Duncan podcast is so good. That reminds me, Nate Duncan had one of the DraftExpress dudes on his podcast yesterday, and it was pretty good. Duncan was fairly pro-Brown because of the skills he's flashed, and because Cal just had a weird, big team this year with no spacing.
Sammy3469 said:This isn't that hard, both OKC and Cleveland forced Curry exploited Curry on defense (the Lebron-Smith and Irving-Smith) were 2 of their 3 favorite sets all series long. Once they knew they could exploit that especially with Bogut out, GSW had trouble not giving up good shots.
On the other end, they repeatedly tried to run PnR with Curry and a big, but unless it was Love (save the last possession of Game 7), both Lebron and Thompson (who is a very good to great PnR defender since he moves his feet very well) can shut it down and force ball movement to Barnes, Iggy, or Green. Green responded in some games, but the other 2 were dumpster fires for the most part.
Unlike the regular season, Cleveland had time to make adjustments and physically wear down GSW.
Bringing in Melo is a terrible idea, and I'm something of a Melo apologist. For a Lebron team to be hit its potential, Lebron needs to be the PF. For Carmelo to be especially successful, Melo has to also be the PF. Neither should be playing center except in very particular situations.Heard the Lebatard show discussing if/how Lebron could build a super friends team in Cleveland now and wondered if any resident capologists could weigh in.
The idea would be along these lines: trade Irving for Paul, trade Love for Carmelo, let JR walk, Lebron agrees to play for nothing since he is getting $1B from Nike and doesn't need the money, sign Wade. They would still have Thompson, Shumpert, Frye, Mo Williams, and Dahntay Jones. Maybe they would re-sign Mozgov...
Is this doable? How good would this team be in comparison to this year's Cavs on offense and defense?
Trading Irving for Paul would be a horrible move. How many good years does Paul have left compared to Irving?Heard the Lebatard show discussing if/how Lebron could build a super friends team in Cleveland now and wondered if any resident capologists could weigh in.

Terrible player now. Sorry. Is it at all possible that Cleveland just played good defense on Curry, or is he an all-time choker forever like Greg Norman?
Until he proves otherwise, he's a choker. Peyton was before he won a ring. So was Lebron. Is it at all possible that Cleveland just played good defense on Curry, or is he an all-time choker forever like Greg Norman?
Great stuff.Until he proves otherwise, he's a choker. Peyton was before he won a ring. So was Lebron.
I think the default position should be neither Poeltl-chip nor Sabonis are future NBA starters...at least for several years. I think Sabonis is rotation ready at least...probably Poeltl too.mr. furley said:
Sorry, but 1 for 6 shooting with costly turnovers in the fourth quarter of game seven, is the very definition of a choker. That's Paul Norman bad. He officially has something to prove going forward.Great stuff.
Yeah, whole thing is pretty dumb and should be ignored imo.Bringing in Melo is a terrible idea, and I'm something of a Melo apologist. I think 2015 Paul is a better fit than 2015 Irving, but I'm not sure that will be the case going forward. Paul is 31 with bad knees. After winning the title, I wouldn't make this trade if I was the Cavs, but I wouldn't necessarily argue about it.
If Lebron takes an especially low salary, they'll have tons of money to do whatever they want, but he wouldn't/shouldn't do that.
No. Its called variance.Sorry, but 1 for 6 shooting with costly turnovers in the fourth quarter of game seven, is the very definition of a choker. That's Paul Norman bad. He officially has something to prove going forward.
Paul is younger than James. I don't think Cleveland should be worried about any "good years" Irving may have left in the tank once James is done, since (1) they likely won't matter when it comes to chasing a championship, and (2) they could well be played elsewhere.Trading Irving for Paul would be a horrible move. How many good years does Paul have left compared to Irving?

Cleveland played good defense no doubt, but a reigning 2 time MVP should overcome that. He isn't an all time choker. He just choked pretty badly this one time. We'll see next year if it's a trend. Is it at all possible that Cleveland just played good defense on Curry, or is he an all-time choker forever like Greg Norman?
Pretty bad time for a great shooter to have so much 'variance'.No. Its called variance.
Out of my own curiosity, I added the mock draft positions from DraftExpress for all the above. Each of the projected lottery picks will be there. Ivica Zubac (#16), Juan Hernangomez (#19), and Cheick Diallo (#21) aren't going to be there. It could be an embarrassing night for Valentine, Luwawu (with a handful of teams with multiple picks, he's probably safe to get picked early-ish as a guy who could be stashed for a year overseas), Richardson and Beasley who have been projected to go all over the place. The rest of the invitees should be safe to go somewhere in the top 20.19 Player Green Room for the Draft:

LOL, did Curry slip on the sweat and hurt his knee because of the extra effort/games trying to win 73? The Finals games had multiple days rest between every game. The Warriors weren't gassed at the end of the series due to the record.DallasDMac said:So Curry was gassed, but it wasn't because he played games and minutes? Unnecessary ones at that? Ok, makes perfect sense.![]()
In non-news, LeBron tells cleveland.com he'll be back with the Cavs next season.
Seems like a good gamble for one of the multi pick teams somewhere in the 20'sWhere's Thon Maker end up?
Not surprisingly teams are lining up.
The Pistons and Bucks are reportedly interested in unrestricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN is reporting that both the Pistons and Bucks sent scouts to the Cavs playoff games, and he believes that those scouts were analyzing Dellavedova's game. Both the Bucks and the Pistons could use a future 1st ballot HOF point guard, and Windhorst is reporting that they are prepared to offer Dellavedova something in the $500 million range as an unrestricted free agent. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Delly will be a 1st round fantasy option on either club.

I love it overall but the way he always talks over Danny gets on my nerves a little.Duncan podcast is so good.
I thought he was going to LA.In non-news, LeBron tells cleveland.com he'll be back with the Cavs next season.
Here you go.Can we get the draft thread started up while the mini-Skips punch themselves out in here?
Uggh gross, I'll pass on Poetl thank you very much. No need for another below the rim plodder. I don't think he's a fit for the Bucks, but I like Hammond's game. Someone forward that link to John Hammond please.mr. furley said:
I've actually had this thought too. He seems fairly uninterested in Danny's POV most of the time and is much more engaged with other guests. And then after Game 7, Danny made a comment about how nice it was that they got to watch the game together, and Duncan completely ignored it. Not that I really care about Danny's feelings, but it is an odd dynamic that I notice sometimes.I love it overall but the way he always talks over Danny gets on my nerves a little.
I have ceased to livePretty bad time for a great shooter to have so much 'variance'.
Yeah. Some players never seem to suffer from game seven variance.jordan would save his variance for unimportant games that's why he was so godly. i often wonder why more players don't do this
Yeah. Some players never even play in a game seven. Some players play very few... maybe one or two in their career. They're rare. That's part of the reason they're so susceptible to variance distorting our view of certain players and their performance in those games. You've also got players that play great in game sevens. This, and the players who play poorly in those small sample of games, shouldn't be surprising to anyone who actually understands the concept of variance (don't worry, I'm not suggesting that you do).Yeah. Some players never seem to suffer from game seven variance.
I think that was his point.my favorite part is how he put the single quotation marks around variance for emphasis, as if it's not a real thing.

WOJ BOMB!!!
You could probably find 100+ examples of Curry having a stretch going 1 for 6 with a couple turnovers over a 12 minute span. It happens to him and every other player. Except Jordan. Jordan never missed 2 in a row.I think that was his point.
Stating that Curry's shooting in the 4th quarter of game 7 is variance may be factually correct, but to fail to indicate what it is a variance FROM is incomplete and probably the point of contention here.
Is it a variance from his career shooting? From his normal 4th quarter shooting? From his normal playoff shooting? From his normal Finals shooting? From his normal playoff game 7 shooting? From his normal Finals game 7 shooting? Since the last question has no other samples to draw from, to simply call it variance is to ignore that it was his only 4th quarter of a Finals game 7.
I personally don't think Curry choked, but that he was dealing with physical issues that he hadn't been dealing with all season and didn't have the physical ability to make the shots he had made throughout the season. Hence the variance from his normal shooting rates.
