This set of polls is for rookie picks prior to the NFL draft. There will also be a set of polls for after the NFL draft. As always - please feel free to add any comments on why you selected a player at this slot and to suggest players who you think have been overlooked (or if you voted other, then please feel free to add a post on who you voted for).

The purpose for these polls is to attempt to roughly gauge the perceived values of the rookie players without knowing the context of their draft position and team that they are drafted by. The polls that take place after the NFL Draft obviously will factor in situation as well as talent, and of course the knowledge of what NFL Draft round and team each player has landed on.

Debate is very welcome as we all want to know not only which players are specifically ranked ahead of others but also why. This also bumps the thread so that more people will see the poll and hopefully participate by voting.

I will try to stay on top of these and keep the polls moving. The more votes the better. I prefer to not close any poll until there are at least 100 votes and I might leave a poll open longer if the vote is very close between prospects.

Looks like we have a couple of defined tiers so far in PPR:

1-6

7-12
Who do you see as the 6th player in tier one?

Based on the voting confidence (percentage that led to a win) I see the tiers as

1-5 in both standard and PPR. The vote percentage falls off at DGB which starts the next tier at pick 6. The second tier is different for the standard poll than the PPR.

Standard

1-5

6-7

8-12

PPR

1-5

6-12

The voting confidence definitely peaks at pick 5 with a significant drop to player 6.

In the Standard poll confidence for Jay Ayaji is 5% higher than any other decision since then. Showing that a majority prefer DGB or Ayaji as a mini tier after the top 5.

In the PPR poll the confidence for DGB (39%) at pick 6 is repeated at pick 9 and again at pick 12 showing that the whole group is a similar tier.

The 2QB poll shows a similar pattern of the standard poll.with Jay Ayaji being the last 32% confidence vote at pick 9 which is the same as the confidence level for Parker at pick 6

2QB Poll tiers

1-4

5-9

10-13 so far

The low confidence votes show where a new tier is starting, because the vote gets split between multiple players at that decision point then consolidates again at the end of the tier.

Interesting to look at the votes at each spot, good stuff bia. I also think there's 6 players who stand it right now but there seems to be disagreement about DGB.

I'd probably put the tiers

1-3

4-6

7-9

10-?

When I use tiers, there would be no surprise when any of that tier are selected above the others. When the top pick is taken right now, I'd be suprised if it were anyone other than cooper, Gurley or gordon.

There is a lot of love for Kevin White. If he is the first WR taken in the NFL draft I can see fantasy owners following suit.

I am somewhat risk averse so maybe it is just me who think DGB is a tier below?

Broke it up into more tiers with the break at any player who got 38% of the votes. Looks like DGB is in a tier by himself.

1.01-1.03 RB Todd Gurley (50.4%), RB Melvin Gordon (58.3%), WR Amari Cooper (73.4%)

1.04-1.05 WR DeVante Parker (46.6%), WR Kevin White (65.5%)

1.06 WR Dorial Green-Beckham (39%)

1.07-1.09 RB Jay Ayaji (26.1%), Jaelen Strong (25%), Ameer Abdullah (39%)

1.10-1.12 Tevin Coleman (20.8%), TJ Yeldon (32.6%), RB Duke Johnson (38%)

It would be nice if the data were more robust than it is. But I think this analysis of the voting confidence can give at least a general idea of how dynasty owners are valuing the prospects at this time.

Poll closed at 61 votes

This one was very closely contested. 5 players had 7 or more votes in the standard poll. Ultimately won by Mariotta with 10 votes (18.5%)

The PPR poll was won by Breshad Perriman with 12 votes (22.2%) but very close was Sammie Coates with 11 votes.

The 2QB poll was won by Brett Hundley with 12 votes (22.2%). Duke Johnson had 10 votes

The 2.03 poll can be found here
