2014 Unheralded Fantasy WR1 Noone Mentions. (1 Viewer)

Soulfly3

Jermaine Kearse.

Is anyone watching football this preseason?

And no, it's not just because of this preseason, think back to the biggest stage in the NFL just a few short months ago... He owned it.

This guy is getting NO love. Being taking at pick 260 according to MFL, this guy can literally help win you a league.

Why the nonsense? Why the silence?

The 97th best WR in the league? Ya'll kidding me? Breakout campaign written all over it, and so many of you are late, or are going to be late to the party.

Get on board the Soulfly Wagon!!

AH! That guy!

Actually, I've been impressed with him. Little surprised, and I think this is an interesting call.

I'm not sure the SEA passing game is going to be big enough to support multiple WR talents, but at the same time, I'm not all that sure Harvin is going to be the best one.

I certainly like Kearse's pricetag a lot better.

Harvin, as talented as he is, cannot be trusted to play an entire season.

Nor does he have the frame to do what Kearse does.

Monster body, GREAT hands, and a RZ threat for an improving attak

I don't disagree with any of that.

I can't say I'm on board with anointing him a WR1, either for fantasy purposes, or on SEA, but he probably is undervalued, give how he's looked in that O.

Been a big fan of his since last years preseason when he had those long touchdowns. I acquired him in all of my dynasty leagues last year and I'm glad I did. No way would I take Baldwin over him in redrat leagues this year.

I actually like Baldwin over him myself, but you know how Seattle is. Multiple packages, never really can seem to tell who is gonna be out there and when. He's definitely worth a pick.

Maybe, maybe, he ends up with the best stats of SEA's WRs but what does that mean? 800yds, 5 tds? Any way you slice it he probably ends up a WR3 at best.

Lots of good sleepers out there. My favorite is Marlon Brown at the moment.

Jermaine Kearse ADP #224
Marlon Brown ADP #246

If theyre gonna pass in the RZ itll be to kearse

And theyll be in the RZ plenty.

10tds isn't outta the question, at all

BUT... Yardage wise, who knows... If SEA's defense regresses a bit, they may need to pass more often

Would like to see some preseason snap data on Harvin, Kearse, and Baldwin. Is there anything out there? They've had their first team in for the first half two games in a row, so it could be pretty reliable.

He will be 2nd or 3rd on the hawks reception list for the season. I would rather have Harvin or Doug Baldwin.

Were Harvin made of of steel, yes. Baldwin, no.

Kearse ends up the best Hawks WR for fantasy this season, imo

Im cool if you miss the boat on Harvin and Baldwin....I'll bump it later. Harvin had two serious injuries...much different from "nagging" things that hold them out week to week. The first few years in the league he hardly missed a game. Good luck this year.

In 2012 SEA passed 45.76% of the time, good for last in the league.

In 2013 SEA passed 47.29% of the time, good for last in the league.

I don't deny Kearse's talent, but I highly doubt the #3 on the team projected to pass very little this year ends up as a WR1. It's just not a good situation.

To put some context to these numbers... While they may have passed only 47% of the time in 2013,:

Wilson ranked 19th in total completions

16th in passing yards

9th in passing TDs

5th is yards per pass attempt (among regular starting qbs)

So.... Is Wilson elite? No. Servicable? Very.

And he's only improving his passing game if the preseason is any indicator.

Im buying in 100% of leagues on Kearse. You should too.

Seattle called pass plays 53% of the time last year. More than most realize.

Harvin is elite and IMO Baldwin is the most underrated WR in the NFL. Kearse is the clear #3 WR and that will be reflected in their targets, barring injuries.

Honestly, Kearse is probably best targeted by owners who grab Harvin early. Harvin appears to be healthy and ready to go this year, and I think he'll have a great year, but if he goes down, Kearse would step up and produce, well, not as well, but still enough to be startable as a WR3 or something.

I'm not a big Harvin fan but acting like he's made of glass is a mistake. Kearse is the WR3 for a team that will rank in the bottom 5 in passing attempts. Nothing to see here folks. Unless you play in a 16 team league.

One of these years, Seattle will loosen the reigns on Wilson and when that does happen, Seattle will have more than one viable ff receiving option. Not sure I want to bet on this year for that to happen but it will happen sooner than later.

I also do my own ranking, research and analysis.

We're talking about the 97th WR taken off the board here. There is no risk, and a really nice upside.

Wilson will be passing more. Guaranteed

If in drafting harvin and looking for insurance I think if rather go with the rookie Paul Richardson. In fact, if be surprised if Richardson doesn't supplant kearse (or Baldwin) as the #3 wr as the season goes on. He has desean Jackson upside and the coaches love him.

That said, kearse is definitely a sleeper. He's one of those wrs that goes ignored BC he's the #3 guy on a team that doesn't emphasize the pass in the first place so it's sort of understandable.

R.Wilson attempted 25 passes a game last year....I find it hard to find a number 1 wr with those few attempts.

Given the identity of the Seattle offense, I would not be opposed to drafting whoever I deemed as their number 1 wr, as a number 3 wr for fantasy purposes. That means that for my taste, Harvin is being overdrafted at his current price of wr 22.

Take a stab at kearse? Sure, why not. It costs nothing....well, but a roster spot :D .
