Like what I'm seeing. Walton has these guys competing.
Too many turnovers in the 1st half and overall this season. I hope they grow out of it. They've gone from one of the slower paced teams in the league last year to, I think, 2nd fastest pace team or something like that.

Lakers with win #5. They didn't hit 5 wins until Dec 22 last year. Guys playing hard, it's a real revelation. Julius Randle, 5 assists. #justlikedraymond
When they had Randle run the point for a few possessions, I think it was Reggie Miller who referred to him as the Lakers "baby Draymond", or something along those lines.

Russell espically has to tighten up the TOs.  He had a stretch in the first half where he looked like he didn't even belong on an NBA court.  He's been outstanding overall so this is just a young player in a new system.  But I love the way Luke let Lou Will close.  It's a lesson.

Lou had a few head scratchers himself, but he also had several clutch possessions. I think they just get playing too fast sometimes and they get out of control.

D-Lo, Williams, Clarkson and Young all have such nice shooting form.  Fun to watch.

Then the hustle of Randle, Nance and Moz.  The Moz dunk was sick.

Then a potential superstar in Ingram.

Back to taping every game.

It's nice to see that Parker seems to have turned the corner for our Bucks.  He's increased his range and seems to have the best hops I've ever seen from him.  Sucks Middleton got hurt as that's a real nice 1-3-4.

Ingram's been a big disappointment so far. He looks scared out there. Hopefully he'll grow out of it.

Dent's been pretty useless too, that contract is going to be an anchor.

Been happy with Mozgov. In spite of all the initial ridicule, that actually is starting to look like a decent signing for them. He's giving them a ton on D and on the boards.

Cousins had a fantastic game last night. People should check out his highlights if they haven't seen them. Dude had several ankle breakers driving to the hoop, and he was knocking down 3s. Too bad the Kings can't put a team around him.

I wasn't expecting that much from Ingram yet - he just isn't strong enough to handle the physicality of the game yet.  But I've liked the skills I've seen him display for a guy with that length.

I agree Deng has been terrible so far - I hope there is some nagging injury to explain his poor form, or else it will be a long four years with that deal.

Mozgov set some great picks last night too - I remember one where he sprung Clarkson free for a clean drive to the hoop in the second half.  And while Boogie was scoring plenty, at least Mozgov made him work for some of it.  When the Lakers tried to go small while Cousins was on the court, it did not work out well.  Dude is too big and agile for either Randle or Nance to be anything but a bug on the windshield when guarding him.

And I continued to be amazed by the emergence of Nick Young, actual basketball player.

For the talk of the young talent, the Kings were just out coached last night. The Lakers didn't belong on the same floor with them through most of the first half, but at halftime they decided to pack the paint and the Kings basically never scored again. Of course the Kings' best shooter never got off the bench during that entire stretch either.

Tarick Black couldn't do much with Cousins either. Walton bringing the aggressive double and triple teams in the 2nd half helped a lot too.

The Lakers also had 12 turnovers in the 1st half, many of them relatively unforced. A lot of the initial 19 point lead was based on that.

I've spent way too much time in political threads.

Hawks with nice back to back wins against Cleveland and then Chicago.  I'm happy with the start.  They have some winnable games coming up the next week or so before a long West Coast road trip.

Still early but I like them to get home court in round 1 again this year.

Some dumb ones, sure. But the Kings' starters have (had?) a top 5 defensive rating and they were scoring at will against a bad defense, so it wasn't terribly flukey. It was also a replay of their preseason games where the Kings starters dominated their counterparts. Walton reorganized the defense and they were a totally different team after halftime. It was impressive.

Wait a few weeks until Howard checks out.

That would be my biggest concern right now but I think it's a pretty veteran team without egos.  I don't see any obvious reason that things would go south other than his attitude and I have some confidence in Coach Bud being able to sort it out if needed.  Maybe I'm being naive but I'm hopeful it won't be an issue.

Drummond had a huge night going 3-for-3 on FTs. He was just one off his career best of 4 without a miss. The big game catapulted his FT% on the season all the way up to 55%. He also had 20 points and 17 boards.

As a Wizards ticket holder for a few years, I dropped them this year because they upped the cost.  I guess Ted thought they had made it ???

I watched a game the other day only to realize I know the names of only 6 players on their team.  6.  From an AAU basketball coach that live within 5 miles of the arena.  Apparently Ernie spent cap space on a bunch of bums that sit on the bench, because Wall and Beal have nothing to work with.  I don't blame them for checking it in already.   Might as well blow this crap up for the 100th time.

There is a basketball forum. Can a mod please move this? It is getting in the way of all the political threads.

Wow, the Pelicans are a steaming pile of garbage without Davis.  It's astounding the level of play he has to sustain just to make that squad competitive.

Lakers are two games above .500 for the first time since the end of the 2012-13 season.  36 assists and 16 threes - fun to watch the ball get shared.

Rename the Ewing Theory to the Kobe Theory?

LeBron's just ####### around now. Hornets play brilliantly to go into the 4th with a 1-point lead. Cavs come out in the 4th, sit Kyrie and Love the entire quarter. Some kid named McCrae, who played 4 minutes all year, plays entire quarter. LeBron just keeps breaking down the defense and feeding a red hot Channing Frye to a likely victory. Well that, or draining jumpers himself from all over the court after being shut down for 3 quarters.

Hornets on the other hand go from playing beautiful basketball for 3 quarters to the ol' give it to Kemba and let him do something offense in the 4th. The difference between a pretty good NBA team and a great NBA team is just insane.
