Randle buying into becoming Draymond Jr. is such a fantastic development.  He and Nance on the floor at the same time in the small ball lineup is awesome.

I like Wiggins more as a player but I feel the same way you do - how is his line so lacking in other categories considering how much he plays and his athleticism M.

On a related note, I don't think teams are going to feel as much pressure to dump max players with expiring deals with the new CBA coming. Theres a good chance their current teams will be able to offer a lot more $ than their suitors.

Nurkic has arguably been the best center in the NBA so far, almost certainly top 5. I don't expect him to continue to play that well, but I do think that is his long term ceiling (top 5 center). Gary Harris is going to be a starter in the NBA for a long time as a 3-D wing. He's probably a better player than somebody like Crabbe who just got a $75 million contract. Wilson Chandler is a known quantity, but he is on a pretty team friendly deal and is a capable starting SF. If the Pacers are worried that they are going to lose George after next season, I think it is a fair deal. If there is no worry about him leaving, they would want more.

i did watch the game last night. He oooked competent in the paint and that's about it.  Taking a rebound and dribbling it on the break before stopping at the free throw line and passing it to DeeLow to setup the offense <> Draymond

He shot 28% from 3 last year and averaged less than 2 assists per game. What are you even talking about.

Those guys are very solid rotation players but not top 100 guys and probably won't be. I'd rather take my chances keeping George in free agency rather than getting guys who don't have potential to move the needle. Another team can and would do way better than that; Boston could/should consider giving at least one and probably Brooklyn picks, for example. 

Edit: Denver could put together a decent package with some of their nice future assets, like Murray, their current first, and the future Grizzlies pick, but they aren't going to get George for a couple of expendable dudes.

Randle and Green have such different games though. Not sure why you are trying to fit them into the same category. There are at least a half dozen of other players in the league that do a Draymond Jr impression far better than Randle.

Probably closer to a rich man's Trevor Booker than a poor man's Green.

No he's not. They're nothing alike at all. 

 
Draymond: good team guy, aggressive, can shoot the 3, pass, dribble, use both hands near the basket, defend 4 positions on ball and close out away from the basket.  

Which of those qualities does Randle have at all?

You are selling Harris and Nurkic short.

I'm not sure who the proper comparison for Harris is, but here are the first 5 guys I thought of with somewhat similar games.

At 21 last year he was a very solid rotation player. He has a very nice looking stroke, so I think he'll be a better shooter mid-career than he is now, and has the handles to be a secondary ball handler. He's not going to be a star, but he's the kind of 3-D wing that teams love.

Nurkic is harder to explain because he doesn't have a large statistical sample showing he is as talented as he is, especially as he was removing from from a torn patella tendon last year. He lost 35 pounds in the offseason, just turned 22, and he has been wrecking fools so far this year. He has incredibly soft hands for a center, he's a very good passer, and has great feet. His game is for real. He needs to clean his game up a bit, but he reminds me a little bit of a more powerful Andrew Bogut before he ruined his elbow.

Reminds me a lot of Draymond.

 
I like Randle a lot.  He looks like he might have the kind of skills where he can be a big who can help facilitate the offense on the perimeter at some point.

I know. It sucks.

However, he's the most dominant player in the NBA every minute he's on the floor.

The Brow is great, but doesn't play BIG like Embiid does.

KAT is awesome, but he's not the physical freak that The Process is.

 
Lakers win their third in a row, fourth overall.  Last season, they didn't win their fourth until December 15th.  Booker was pissing me off in the fourth quarter - dude was unstoppable.  Nice to see the young guys handle their business down the stretch.  So much more fun to watch this team this year than the previous two seasons.

I've had season tickets with a college buddy since 86. Laker season ticket holders never let them go, but I have been selling them on the exchange and swapping them for Clipper games for a few years. It's time to start going again. I'm pretty disappointed I missed these last two wins. Watching from home sucks.

No doubt, but at least it lets one see Luke's press conferences as well, which are the polar opposite of Byron's.  Couldn't be happier with that hire so far.  

 
A few observations from yesterday's Utah game...

  • Rudy Gobert is really good...the way he holds and moves his upper body makes him look like an octopus.  Basically an athletic Hibbert with attitude.  
  • Hayward is going to get the max from someone and is probably worth it with the dearth of quality 3s in the league.  The combo of him and Hood as tall 2/3s is impossible to guard especially with Hill knowing how to pick his spots.   
  • While Favors is a nice player, with Hayward they flow much better with Johnson (or another shooter) in there.  They're going to have an interesting decision with him.  He's probably worth whatever he's going to get, but I think they'd be better with a true stretch 4.
  • This goes with that point, but Lyles is going to end up being better with the rest of that lineup than Favors.  
  • Hill just knows how to play...knows where the open spots are, etc.
I've seen better teams in MSG, but that was a well-oiled team and I won't be shocked if they get to the conference semi's and put a scare in GS in the playoffs.  They're really one good move away from being in the upper echelon (Favors for a real stretch 4 or something like that).  

Poor Knicks...still a work in progress

  • Melo has a big flak jacket on to protect his ribs...seemed bigger than usual. 
  • Rose was quicker than I remember him, maybe he's getting a little of the pre-ACL game back, but still doesn't pass
  • Porzingis still needs to add some strength to his lower body to hold his position.  Once he does that he's going to be Dirk good.  
  • Mindaugas was everything I'd hoped he'd be
Oh...Utah...I hope you all washed your hands...my son may or may not have been diseased as you were giving him high 5s leaving the court.
