They're celebrating the '77 championship. Stotts is dressed as Dr. Jack and it is glorious. Walton needs to sit his ### down though so the paying customers behind him can actually see the game. The third quarter of this Portland/Lakers game may be the single most horrific display of basketball I've ever seen.
Also, is it Lumberjack appreciation night?
Did they wear flannel jerseys? Walton problem can't physically sit down in those seats. They're celebrating the '77 championship. Stotts is dressed as Dr. Jack and it is glorious. Walton needs to sit his ### down though so the paying customers behind him can actually see the game.
Pretty sure they were polyester or cardboard. Yeah I am aware of that with Walton but he spent half the 3rd quarter blocking the game for 30 people.Did they wear flannel jerseys? Walton problem can't physically sit down in those seats.
I swear I just saw a free throw miss the entire lane.
Check out this genius.NBA fans of the FFA: please join my burgeoning twitter-based movement to vote DeRozan to the NBA all-star game. This would not only bump the undeserving Dwyane Wade from the starting lineup in favor of the more deserving DeRozan, but also hopefully free up a much deserved bench roster spot for John Wall and/or Kemba Walker.
It's good for the Raptors, the Wizards and the Hornets. If I could find a way to include the T-Wolves in this I'd have like 80% of the thread regulars.
Latrell Sprewell! The Warriors have four players in the all-star game which, while deserved imo, almost makes me shake my head a little. Then I remember that for 15 straight years, from 1997-2003 they had a grand total of zero and that the basketball gods are just keeping the universe in balance.
That being said Zaza still got robbed.
#TrustTheProcessCan somebody explain to me why the Knicks would at all be interested in a Melo for Rivers/Crawford trade (that's one of the few ways to get the salaries to match)? Makes no sense to me with the contracts Rivers and Crawford have.
They wouldn't be. I can't imagine that report is real. Can somebody explain to me why the Knicks would at all be interested in a Melo for Rivers/Crawford trade (that's one of the few ways to get the salaries to match)? Makes no sense to me with the contracts Rivers and Crawford have.
Seems like accurate value for MeloCan somebody explain to me why the Knicks would at all be interested in a Melo for Rivers/Crawford trade (that's one of the few ways to get the salaries to match)? Makes no sense to me with the contracts Rivers and Crawford have.
I'll agree they are getting parts back, but geez can they at least get working parts?Seems like accurate value for Melo![]()
What's really scary is that it wouldn't at all surprise me if Toronto made a pitch... they badly need a PF and could likely get Melo for Ross, Sullinger, a couple young guys and a late 1st.I'll agree they are getting parts back, but geez can they at least get working parts?
Only way I would even think of doing it would be for it to be something like Redick, Rivers, still need more salary and their 2019 first round pick. That's at least a little interesting since I'd assume Redick would generate another young part from one of the other contenders.
Update: Still top in ORtg, 10th in PER, 7th in WS/48, 14th in ESPN RPM. Everybody ahead of him in each of those stats is either an All-Star or happens to be named Chris Paul. Averaging 20.8/9.8/5.2 (26.2/12.3/6.5 per 36) in the last 19 games. Not that anybody else gives a ####, but Nikola Jokic is out playing every other big man in the NBA right now, save for maybe Davis and Cousins. His play over the first half of the year has been spectacular (Top ORtg in the league, 10th in WS/48, 13th in PER) but since he has been starting at center this year he is other worldly. He is averaging 19.4/9.4/5.2 in less than 28 MPG (25.3/12.3/6.8 per 36) with a TS% of .706 through the last 14 games.
He'll likely always leave something to be desired defensively because he is a below average athlete and slightly short for the position, but he is already doing everything offensively at an elite level and he is still only 21.
They hardly had any overlap, Ujiri took over the offseason before they traded Melo. Can't imagine they had a great relationship though. If I remember, the Melo trade rumors started to swirl before the season even started, so Melo was probably #####ing to Ujiri the day he started. What's really scary is that it wouldn't at all surprise me if Toronto made a pitch... they badly need a PF and could likely get Melo for Ross, Sullinger, a couple young guys and a late 1st.
@Kev4029 What was the Masai / Melo relationship like in Denver? Please tell me it was terrible.
I think the list of places Melo would agree to go to starts with the Cavs and ends with the Clippers, so I think you're probably safe in that regard. I do think the Raptors are a better fit basketball-wise.What's really scary is that it wouldn't at all surprise me if Toronto made a pitch... they badly need a PF and could likely get Melo for Ross, Sullinger, a couple young guys and a late 1st.

I was sort of surprised that Nate Duncan didn't totally pu-pu a Melo for Love trade especially if the Knicks threw in some of the better parts like Kuzminskas, O'Quinn, Hernangomez, etc. with their trade exceptions. He seemed to think there's enough the Knicks could give them that it's not as far fetched as it looks on first blush.
I was surprised by that too, and I tend to agree with him.Sammy3469 said:I was sort of surprised that Nate Duncan didn't totally pu-pu a Melo for Love trade especially if the Knicks threw in some of the better parts like Kuzminskas, O'Quinn, Hernangomez, etc. with their trade exceptions. You are mad that a dude that is averaging 20.5pts and 11 rebs a game from the best team in the conference made the all star team? Okay.CentralPA said:The NBA is such a ####### joke. How the hell does Embiid not get at least a reserve spot. Paul Millsuck and Kevin Love can bite me. #TrustTheProcess
I think he's fishing, but I'm not sure. There isn't a GM out there that would rather have Embiid over either Millsap or Love for this season. You are mad that a dude that is averaging 20.5pts and 11 rebs a game from the best team in the conference made the all star team? Okay.
All right, I'll give you Kevin. He should go but not Millsap over Embiid. You are mad that a dude that is averaging 20.5pts and 11 rebs a game from the best team in the conference made the all star team? Okay.
I totally agree--but who a GM would rather have has zero impact on who should be an all-star this particular season. I hate the Cavs--but totally understand why Love should make the all star team ahead of Embiid this season.I think he's fishing, but I'm not sure. Not fishing. I think Embiid should go over Millsap. Completely disagree with your take on the GMs, not that it matters anyways.I think he's fishing, but I'm not sure. There isn't a GM out there that would rather have Embiid over either Millsap or Love for this season.
It's about how LeBron is concerned for the Lakers. The league's just better when the Lakers are competitive, LeBron knows this.Vanilla Guerrilla said:The new thread title - So is LeBron annoyed that he hasn't been able to create a superteam like the Warriors? It's really not fair, he should be allowed to do that at least once in his career.
The Clippers were just trying the same schtick that the Knicks tried with the Cavs. Can somebody explain to me why the Knicks would at all be interested in a Melo for Rivers/Crawford trade (that's one of the few ways to get the salaries to match)? I challenge you to find a player to ever make an all-star team playing a similar amount of minutes on a team similarly as bad as the 76ers. The only guys that you'll find are legacy players like Kobe from a couple years ago (I looked this up for you, the most similar comparison would be Jack Molinas in the 50s who made the All-Star game before being banned for life mid-season for an NCAA point shaving scandal, later murdered in a mob hit). There is no recent precedent for Embiid making it. Here is the list of All-Stars to make the game playing less than 1400 minutes in a season, which is what Embiid is projected for.Not fishing. Do Rivers and Crawford's contracts expire after this season? That's the only way it makes sense.Sammy3469 said:Can somebody explain to me why the Knicks would at all be interested in a Melo for Rivers/Crawford trade (that's one of the few ways to get the salaries to match)? On the other hand, Millsap is the best player on a team that is 4th in the conference and is arguably the best defender at his position in the NBA, certainly top 2.
If all the All-Star game was going for was entertainment factor rather than a reward for consistent play, Embiid would certainly make it, but that's not how it is voted.
That graphic doesn't show what you think it shows.I can't find the graphic, but compare Milsap to Embiid for the year. Embiid has better overall stats than Milsap in 2/3 of playing time
this one isn't good, but I'm at work and can't go looking too much:

honeslty, I don't care a ton, Embiid will be on plenty of all-star teams. Anybody who thinks Milsap is more valuable than Embiid is a little off though. All-Star snubs are the usual. Lillard should be in too, few others. I don't think McCollum got in either which seems like a bit of an oversight, even though it is hard to argue any of those guards in the West. Jordan over Townes is dumb tooThat graphic doesn't show what you think it shows.

There is an argument to be made that Embiid has been better than Millsap when they have played, which I wouldn't necessarily agree with, but I could definitely agree with some of the logic. The problem is, the Sixers suck, the Hawks are good, and Millsap has played TWICE as many minutes. To me its not even close.
I don't think there were many snubs this year. The Blazers are wildly disappointing and neither McCollum or Lillard play any defense. KAT has played well but is still a mediocre defender and the Wolves aren't very good. Jordan has become a defensive force and fortunately for him, he gets to play with the best true PG in the NBA.honeslty, I don't care a ton, Embiid will be on plenty of all-star teams. Embiid is ridiculous. First time really watching him - wow. This Houston-Philly game is fun.
yeah the talent discrepancy is showing tonight, and they are playing a team that plays at the same pace they do. Hoping the boys can come through and cover the +6.5. Kings finally lost thought, whew![]()
6ers beat the #2 team in the East a few days ago.
Now they are playing the #3 team in the West tough deep into the 3rd.
