2015 New York Giants - WK10 Cruz announces season ending calf surgery (1 Viewer)

Any word on Cruz? Still crippled and not even running. About to be droppable in most redrafts.

Oops. Title made me think this was a Cruz thread. Apologies, but still a valid question for Giants fans.
Word from Rotoworld is that he's expected to be out till about week 4. Last word from the Giants is that he's been running in a pool.

I'm concerned it is compartment syndrome which is what spelled the end for Nicks.

@TomRock_Newsday

TC says he won't make any decision on Preston Parker's role until after practices this week. Says DHarris will get more opts this week.

@JamesKratch

Just to clarify: Coughlin does not say Parker has lost spot.

Moving onto Atlanta. What is everyone expecting this week?

I am hoping that the offense wakes up this week. Atlanta’s defense seems to be approved and is definitely more aggressive than they have been in the past. It looks like they will test our offensive line with more blitz looks.

The Atlanta offense is good and will be a challenge for the Giants. Julio is a beast and Roddy is still good. Those two will pose an issue for our secondary. Good thing is that the Falcons don’t seem to have a receiving threat at TE so the Giants should be able to give help on the outside when needed.

The Falcons rookie RB looked good last week as well.

It will be interesting to see if some of the blitzes that didn’t work against Dallas will work against Atlanta. I’m sure Ryan will be able to notice them like Romo did but Atlanta’s offensive line isn’t nearly as good as Dallas’

I think the Giants were concerned about stopping the run with Dallas, so the only had Moore in on 19 snaps. They got more pressure on Romo when he was in. Maybe they can get him in more against Atlanta.

QB Eli Manning increased his career passing yards total to 40,240, which moved him one yard in front of Johnny Unitas (40,239) and into 14th place on the NFL’s career list. Manning is the 15th player in history to pass for at least 40,000 yards.

Another disappointing loss this week! This team doesn’t know how to finish …yet.

I am going to remain optimistic that they will get it together and start winning some games…which better start this Thursday.

that might have been the worst OL they face all year. The D didn't get enough done

By this team do you mean Eli and Coughlin????

Because the rest of the team is doing everything they can to win and these two nitwits keep finding ways to lose.

It's really a shame because the rest of the team are playing there asses off and the coach and the QB, the supposed leaders of the team with the most experience, can't get their crap together!!!

It's fkng disgraceful and someone should be held accountable !!!!!!!

You mean the TWO TIME Super Bowl winning coach and MVP?

Would you rather have Kelly and Bradford?

Or Gruden and Cousins?

Maybe go across town and grab Boles and Fitzpatrick?

Garrett and Wee-done looking good?

It's two games in a division that looks more and more like 8 wins can take it.

I'll take my chances with what The Giants have.

If they go 0-4 and don't show any improvement, then you can look to clean house.

But if they get to 2-2 and Cruz,Beason and JPP can get and stay on the field, what a different looking team they'd have then.

Glass half full my friend. :banned:

Realistically what do you think is going to happen with Coughlin and Eli?

The Giants aren’t the type of organization to fire a coach in the middle of the season so I don’t see Coughlin leaving anytime soon.

Eli just got a new contract so he isn’t going any place either plus I don’t think Nassib would be any better.

Thanks to the injuries the Cowboys are suffering the division is a mess and is within reach

0-2 sucks no doubt but it’s not the death sentence

The defense has given up 10 point leads in the 4th quarter and that sucks too but we knew the defense was going to be suspect going into the season.

Giants cut WR Preston Parker
Thank god.The James Jones thing is unforgivable IMO. They couldn't find a role for him on this team? Really?
Word up here is that they kept Parker because of his role on special teams (that Jones could not fill). Not agreeing with the logic, just sharing it. Think you can find a fill in more easily there, but just my opinion.

I wasn't pretty but they won. Showed promise. Dropped balls still killing drives. Could have been a blow out if they didn't have so many mental mistakes.

They get Cruz back and the D gels a little more they could win the East (which isn't saying much, but still).

No question. And once they're in the playoffs, pretty much a lock to win the super bowl, probably vs. the Pats.

Much needed win last night

They didn’t run the ball well at all and the drops were bad but they got the win

The reshuffled offensive line played better than I expected with respect to pass protection. I don’t recall Eli being sacked last night. Eli was throwing a lot of short quick passes so getting rid of the ball quickly helps the line.

The defense played well against the run last night which was good to see.

The lack of pass rush concerns me they get almost no pressure on the QB

Like I said much needed win …make me a little mad knowing this team should be 3-0 right now though

Grabbed Cruz yesterday after seeing him dropped to the wire this week. Hopefully he will be what Randle was last night only better and with salsa! :football:

The WR 3 position has been a real dumpster fire for the Giants. First Parker can't catch a cold then Harris makes boneheaded plays (and can't catch a cold). Getting Cruz back will be a huge bump for this offense as a whole. Even if he isn't the athlete he once was he will know his assignments and catch what is thrown his way.

Carl Banks said that Moore was beating his man all night. The problem is that Moore would then move to where he was getting blocked again. Said Demontre, "Wasn't moving with a plan."

The former Giants players that are now commentators keep say that it's all mental errors. Stuff easily fixed. Like Donnell's unexplainable and inexcusable back flip. All he did was tackle himself. Does he really think he's so athletic, that if he landed on his feet he'd have kept going? I think he's afraid of getting hit. A stiff arm at that defender could have gotten more yards, possible gotten him into the endzone.

Maybe it's because I drafted him in both leagues, but if healthy, I think Cruz has the chance to put up spectcular numbers in this offense. He will be a short route safety valve for Eli and ODB (who still can't be covered) will draw a lot of heavy coverage. Hard to start him next week, and many teams probably don't need to, but he could easily jump into the heavily targeted high WR2 conversation.

I'm hoping he has no setbacks. If healthy and back to pre-injury form, it will keep safeties from rolling coverage to OBJ so quickly. Game plan for Washington last night was to keep everything in front of them. If Cruz comes back healthy, teams will be forced to get their DB's up closer to the line which should open up the deep game.

We still don't know what Cruz is, does he still have his RAC ability or will he now be a guy that catches the ball and doesn't get much after that? If he has no set backs, I believe this will be the first week he actually practices with the team other than individual position drills. I'm eager to see what Cruz can/can't do.

@art_stapleton Rueben Randle said teammates could see Victor Cruz was a bit tentative when he had to push off the calf + go full speed up field. #Giants

@ebenezersamuel Hugely important to realize what Rueben Randle was indicating: Even when Victor Cruz was out there, he didn't have his full burst.

@ebenezersamuel Rueben Randle said Victor Cruz looked OK running routes. Did not have Cruz-ian burst when turning upfield. Big part of Cruz's game missing.
