**2015 MLB Season Thread: This is how the chapter ends (1 Viewer)

Burns has room to improve, but I don't think it's too big of a stretch to see a potential 3+ WAR player with his ability to cover so much ground.

He showed amazing plate discipline in the Nats' system, so much so that it was borderline negligence to give him away for Jarry Blevins. But he hasn't gotten back to those kind of elite walk/strikeout numbers yet, and he's popping up a ton. His OBP is currently .363, but he's going to have to get better if he has any chance of sustaining that.

I don't know if other people care about Oakland, I would think they're an interesting team, but I'm biased. They have an interesting trade deadline to navigate, with two players who could net compensatory picks, a dreadful record, and yet being one of the best teams in the AL so far.

If Billy is playing ML Baseball in 2017 I'll eat my hat. His .371 BABIP and .095 ISO (both career highs) are unsustainable IMO. That 4.7% walk rate will catch up with him, lots of rolling out to 2B coming for the Burns.

ETA: I like the A's, I follow them closely ever since they were in Philadelphia.

Apparently I was looking up Billy Burns' ISO numbers last night :lmao:
They're not good. But he's fast enough to where a lot of grounders are going to be singles, and again, his walk rates in the minors historically have been pretty strong. I think he could be good not because he can sustain that BABIP, I think he could be good because he can legitimately improve.

Rick Porcello 4yr 82.5 mil extension. What the ####?
I thought he might get a deal a little better than Santana got, say 4/$65mm or so. I like him as a solid middle of the rotation guy for years to come, but that does seem a bit high.
It does seem a bit high. Obviously they are gambling that he becomes a solid 2 this year. And with the market for aces being at 25 million +, 20 million seems about right for a top 25 guy I guess
Not top 25...yet.

Pretty good chance Scherzer goes back to back no no's tonight.
I don't own much memorabilia. I do have at least three Autographed pictures though that are nice. The first is a pre headband Paul Pierce early in his career with the Celts. The second is my favorite Patriot of all time Drew Bledsoe in the classic blue I love. The third is a cool one that I got off an old timer like twenty years ago. That third one is...Johnny Vander Meer. Suck it Max!
