Totally agree. I just hope Ainge sees the Love injury as a chance to get the #1 seed and at least contend for the ship. Right now his team isn't there. Home court for the ECF is worth a lottery pick for an allstar in my world.

Bulls will want more than the Jersey pick and Ainge won't cough starters or Brown. Rozier, the Euros and the Amir/Zeller contacts are all he'll ship right now for anybody and i dont think he'll do both Jersey picks either. If someone gives a lunchbucket rim protector for Rozier - who, knock me over with a feather, looks more like a PG1 every day - and contracts, Celts got a 50/50 shot at winnning two playoff series and that's it.

I love Jaylen Brown and not just due to his athleticism (which is big time)...I think he has a real chance to turn into an all-star level player if things break right (remember we are talking about the #3 pick and a kid who was one of the top high school recruits in the nation...he is not coming out of nowhere)...the first thing I love about him is he plays balls out all the time...he seems real intelligent and effort is never going to be an issue with him which should help him reach his ceiling...secondly, at a young age you can already tell he has a chance to be an elite defender...you can tell that he knows how to play D (kind of like how Bradley and Smart do) and with his effort level I have zero doubt he will always be able to contribute on that end of the floor...the X-factor and what everyone looks at is his offense...it is very obvious he has raw athletic skills and the fact he is only 19 makes it even more intriguing...what I am really liking about him (and surprised by) is he looks like he will be a better outside player than I thought he would be...his handle is much better than I expected and I bet it will be really tightened up in a few years...he has a nice stroke outside and I think he will end up being a legit threat from there in his career...the kid really has a chance to be very good and the fact he is getting first-rate coaching during this part of his career is huge...I am liking how Stevens looks like he already trusts him and that says a ton to me since I hold Stevens in such regard...
Ultimately this is my hope for Brown...he ends up being what everyone thought Jeff Green would be...the Jeff Green with high skills that could dominate at times...not the one that would disappear for even longer times and drive fans crazy and is now kind of an afterthought...

I would also be pissed if the guy fouled (Butler) admitted it was a ticky-tack foul...so, while this foul can be defended by the letter of the law (so yes, the C's need to accept it and move on) I find it hard to believe anyone who has played a sport above the high school level would like to see a hard-fought game decided on a "ticky-tack" call after watching two competitors go head-to head on that play...

That certainly would have been a blockbuster. DMC, along with Russell Westbrook, have a chance to become the first players since Larry Bird in 1984-85, to average at least 27 points, ten boards and five dimes over the course of a full season.

The article states that "a source close to Butler said the swingman doesn't want that outcome [a trade]." And that he is "grounded in Chicago" and doesn't want to leave "with unfinished business." It's hard to envision a scenario in which the Bulls would benefit by trading Butler. He's in the heart of his prime at 27, getting better every season, and is locked into a very cap-friendly contract through 2019.

Still catching up on the NBA and I have a few other thoughts and questions.
Am I the only one that thinks Butler to the Celtics wouldn't work? Thomas and Butler both do their best work with the ball in their hands. We have seen it work before with Wade, Lebron and Bosh, but Bosh made a big sacrifice to make that work and Wade was better than Butler at that time in their career's and adjusted to let Lebron be the guy. Plus this only gives the Celtics a chance to really compete and maybe beat the Cavs they clearly wouldn't be better, with all the talent and picks they have coming wouldn't it be better to wait another year and really start building for a chance to have a Lebron type run in the East? Or if you make a trade do it in the off season so the team can gel?
Why do the 76er's have to trade Okafor? I don't think he will ever live up to where he was drafted, but Noel is free agent at the end of the year. Couldn't they use Okafor as the instant offense off the bench? Plus it isn't like Embiid is the model of health. Maybe a Philly homer can chime in, is Okafor a malcontent? Is he demanding to start?
Why are the Magic not blowing it up? They have a lot of nice pieces that contending teams would like and they obviously can't make it work, even if you have to take .75 or .80 on the dollar?

My guess would be that once he saw how badly the shot missed, he trusted what was likely his original thought, and then whistled the foul.
Bottom line: if you make contact with a shooter's elbow, it's an easy call.

Butler would work. Stevens has tried - first w AB, then Smart - to have someone else bring up the ball so the Leprechaun can be like Edelman is to the Pats and be the guy open once the D has committed, but AB is a terrible ball-handler and Smart dont have a shot so Ds dont respect. IT is much more a mini-Wade than a mini-Westbrook, so an equal/opposite ballhandler is something Stevens' offense actually needs.
Right with you on Okafor. Sixers' front office wants to get something out of their logjam but other teams wont offer kwality cuz its a logjam. Was same w Magic, but now they need to see if Gordon actually IS a 4 w Vuc before making their next move, cuz Vuc already is a playoff-team piece if done right.

they don't have to trade, but it is impeding the further development of the team because it isn't giving minutes to Noel and Holmes so the team can see if they can continue to grow and worth the money they will need (particularly with Noel). Players have done a real good job dealing with this and not having chemistry issues (probably a lot of that is from Brown too), even with how much this front office has screwed this up.
Hopefully Simmons plays a bit this year, and adding him to the puzzle cuts down minutes for these guys even more. Would love the Sixers to move Ilyasova or some other pieces that are not part of the long term picture (moving Henderson and Sergio for a 2035 2nd round pick would be perfectly fine with me). The team has begun to establish an identity and it would be good for the team to see if Simmons can handle PG responsibilites at all before the upcoming draft and decide if they commit a lot of money to a back-up center in Noel. I agree with Embiid's health (and nothing to do with the current situation, more concerns with his back and foot previous injuries) that they need to have a better than average back-up center. But with Okafor, it just looks like over and over that his skills and playing style do not fit with how Brown wants the team to play. I think his struggles have much more to do with that then his ability

Agreed...as much as I love Isiah his size means getting another legit scorer is that much more important (especially come playoff time)...Butler guarding him in that game was how it can be in playoff basketball and he gave Isiah everything he could handle...put another big-time scorer out there and you have to pick your poison (and it will also make the Olynks and Smarts that much more effective)...wikkidpissah said:

All three of these guys have been in the rumor mill all season, so the only takeaway here is that the Suns are still looking to accumulate draft picks and more young talent. There are a ton of centers on the market, so moving Chandler's contract won't be easy. It makes some sense to put Alex Len on your watch list if you need a big, while Chandler would more than likely lose value with a potential trade. Nothing is imminent by any means.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Wizards have some interest in Bojan Bogdanovic.
The Wizards are looking to upgrade their bench at the deadline and have also been linked to Lou Williams. The Nets are looking for draft picks to speed up their rebuild, and the Wizards "have shown an inclination" to give up a future first-round pick for the right deal. Bogdanovic would surely lose value on a team like the Wizards, but his absence could open the door for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Caris LeVert to have a larger role in Brooklyn's offense.

The Lakers aren't going anywhere this season and would probably be willing to flip Williams for a pick, and Washington "has shown an inclination" to give up a future first-round pick. Rather have the future 1st than Mahinmi.
And I realize Lou Will isn't an All Star caliber player, but he's every bit as good as Jamal Crawford at this point and I don't know if there is a better instant offense bench guy in the league. For a top heavy team like Wash, seems like having a guy who can get a few buckets against the Cavs 2nd unit would be invaluable and possibly series changing.
