Kings essentially getting to keep their 2017 pick as well, which they would have likely lost to Chicago had they kept Boogie.

Not saying I like the deal, but that's a big part of it if we're judging the entirety.
Which they will turn around and hand to Philly.

Yes, but they'll have to swap with the Sixers. This trade guarantees the Kings will be bad enough to trigger a swap unless Philly wins the lottery or something.
It'll be close.  25 games left - Sac with a 2.5 game lead.  Even if they have to swap, it should only be a spot or 2 and Sac will still get a top 10 pick.   I'm just trying to figure this out from Vlade's perspective, and keeping a top 10 pick in this draft is extremely valuable in addition to whatever he gets from NO.

Should be fun to see the fights between Hield and McLemore  "No you dribble. Help, I can't get my shot off!!!"

And to think, if they REALLY liked Hield that much, they could have just moved up a couple spots in the draft (w/o giving their franchise player)

The Kings were at significant risk to lose a 2017 Top-10 protected pick to Chicago, and trade increases chances to hold onto it.

They could have kept their pick by putting Boogie on the shelf for a week or two down the stretch. That aspect of this deal was not extremely valuable.

The topper is their best young players are also SGs (Malachi Richardson, looks promising, and Bogdonavic, pretty well thought of Euro coming next year).

Hahahahahahaha.....but #### as Dubs fan.

Davis, Cousins, and Holiday paired with two 3D wings is a legit title contender if Boogie can live without the ball a little less.

Hopefully Pels win enough to get to the 7th seed because that'll be a scary 1st round matchup.

This sounds like one of those crazy deals Abe would come up with.  Maybe the Sacramento GM accidentally hit the Accept button on Yahoo instead of Decline.

Who's that in your avatar?

9 games back with 25 left. So even if OKC was mediocre and went 10-15, NO would have to go 19-6.

As a Pacers fan---I am shocked that they didn't make a play for him being that Sac let him go for so cheap.  The Pacers could have offered Thad young and their first round pick--or even myles turner for him straight up.  Feels like the Pacers were one of many teams whose management let a golden opportunity slide by.

I really like this trade from a fan perspective.  First, he's not a laker.  Second, he's not a celtic.  But really in a league that's gone small and away from two big guys on the floor at the same time now we have two of the best what, five big men on the same team?  Zig when they zag, right?  Should be interesting.  Plus Davis and Cousins probably ####ed several of the same chicks.

Pistons attempted a deal with Andre Drummond to the Kings for DeMarcus Cousins. Kings said no. (Via Michael Scotto - Basketball Insiders)
As frustrating as Drummond has been this season, he has more upside than Tyreke Evans and Buddy Hield.

The whole NBA sounds like a dynasty league that just had a bad trade go down. I wonder how many teams called the comissioners office telling him to reverse the trade?

It's funny that David Stern vetoed a deal that would have sent CP3 to the Lakers, Pau to Houston, and Dragic and a 2012 first round pick to the New Orleans back in the day.    However--that was when the Pelicans were essentially ownerless and controlled by the league.  With that being said--this trade looks far more lopsided than the one that was vetoed years ago.

We've had this discussion a number of times, but at the time the trade they ended up making for Gordon was a much better trade. Even in retrospect the Gordon trade was better because they ended up with Davis when they probably wouldn't have otherwise.

If I'm Cleveland I'm calling on Collison and/or McLemore. McLemore won't live up to the hype expected pre-draft as he struggles too much off the dribble, but I think he'll thrive if he falls into situation that allows him to be a spot up shooter. Collison fills their massive hole at backup PG.

I'm sure Sac will accept Kay Felder and a 2nd round in 2045.

I have to think that NO is going to be looking for a shooting guard the next couple days. Who is available on the cheap that would also be an improvement for them? Jodie Meeks? Would Portland consider an Asik (plus Pondexter for cap purposes) for Crabbe swap to save a bunch of money? Maybe Denver would trade Barton for Frazier and a first?

Cleveland has some sort of 2019 2nd rounder available.

Maybe Cleveland could trade that 2nd rounder for Lawson? He's been a decent backup PG this year.

I just don't see this trade as helpful to the Pelicans other than a win now move.. IMO this is going to impact both player's stat lines and not for the better. Like some have mentioned above, they are going to need some form of outside scoring with the lane now all congested with the two big bodies in there.

Plus if Cousins doesn't like NO, he only has one year left on his contract.

I know the Kings are completely mismanaged, but there had to be a better deal out there right??

Cavs trade exception expires today.
