***2015 NHL Reg Season*** Gostibehere best prospect ever (3 Viewers)

savvy move by NBCSN to fake technical difficulties to try and show another game during the 3rd period last night. that game was borderline unwatchable.

500 for Ovechkin. Team looks great for the second of back to back games
The thing was both teams were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights but it really wasn't a question as to who wanted this one more and who had the better jump.Team was fired up to get Ovie his 500th and he delivered.

How about how well Chimera has been playing?Oldest guy on the team who does nothing but show up every game with his work helmet on and delivers. If he only had better hands he would be a better goal scorer through his career but no doubting his wheels, the man skates with a purpose.

7 guys with 10 or more goals at mid-season is also telling of how well other lines are chipping in for them right now.The down low play where the Caps have Backstrom/Oshie and either Kuzy or MJ90 is a thing of beauty.Teams try and take Ovie out and leave a 3 on 2 down low and they are making them pay dearly for this.

"Ohhh the Sedins are pointing fingers now... Normally they only use their fingers to lick peanut butter off their bread".

Wtf?!
Potvin is a terrible color analyst.

But WTF was Dorsett doing challenging the backup goalie?
Who knows what happened. Potvin immediately blaming the Canucks is pure homerism.

NB: I hate the Ca-####s.

I watched the Canucks feed last night when it was happening, and they kept saying Henrik Sedin initiated it somehow but replays never even showed him in the frame from what I could tell.

Anyone going to be in Nashville for All Star festivities?

Pretty sure I'm going to the Skills Challenge, if I'm to believe a contact. Will also see if there's anything cool in regards to FanFair.

:excited:

Nice stuff from Elliotte Friedman on Ovi:

Everybody’s got their favourite Alex Ovechkin stats. Here’s the wildest one, to me: There is only one player from his draft year within 300 goals of his 501. That’s Evgeni Malkin (287). The next closest is Andrew Ladd, with 195.

The second-place guy from his draft year is 306 scores away! It’s just obscene. By comparison, Eric Staal (320) leads Corey Perry by eight among 2003 selections and Kopitar trails Sidney Crosby (314) by 84 from 2005.

If you took his career total and put it up against every other round of that 2004 class, he’d outscore seven of them by himself.

The other crazy thing about Ovechkin is he’s third on the active list behind Jaromir Jagr and Jarome Iginla.

Look at the guys behind him, and how many goals they had when he started. Patrik Elias had 207 before Ovechkin played an NHL game. Marian Hossa had 188, Patrick Marleau 153, Lecavalier 146 and Shane Doan 142. He’s lapped them all.
I'd be interested to see how his and other all-time top scorers averages compares to the overall scoring average for their times. Feel like he's putting up these numbers in the NHL equivalent of a dead ball era.

Vancouver reporter trying to figure out what happened. It looks like the peanut butter line is here to stay.

Don't hold your breath, Zac

But Rinaldo had his mind on what awaits him on Wednesday night at his old Wells Fargo Center home, and what kind of reception he’ll get from the fan base. One would think that Rinaldo would be a fan favorite given his physical style of play and his fearlessness on the ice, but the left winger didn’t sound so sure about that.

I’m just hoping for some positivity,” said Rinaldo. “I put my heart and soul into that team. I do that for every team, though. I do that for the Bruins now. It wasn’t just for the Flyers. But I put my heart and soul into the team, and into the city…so a little positivity would be nice.”

One thing that might complicate matters when it comes to his reception: the thunderous hit Rinaldo dropped on Sean Couturier back in Boston a couple of months ago when the new Bruins winger faced his old Flyers club for the first time. It knocked Couturier out of the Flyers lineup for a time with a concussion, and earned Rinaldo a game misconduct in a fitting statement that he no longer held any allegiances to the Flyers anymore.

I activated him this week and hope he piles up a boatload of PIMs.

It really is very hard to compare different eras but looking at the numbers put up during the 80's it's hard to not come away thinking either the goal scorers were awesome(83/84 season had 24 40 goal scorers while only 3 goalies had a GAA under 3.00)or the goalies were just that bad.

Compare that to last year with 3 40 goal scorers and the 20th ranked GAA was 2.38 for goalies.

What I can say without a doubt is Ovechkin is his generations best goal scorer.

I will let the experts make the claim as to where he ranks all-time but as far as goal scorers go he should be ranked at or near the top given my years of watching the sport and all the greats.

Not really hard at all to tell that the goalies were far worse and more importantly, wearing smaller pads than your average shot blocking defenseman today. Butterfly technique hadn't even been thought up yet. Equipment/technology was worse all around, but was exponentially worse for goalies.

Perfect, thanks for posting.

Watching Reilly's first few games at this level, Wild can move a defenseman now. He's so confident out there and very smooth. He can jump in immediately.

Would prefer some size and a center (Johansen would have been a great fit), but happy to see that Dumba is being dangled for Drouin.

Woot...Av's call up Zadorov and Bigras after putting Guenin on waivers and reassining Gromley. Frankly it can't be worse.

I know the Kings couldn't afford to lose their franchise center (and a really good two-way player), but doesn't 10 Mil seem like an overpay? Especially for 8 years so they'll be paying him until he's 36?

Toews & Kane got 8 years, $84MM

He slots in right below them. Seems pretty good to me.

they're hating that Dustin Brown contract though.

Who knows what happened. Potvin immediately blaming the Canucks is pure homerism.

NB: I hate the Ca-####s.
What happened was Thornton was on the ice just before the puck drop in OT and said to Daniel " you're still just the same ol' sisters" and after Daniel scored the winner in OT he skated by Thornton at the Panthers bench and said " You talk a good game. I play one". Thornton and Montoya then sprayed water on one of the Sedins which is why Dorsett skated over to Montoya.

I am by no means a Sedin fan but Shawn Thornton has a total of 94 points in his NHL career. He has no business talking #### to the Sedins.

Reilly was outstanding with the Gophers and looks the same in the NHL. Reminds me of watching Zucker play at DU and make the jump effortlessly as well.

Zucker's effortless jump took two seasons. So there was considerable effort.
