2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (2 Viewers)

One thing about LeBron to Miami- he sort of revealed that the "secret" motivation he had last year and presumably this year was that someone told him he was making the biggest mistake of his career in leaving Miami.  So: (1) that sure sounds like something Riley would say (and remember Riley made that comment about smiling faces with hidden agendas), and (2) even if not, it's hard to imagine that if that LeBron would go from taking that comment as significant motivation to essentially admitting that it was at least partially correct.

Why would Lebron leave his current setup for a team that may at best be the 4th best team in the conference?

Its almost like the Cavs don't have Irving, Love, Thompson, and the ability to resign Smith.

Maybe he wants to play his last 5 or so years in the league with his best friends.  Maybe he wants to carry even less of the load during the regular season.  Maybe he has no desire to be in Dan Gilbert's employ any longer than was necessary to etch his place in history (this would definitely be understandable).  Maybe he doesn't want to be subjected to endless political ads in Ohio this fall. There are a ton of reasons he might want to leave.  And tons of reasons to stay too.

Also I'm not sure an Irving/Love/Thompson/Smith foundation (+ zero cap flexibility) is all that impressive without LeBron. Plenty of teams could match or better that.

San Diego is now the most cursed sports city

Seasons without major pro sport title

San Diego 109 (52 Chargers, 47 Padres, 6 Clippers, 4 Rockets)
Buffalo 103
Minneapolis 91
Milwaukee 90
I could see an argument that the Clippers and Rockets are ancillary since they were there for such short periods... but, on the other hand, Buffalo made it to the championship games/series much more often than San Diego over these periods. And we already know the Padres are in progress on season #110.

San Diego wins! :(

milwaukee sort of has the packers tho at least that is how i look  at it so it is ok being in wisconsin except for the winters that is all i am sayin bromigos take that to the bank

Congrats Lebron....you've FINALLY made all of those people, who for the past few years mentioned your name alongside MJ not sound like complete idiots.  I tip my hat to you and you finally have my respect.  I'm just glad you won as the Alpha Dog in Cleveland...instead of on another superstars team.  *cough* MRS.WADE *cough*

I'd be stunned if Lebron left Cleveland.  What would be better for him than bringing multiple titles to that town?  He could play in Toronto and his brand would be just fine.  What's he gain from leaving?  I think he likes being viewed as a hero vs the villain he was in Miami.

No chance he leaves.

I have a great time every time I go to Cleveland. Of course I pretty much stick to the downtown area where most of the attractions and sports arenas are.

The most credit I can give LeBron...is that at least he's cut out that flopping s*** Wade taught him since he left Miami. The league is better for it.

Are you really going to stick with that even though Lebron was 2-time league MVP and 2-time finals MVP with Miami?
Sure.....this CLE team is his..... the MIA team wasn't.  That he won MVP's in his time there doesn't neccessarily make the team his.

The kid has matured.  He's now the guy who wants to carry the team. He put it on his back and willed this championship.   He wasn't always that guy in MIA.

James was possibly one of the best 100 basketball players in the world at the age when Jordan was cut from his high school team.

And yet James still averages more PPG than Bryant did.

So to summarize, Bryant was a better shooter, but James is better at scoring, rebounding, assisting/ passing, defending, blocking shots and forcing turnovers.
The other rebounding, defending (at least on a 1-5 can defend any position basis), and blocking are dumb comparisons though. That's apples to oranges with respect to body size and body makeup.

Are you trying to count it against Lebron that he is stronger than everyone else at his position?

He also is smart enough to know that Kyrie needed to take the big shot last night when his jumpers weren't falling.

Is Toronto really considered that bad a place to play?    :kicksrock:

Where is the stat that accounts for his hair line fiasco or pretending he had a compound fracture before draining two free throws last night?
You know when your carpal tunnel kicks in but you still find a way to type that slick burn?  That's exactly how injuries work in sports too.

Also, he missed the first free throw.

Why do you guys respond to these idiots? Such awful bait they throw out and they don't even do it well.

i want to say lets do a top five nba thread trolls list but right now it is like hot take central in here so maybe lets wait a couple o weeks and then give it a crack take that to the bank bromigos

Obviously I'm a huge Kobe fan, huge Lakers fan. Kobe is one of the greatest players ever, and I will always have a place in my heart for him.

I think LeBron is better. I think LeBron might be better than Michael Jordan, but the truth is I'm just not smart enough about basketball to know.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't LeBron James about the same age Jordan was when he won his third?
Yes.  LeBron just finished his age-31 season.  Jordan's age-31 season was 1993, when the Bulls beat the Barkley/KJ/Majerle Suns to win their third straight title.

Jordan's age-32 and age-33 seasons were the baseball sabbatical.

Jordan's last season with the Bulls was age-36.
