.

32. Sea – Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech – The defending SB Champs get a luxury pick here that happens to be a great value for them. Upgrading the TE position would be a great fit for Wilson.

33. Hou – Cyrus Kouandjio, T, Alabama

34. Wash – Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB, BYU

35. Clev – Tre Mason, RB, Aubrun

36. Oak – Morgan Moses, T, Virginia

37. Atl – Dee Ford, DE, Auburn

38. TB – Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon St.

39. Jack – Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

40. Minn – Xavier Su’a-Filo, G, UCLA

41. Buf – Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Wash

42. Tenn – Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Ill.

43. NYG – Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB, GTech

44. St. L – Lamarcus Joyner, CB, FSU

45. Det – Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU

46. Pitt – Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

47. Dal – Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida

48. Balt – Marcus Martin, C, USC

49. NYJ – Davante Adams, WR, Fresno St.

50. Mia – Brandon Thomas, G, Clemson

51. Chi – Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise St.

52. Arz – Carlos Hyde, RB, OSU

53. GB – Troy Niklas, TE, ND

54. Philly – Carl Bradford, DE/OLB, Arz. St.

55. Cinci – Weston Richburg, C, Colorado St.

56. SF (from KC) – Bashaud Breeland, CB, Clemson

57. SD – Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska

58. NO – Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado

59. Indy – David Yankey, G, Stanford

60. Car – Keith McGill, CB, Utah

61. SF – Allen Robinson, WR, PSU

62. NE – Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford

63. Den – Dominique Easly, DT, Florida

64. Sea – Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU

Do you really see Cleveland going a clone of Beannie Wells again with their 2nd round pick. Seems like that pick would not be well received in Cleveland

Not sure I get you're point. Mason isn't a clone of Wells and Clev didn't draft him. If you mean Arz and Hyde, I don't think Hyde is the same type of player as Wells.

I did mean Hyde. Big physical runner out of Ohio St. doesn't catch the ball well and blocking will be a question mark in the NFL.

I think Ariz stays with what they have and Taylor get a chance to be the between the tackles guy

You could be right. I don't think Arians is going to have any allegiance to the current RBs though and he's got some history to liking RBs that are big and powerful as an OC in Pitt. I think Hyde is an upgrade to the current RBs in Arz so the pick makes some sense. Maybe Hyde isn't the guy and it's Sankey or whomever.

Overall nice job I really like Watkins to Cleveland at 4. He's he best talent at that spot and him and Gordon would be an amazing 1-2 punch. As a Packer fan I love the Pryor pick and absolutely hate the Niklas pick. This team has glaring hole across the entire defense and I hope and think Thompson goes defense, defense and more defense. They are fine on offense even with a potential defeciency at TE. Overall great job.

I don't like Evans to the Rams, I think they'll look at Ha-Ha in that area and if they have to trade up they just may (or down from that 2 spot). Really like the Mettenberger pick to Jax though and the other skills position picks seem to be pretty good fits. I like it, good job.

Disagree here.

I could be way off but I dont think Clinton-Dix will go that high it seems like safety and rb are always rated higher in mocks then they actually go in real drafts.

I like this mock.

Not sure if STL covets Robinson, but if so, his combine changed the trade down equation. Some people are even saying don't discount him as a possibility at 1.1 (though that is rarer than I would think, before last year, Jake Long may have been the only 1.1 LT since Orlando Pace - even Hall of Famers Ogden and Jones went 1.4 and 1.6). Though I read another scout state Matthews has the best feet he has seen in the past decade?

TEN has aging LTs and that is a more premium position than safety, so might be hard to pass on Lewan.

Evans might be hard to resist at 1.13. Fisher acknowledged they need to score more, so this could fit. Of course, he rose as much as almost anybody at the combine. If he is gone (and even if he isn't), I'd expect safety and CB top get a strong look here, as you noted with the former. Pryor and Dennard are very physical and seem like Fisher's type of DBs. If they drafted Dennard, maybe Jenkins would move inside in the nickel? Here it is Evans and Joyner with the 1.13 and second, Dennard/Pryor and Benjamin might be another interesting combo.

You are right that MLB/ILB has been devalued, though Mosley could be the best since Kuechly. I'd be surprised if he falls this far, but there are ominous rumblings about his medical eval. Reid never seemed to prioritize LB in PHI (though got Kendrick's in the 2012 second round), or WR for that matter, with Becham linked to them a lot. He seemed to be a lineman freak on both sides of the ball, as well as investing in the secondary a lot (though not sure he has as much personnel clout in KC as he did in PHI?).

Shazier would be an ILB in the NO 3-4 (multiple but predominantly 3-4, like NYJ, BUF now maybe CLE?)? He is up to 237 lbs. and showed a lot of explosiveness despite the extra weight with a 42" VJ (though unfortunately he didn't run). But there were reports he finished the season around 220 lbs. I'm not even sure he is as stout as David, let alone Bowman, as far as playing on the inside. Seems like a prototypical 4-3 WILL.

I realize Boldin ran a 4.7 (but improved to 4.59 at his pro day) and was still drafted in the second, but not sure about Landry. Benjamin, Robinson and Adams could all go in front of him.

XSF (UCLA guard/OT) had one of the best workouts for an interior OL and could go higher.

Verrett could also go higher due to the value of the position, even if he is strictly a nickel CB.

Yankey and Benjamin seem low.

Overall, really good job, much of this seems very plausible and a good job of fitting BPA with team need in a lot of cases.

New update post FA.

1. Hou – Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina – There is growing momentum suggesting that Hou wants to trade this pick, badly. To me this is an indication that they are not really in love with any of the top QBs in this draft and may not see them as worthy of taking #1 overall. I agree. Unfortunately finding a trading partner willing to move up to #1 will be difficult thanks to the depth of this class. With no good trade options available I don’t think Hou reaches for a QB and they default to taking the BPA. That player is Clowney.

2. St. L (from Wash) - Greg Robinson, T, Auburn – Like Hou, St. L will entertain trading this pick. In the end however, it’s just not worth the risk for St. L to move down and miss out on either of the top 2 T’s in this draft. They stay put and take the guy they see as the best Olineman in the draft. I believe that guy is Robinson.

3. *TRADE* Atl - Jake Mathews, T, Texas A&M - With 2 of the 3 players Atl highly covets off the board in the 1st 2 picks, they make a move to secure the last of “their” guys. Atl gives up picks 6 and 2015 2nd to Jack so they can move up and select Mathews. Mathews is a NFL ready T who will plug a massive hole in Atl’s Oline immediately.

4. Clev – Blake Bortles, QB, UCF – If Clev finds themselves in a position here to take the top QB on their board and of the draft. I think they do it. They cut both Campbell and Weeden so it’s clear they are going to take a QB at some point early. I’m not sure who that guy is but I’ll go with Bortles. Bortles would need some development time and I think he would get that behind Hoyer.

5. Oak – Taylor Lewan, T, Michigan – With the short term solution at QB of Schaub, Oak looks to address perhaps the biggest need on the team at Oline. Lewan has vaulted himself up draft boards with a strong offseason body of work and could be a day one starter for Oak.

6. *TRADE* Jack – Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville – Jack manages to trade down and still land a great player at a need position. Bridgewater has seen his stock take a bit of a hit based on his Pro-Day and I think Jack will be happy to scoop him up at 6.

7. TB - Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo – Mack is arguably a top 5 player in this draft and therefore, TB can't pass him up. Mack is the best edge rusher in the draft, outside of Clowney. TB has a strong base in the middle of their D and adding a playmaker like Mack to the edge could do wonders.

8. Minn – Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M – Minn can’t possibly feel comfortable entering the season with Ponder or Cassel leading their offense. Manziel is one of the most electrifying players in the draft and inserting him to their offense could be just the lightening blot they need to turn the corner.

9. Buf – Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson – I’m sure many are expecting Watkins to be off the board before now but in this scenario he isn’t. Buf won’t hesitate a bit to add the dynamic WR to their offense and give EJ more tools to succeed.

10. Det – Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St. – The best pure cover CB in the draft finds a home in Det. Det is desperate for help in the secondary and at pick 10 they will likely have their choice of the top DB on their board. I’ll go with Gilbert over Dennard because he’s the top rated guy on my board.

11. Tenn – Darqueze Dennard, CB, MSU – After being bypassed by Det, Dennard doesn’t have to wait much longer to get his name called. Tenn needs to find a replacement to Verner and Dennard is the top CB prospect on many boards. Really, this pick and Det’s could easily be swapped.

12. NYG – Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt – The Gmen did a lot of work via FA to address their Oline and it’s a good thing they did. All 3 of the top Olineman went in the top 5. With the Oline in decent shape, they now look to plug the hole on the Dline. Donald has sprung up draft boards like he’s playing Frogger.

13. St. L – Hasean Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama – I think St. L will look long and hard at Evans with this pick but eventually come to the conclusion that they can address WR later in the draft and S will be much more difficult to plug later. Clinton-Dix is the best player at his position and fills a major hole in the St. L defense.

14. Chi – Timmy Jernigan, DT, FSU – Chi has addressed the Dline by signing Allen but still needs an inside presence to complement that. With Donald off the board Jernigan is easily the best remaining 4-3 DT.

15. Pitt – Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA – This will be a controversial pick for sure. Pitt really doesn’t need an OLB but Barr simply presents too much value at 15, he’s a top 10 talent. Although Pitt has a bunch of other needs they can’t resist taking the clear BPA. They will worry about finding a way to get him on the field later.

16. Dal – Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri – After cutting D. Ware loose, Dal needs help along the defensive front in a major way. Ealy is one of the few pure 4-3 DE’s in this draft and has great edge rushing potential.

17. Balt – Z. Martin, T, Notre Dame – There are a few directions I could see Balt going with this pick; T, S or WR. Martin is the top guy on my board and a perfect fit to fill Balt’s hole at RT.

18. NYJ – Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M – Talk about a perfect fit. The NYJ will be running to the podium to get this pick in if Evans falls as far as I have him here. The NYJ desperately need playmakers in their offense and Evans will provide that. He’s a big bodied target with a huge wing span that will help their young QB.

19. Mia – Xavier Su’a-Filo, G, UCLA – This may be a reach of a pick as G’s don’t often get drafted this high. The circumstances in Mia are a bit extreme, though. Mia took a big step forward by landing Albert in FA but they still need to add quality players to their Oline. Su’a-Filo is the best possible solution and a safe pick.

20. Arz – Derek Carr, QB, Fresno St. – With perhaps the best signing in all of FA, Veldheer already added. This is a bit of a luxury pick for Arz. They use that pick to try and find a potential long term answer at QB. Carr has great physical tools and unlike his brother, will get a chance to absorb the NFL game behind a solid NFL vet Palmer.

21. GB – Eric Ebron, TE, UNC – There are 2 guys available for this pick that GB would love to add; Ebron and Pryor. Although S is a larger need, Ebron is the better player so I’ll go with him.

22. Philly – Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU – With the recent departure of D. Jackson there is a bit of a hole at the WR position for Philly. Beckham is an explosive player who Kelly would love to add to his fast paced offense.

23. KC – Marqise Lee, WR, USC – The glaring weakness of the Chiefs last year was playmakers on the outside. No team had a more difficult time throwing the ball downfield than KC primarily because their WRs couldn’t create separation downfield. Lee is a dynamic player who can address all that ails KC.

24. Cinci – Kyle Fuller, CB, VTech – Fuller is a guy who is flying under the radar but should be considered the clear #3 CB in this draft. Cinci doesn’t have many holes, but they do need an upgrade at CB.

25. SD – Louis Nix, NT, Notre Dame – This is a beautiful fit of BPA, scheme and need. Nix is easily the best 3-4 NT in this draft and SD could use an upgrade at that sopt.

26. Clev (from Indy) – Brandon Cooks, WR, Oregon St. – Having drafted their QB of the future already, Clev looks to add another weapon to support that growth. Cooks would be a great fit playing across from Gordon. Suddenly the Clev offense is looking good.

27. NO – Ryan Shazier, OLB, OSU – NO made a huge splash in FA by landing the overall top player, Byrd. They continue to invest in their defense by adding a playmaking OLB.

28. Car – Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville – Car fans will continue to scream as the Panthers bypass WR and take the BPA. The good news is that Pryor fills a major need at S for Car and really is a tier above the WRs available at this juncture. Car can land a decent WR in round 2.

29. NE – Ra’Shede Hageman, DT/DE, Minn. – I’m not changing this pick from the last time. NE takes the BPA in Hageman. He’s a guy who can play either a 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE. Either way, NE and BB will find a way to get this ultra-talented player on the field.

30. SF – Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU – SF needs a bigger, stronger and more explosive presence on the outside to take their offense to the next level. Benjamin could be that guy.

31. Den – CJ Mosely, ILB, Alabama – Mosely is the BPA at this spot and Den could use depth at OLB or perhaps a starter at ILB. I’m not sure which position Mosely will translate best to in the NFL but he’s too talented to pass up here.

32. Sea – Allen Robinson, WR, PSU – After the departure of Tate Sea could look for a replacement at WR. Robinson is really a luxury pick for Sea given they have few holes to fill.

33. Hou – Morgan Moses, T, Virginia

34. Wash – Bradley Roby, CB, OSU

35. Clev – David Yankey, G, Stanford

36. Oak – Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

37. St. L – Jordan Mathews, WR, Vandy

38. TB – Dee Ford, DE, Auburn

39. Jack – Cyrus Kouandjo, T, Alabama

40. Minn – Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois

41. Buf – Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU

42. Tenn – Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

43. NYG – Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida

44. St. L – Lamarcus Joyner, CB, FSU

45. Det – Davante Adams, WR, Fresno St.

46. Pitt – Stephon Tuitt, DT, Notre Dame

47. Dal – Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon St.

48. Balt – Marcus Martin, C, USC

49. NYJ – Gabe Jackson, G, Miss. St.

50. Mia – Antonio Richardson, T, Tenn

51. Chi – Trent Murphy, DE, Stanford

52. Arz – Carlos Hyde, RB, OSU

53. GB – Kareen Martin, DE, UNC

54. Philly – Carl Bradford, OLB, Arz. St.

55. Cinci – Jack Mewhort, T, OSU

56. SF (from KC) – Dominique Easley, DT, Florida

57. SD – Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech

58. NO – Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado

59. Indy – Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech

60. Car – Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU

61. SF – Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington

62. NE – Tre Mason, RB, Auburn

63. Den – Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington

64. Sea – Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame

Love your choices for Dallas. :hifive: I think they can trade back a little and still get Kony Ealy in the 1st while picking up another later pick.

Evans or Ebron could entice a team to move up a few and give up a late 3rd or early 4th.

I like the new one a lot, jurb. Can't see Bortles really going #1.

Hey you listened to me with Ha-Ha. Nice update here.

Pretty well thought out mock especially in round 1.

I will nitpick because I always do. I am wondering if Browns would prefer CJ Mosely to Cooks since they decided to jettison D'Qwell Jackson.

Good feedback. I actually thought about Mosely there to Clev and agree its a good fit. In the end I decided to place Cooks there because many times when teams draft a QB early they look to add support players to that young QB as well.

Fair Enough. My other issue would be with Amaro falling so far but I do realize that I like him a lot more than most people.

I don't think so. They have some depth there at OLB. They're without a legit starter at CB opposite Allen, however, and could use some quality depth (and eventual starter) at OT. WR is a bit of a need, too, but that is a R3 solution given the talent there.

1. Hou – Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina – There is growing momentum suggesting that Hou wants to trade this pick, badly.

Great effort.

Some notes:

- If Atlanta moves-up I think its either Clowney or Robinson.

- For as good as Lewan is rated as a player their is an off-field issue I'm not keen on. He could slip a bit.

- Saw recent report that Darques Dennard fits only or best in 'some' systems which could limit his demand/value.

- We disagree on Justin Gilbert's value, no biggie. I see him going a lil-later.

- Saw a recent report that Aarron Donald is limited to certain scheme. Could go later.

- Evans is a legit 6'4, 240 lb, guy. The only truly big WR of the first round holds value.

- After Evens, Ebron is the only other big receiver-type. I think he goes higher.

- RaShede Haggerman tested out much better than expected. Could go higher than most have projected.

Last few years we've had an average or something like, six/seven trades in the first round and all of the top-3/4/5 teams have said they would be open to trading down. I could see three trades going down in the top-ten picks and some team moving-up from the second round to try and land a falling QB and probably at least one other team looking to trade-up from the second or late first for a falling value at another position.

My thoughts on this.

1. I'd imagine Atl would like to move up for those guys but being void a 2nd this year they may not have that option. Especially if they go 1 and 2. There is a drop off after Mathews that is significant IMO. Atl would be wise to end up with him at least.

2. Lewan has impressed at every turn this offseason and at is an in demand position. Guys like him get pushed up every year.

3. Dennard is a great fit for Tenn IMO. So I don't think this is a thing to worry about.

4. Yeah we don't see Gilbert the same. No worries.

5. Donald isn't a guy I feel should go that high. I've been critical of him in the past but I think NYG is a good scheme fit.

6. Evans holds value, no doubt. In a deep draft unfortunately good players are going to fall. I don't like him dropping that far but then again there are other guys falling in this mock I'm more uncomfortable with.

7. Ebron just didn't prove as athletic as everyone thought and I think that hurts him.

8. Yeah, Haggerman is a great value there. Like Evans good players will fall. I feel much worse about that one than Evans.

Edit:

You're right that there will be multiple trades in the first. I totally agree. For the sake of mocks though I try to limit those predictions. It just becomes too muddled and complicated to try and forecast them all. I fully expect a volatile first round though!

I fully suspect that the Cowboys are going to move back. With Melton signing, even id Donald is there, I think they entertain offers from S.D. Clev. N.E. and S.F. Just really depends who's fallen. Manzel, Evans, Ebron or a CB.
