Back in the day, defensive rules didn't require you to have shooters to open things up.  LBJ is too big, too fast, too much range for those enforcers back then.
While I understand and respect your opinion about lebron vs Michael--and do not want to debate you on that---I do want to say that I do not agree with this.   If you look at Lebrons career--he has always excelled when having a stretch four on his team--and never a truly dominant post up player that clogs up the lane.  Chris Bosh had to change his game up and add range to open things up. Kevin Love is also a modern day quintessential stretch 4.   While Lebron does have size, speed, and handles--I don't think it's safe to assume that he's the same threat in a half court style of game with a congested key.   One of the reasons why Michael was so dominant was because of the triangle offense.  That offense was revolutionary for the time because it really helped create spacing for Jordan to have proper mismatches--and gave him the space to make a play.  You have to remember--back then--it was not just about the defenders taking up space in the key--it was also your own offensive players.  There weren't as many long range 3pt shooters back then--and many times teams would have their PF and their Centers playing offense around the key.  Each of those guys would also have a defender on them--so right there--you're looking at 4 bodies in the paint.   You then have your defender that could sag off--which is something that would be very possible when defending Lebron--so now you are looking at having to navigate around 5 people in order to get to the basket.   I still think Lebron would be a dominant player back in Jordans era--but I don' think he would have been as dominant as Jordan.  Lebron complains about physical play in todays game--and todays game is FAR less physical than play in the Jordan era.   In any case--both guys are elite and while it's a time wasting discussion--it's still a fun one.

Seen em all, cept Mikan, and it's gettiing harder to say. I still go by chooseup. LeBron has reached an unstoppability level close to Shaquille and has that from most places on the court. That's unprecedented even if he has done it in an age where he gets to play without fear of Heinsohn elbows, McHale clotheslines or Mahorn shivers. Jim Brown and maybe Usain Bolt are the only athletes in any sport i've seen to equal James's power. But, though he doesnt fail the test as badly as Wilt or Kareem, i still think the King gets put off his game in a match of all-timers. So my chooseup still goes Magic, Mike, Russ then LeBron over Bird, which is a pretty damn big thing for a whiteboy from JP to say. But it's daaaamn close up top and i aint moanin if i get any of em.

What about that one dude that won 10 titles with the Celtics back when there were only 6 teams or something?  I forgot his name.

Oh yeah.. Bill Russell.  My last job had a Kansas fan that went on and on about him.  He hated Lebron too.  He also thought Jordan wasn't as good as Russell.  No one was as good as Bill Russell to him.
Look again, i got Russ ahead of LeBron in my chooseup. Putting people off their game will always be the greatest basketball talent.

.. You don't remember how little fans Golden State had before the "Splash Brothers" showed up?  Come on... There were more Lakers fans in your town than Golden State fans before they built that team.

Great post other than the quoted.  Could not be more incorrect.  GSW always had support, even in the Joe Barely Cares days.  Fans went crazy for .500 teams.  Don't let the commercialized crap fool you.  Were tickets easier to get and cheaper 25 years ago?  Of course, but that's true for all teams nowadays.  Oaktown backs their teams.

oh, and I agree that Tyrone Hill was undoubtedly the ugliest player ever, especially when a foul was called on him. Good memories of bad teams.

Like the Giants 3 champs in 5 years, it's hard to explain to my kids that I grew up with these teams being cellar dwellers for years.  Of course we see lots of new Dub gear around, but that's expected.

good luck to your team in the finals.  LeBron has such a fantastic squad around him they will be hard to beat.  Two All Stars and tons of shooters.  It's going to be fun!

glad to see a good post in this thread.  Trolls like weeebs have made this a difficult read.

The whole playoffs have been awful, so there has to be something to talk about, right?

As for the finals, no one has more pressure than Kevin Durant.  He basically has to not only win the finals, but has to play extremely well and be a major reason why they win.
And beat lebron.  I'm betting on LeBron

I have yet to see you add anything of substance to any conversation.  I'd love for you to prove me wrong.

Good luck to your favorite player in the championship, should be a great one.

Just sayin'....
I hate to be mean, but can the LeBron fanboys not read? He isn't saying LeBron doesn't understand it is a team game, he is saying the fanboys don't get it. I mean come on I even put it in bold.

And it has nothing to do with LeBron vs Jordan it is about the finals.

You should probably tailor your assumptions if you think I am a James fanboy. That's likely about as wrong as you could possibly be.

If it's a team game, why do people point to rings as the first argument when comparing LeBron to Jordan?

How the hell would I know what other people are thinking? My guess is just like other sports the star takes the blame and credit. Like Brady, Manning or the pitcher in baseball or the goalie in hockey.

So you just can't read, that is worse, the fanboys are at least defending their guy.
You posted an emoticon. Had you actually posted something of substance, I wouldn't have had to guess at your intentions. But apparently your intent is just to see who you can insult, so I'll leave you to it.

I am sorry for insulting you, but just read the post. I get tjnc is over the top on his Warriors, but it is hard to knock him if you don't read his post and at least comment on something related to the subject.

Let's tone down the negativity and bring it back to discussion level.  Nobody needs to get riled up or angered over having differing opinions and discussing them. That is kinda the entire point of this forum.

The second post read " Because of his outstanding vision and passing ability? " and you posted a shaking head no emoticon. So I naturally assumed you were disagreeing he had court vision. So I posted the career stats, that's it. Honestly, I don't really care that much about the topic TBH, so I'll just back out of the thread and let folks argue over whatever it is you are arguing about.

My favorite plays of this year's playoffs were when the Cavs were mounting their comeback in Game 4 v Celts. LBJ threw hard passes for treys @ Shumpert, then JRSmith  a few minutes apart. Both players put up shots so automatically and perfectly like daddy had just give em the ball and if it dont go in they'll never get it again. His work at times commands such unprecedented heft that i truly wish he wasnt so otherwise repulsive.

You know alot about daddy serving you up shots huh?

The team I root for has nothing to do with this.  I've said more than once in here how I loved watching the Spurs play and they OWNED the Warriors for years.  LeBron is a phenomenal player, but every superstar (even the goat - whoever that may be) still needs a supporting cast around him to win a ring.

The love here for LeBron cracks me up because people are completely ignoring how good the rest of the Cavaliers are.  They went 12-1 in the postseason and dominated the first three rounds.  A team with a single superstar and nothing else can not do that.  If they beat the Warriors again this year, it certainly isn't because LeBron did it by himself.
