Unlike the regular season, Cleveland had time to make adjustments and physically wear down GSW.

Bringing in Melo is a terrible idea, and I'm something of a Melo apologist. For a Lebron team to be hit its potential, Lebron needs to be the PF. For Carmelo to be especially successful, Melo has to also be the PF. Neither should be playing center except in very particular situations.

I think 2015 Paul is a better fit than 2015 Irving, but I'm not sure that will be the case going forward. Paul is 31 with bad knees. After winning the title, I wouldn't make this trade if I was the Cavs, but I wouldn't necessarily argue about it.

If Lebron takes an especially low salary, they'll have tons of money to do whatever they want, but he wouldn't/shouldn't do that.

Trading Irving for Paul would be a horrible move. How many good years does Paul have left compared to Irving?

Paul is younger than James.  I don't think Cleveland should be worried about any "good years" Irving may have left in the tank once James is done, since (1) they likely won't matter when it comes to chasing a championship, and (2) they could well be played elsewhere.

Also Paul >>>>>> Irving, which is an important consideration.

Cleveland played good defense no doubt, but a reigning 2 time MVP should overcome that. He isn't an all time choker. He just choked pretty badly this one time. We'll see next year if it's a trend.

Out of my own curiosity, I added the mock draft positions from DraftExpress for all the above. Each of the projected lottery picks will be there. Ivica Zubac (#16), Juan Hernangomez (#19), and Cheick Diallo (#21) aren't going to be there. It could be an embarrassing night for Valentine, Luwawu (with a handful of teams with multiple picks, he's probably safe to get picked early-ish as a guy who could be stashed for a year overseas), Richardson and Beasley who have been projected to go all over the place. The rest of the invitees should be safe to go somewhere in the top 20.

LOL, did Curry slip on the sweat and hurt his knee because of the extra effort/games trying to win 73? The Finals games had multiple days rest between every game. The Warriors weren't gassed at the end of the series due to the record.

 
Not surprisingly teams are lining up.

The Pistons and Bucks are reportedly interested in unrestricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN is reporting that both the Pistons and Bucks sent scouts to the Cavs playoff games, and he believes that those scouts were analyzing Dellavedova's game. Both the Bucks and the Pistons could use a future 1st ballot HOF point guard, and Windhorst is reporting that they are prepared to offer Dellavedova something in the $500 million range as an unrestricted free agent. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Delly will be a 1st round fantasy option on either club.

The thing with Poetel is interesting.  I think that players like Draymond have shown that strong and quick trumps "big" when it comes to interior D.  Sure, lane cloggers like Steven ADams can be useful but how many big (and usually white) centers are there in the league that never get past being mediocre defenders (Aldrich, Zeller). There is a place for those guys, but taking them in the top 10 seems bizarre.

 
If Delly doesn't go to lob city, he needs a new agent.

I'll say this, the money that is about to be spent next week is going to really get some people fired. Can't wait.

Just saw a kid wearing a Curry shirsey.  I got in his face, put both hands around my neck, made really loud choking noises, and told him "THAT'S WHAT YOUR BOY IS!  A LOSER!"

I've actually had this thought too.  He seems fairly uninterested in Danny's POV most of the time and is much more engaged with other guests.  And then after Game 7, Danny made a comment about how nice it was that they got to watch the game together, and Duncan completely ignored it.  Not that I really care about Danny's feelings, but it is an odd dynamic that I notice sometimes.

 
what do you scanny guys think ellensen will do in the nba i like him but man i think he will look awful slow on d bromigos take that to the bank

Yeah.  Some players never even play in a game seven.  Some players play very few... maybe one or two in their career.  They're rare.  That's part of the reason they're so susceptible to variance distorting our view of certain players and their performance in those games.  You've also got players that play great in game sevens.  This, and the players who play poorly in those small sample of games, shouldn't be surprising to anyone who actually understands the concept of variance (don't worry, I'm not suggesting that you do).

I think that was his point.

Stating that Curry's shooting in the 4th quarter of game 7 is variance may be factually correct, but to fail to indicate what it is a variance FROM is incomplete and probably the point of contention here.  

Is it a variance from his career shooting?  From his normal 4th quarter shooting?  From his normal playoff shooting?  From his normal Finals shooting?  From his normal playoff game 7 shooting?  From his normal Finals game 7 shooting?  Since the last question has no other samples to draw from, to simply call it variance is to ignore that it was his only 4th quarter of a Finals game 7.

I personally don't think Curry choked, but that he was dealing with physical issues that he hadn't been dealing with all season and didn't have the physical ability to make the shots he had made throughout the season.  Hence the variance from his normal shooting rates.

You could probably find 100+ examples of Curry having a stretch going 1 for 6 with a couple turnovers over a 12 minute span. It happens to him and every other player. Except Jordan. Jordan never missed 2 in a row.
