I love how LeBron's biggest "fans" here are a Rockets fan, some guy with a Dez Bryant username, and some random from St. Louis :lmao:

I am re-watching game 5 right now on NBA TV and watched games 6 and 7 yesterday.  It was really amazing how big the Cavs defense stepped up in those games.  The Cavs allowed 1 point in the final 6 minutes at GS in game 5 and only allowed GS to score 13 pts in the 4th in game 5.

The other thing that stands out is how truly terrible Barnes played in those 3 games.  Plugging in a swap of Durant for Barnes is going to be why GS wins this series and likely wins it 4-1.  I wouldn't even be shocked if GS swept this series and last year shows just how much you have to appreciate how great LeBron and Kyrie were in games 5, 6 and 7.  I know Green was out game 5 and they may very well have won the series if he played but he did stupid things all playoffs like kicking people and swinging at LeBron.  If he doesn't do those things he doesn't get suspended so he only has himself to blame.  Now GS had Green for both games 6 and 7 and still lost so we can't 100% say for sure GS would won game 5 with Green it is one of those things no one will ever know.

I never expected the Cavs to win last year after the way they got pummeled in game 2 losing 110-77.  For the Cavs to have that kind of will to shake off that kind of loss and still think they could compete against a 73 win team the greatest regular season team in history was amazing to see.  The fact they beat GS 120-90 game 3 was truly remarkable.

What LeBron and the Cavs accomplished last year was truly remarkable.  Coming back down 3-1 against a 73 win team and winning 2 games on the road against a team that went 39-2 in the regular season at home not to mention winning game 7 on the road something that rarely happens in the NBA finals and was like 1978 or something the last time it happened.

While I would love the Cavs to win another championship I am not expecting it.  A 73 win team last year adds one of the top 5 NBA players to their roster is unheard of.  A team that already had the 2 time MVP in Curry.  The last 5 MVP awards have gone to players in this series.  Curry last 2 years, Durant before that and LeBron the 2 years before that.

LeBron already solidified his legacy with last year's amazing comeback win vs the best regular season team in history in the way he came back from down 3-1 and to win game 7 on the road so nothing that happens this year or in future years will ever take that away even if they are swept 4-0.  I just don't think you can expect another performance like that from LeBron, Kyrie and the Cavs.

The off-season will be interesting. Even though LeBron doesn't feel like he is an underdog and a big one at that what will the Cavs be able to do to try and match GS getting Durant ?  The Cavs will be 1 superstar away as GS has 4 of them and the Cavs have 3.  The only way would be for the Cavs to add a Paul George or similar player to even the odds next year but that is never going to happen.  It was just right time and right place for GS to be able to add Durant last year.

Steph got exposed in those games, too. I watched only to see LeBron get whooped - i had pretty much stopped watching the NBA for about 5 yrs because players had become so uncoachable and the early yrs of 3&D were so ugly and LeBron was always in the finals, but Splashball & Stevens's Celts had brought me back a little - but the Cavs exploitation of Curry's need to always keep his cazh was as important as the suspension & Barnes's brickitis. Hope he shows more stones this yr.

Steph had a ####ed up knee. He couldn't even shake Kevin Love.

Anyone (besides ctsu) interested in wagering on this series?  $5 and the Cavs for me vs. $11 and the Warriors for you.  I think that's the going rate.

Pistons dangling the 12 for a player to help them when now.  Is this a job for Kenneth faried?
I like SVG, but I'm not sure what he's doing in Detroit. He's got a pretty good reputation, but I wonder how much rope he has left to do something there. I don't think adding whatever player the #12 pick gets comes even close to fixing their problems.

The Pistons are the perfect example of what happens when you DON'T tank at least 1-2 seasons.  The best draft pick they've had was the 7th pick, and now most of the rotation was picked between #8 and #15.  So basically they have a bunch of average players.  When things go right, they sneak into the playoffs and a 1st round exit.  When things go wrong, they miss the playoffs by a few games.  Repeat for about 10 years.

The problem is they can't really do much else with their cap situation.  they are locked in to drummond, jackson, harris and KCP and I doubt that pick number 12 will move the needle that much for them.  Although I'm not sure who they can reasonably get for that pick that would help that much.

though looking at DX, currently they have Don Mitchell in at number 12 who has been a recent riser based on the combine and his measurables (6'2" with a 6'10" wingspan) and getting another playmaker in the backcourt probably would be a nice thing for them.  If the team doesn't improve this year, though, SVG's seat is probably getting warm.

No player the Pistons could add for #12 will solve their problems but Faried?  If Detroit is going to take a chance on a depressed asset on the Nuggets it should probably be Emmanuel Mudiay.  With Drummond, Morris, and Harris starting and Boban, Leuer, and Baynes $6.5 mil player option already on the roster the front court seems rostered up.  The team needs some outside shooting desperately - even after they hand Caldwell-Pope a big contract.

Best realistic package SVG could offer would be a combination of 12 and Stanley Johnson (& Leuer?) for a wing that can shoot.  Or a RFA type like Tony Snell or CJ Miles could work if they get creative.  Moving into their new building may be an underrated reason why some of these moves are even being discussed.

Good news if you're a Cavs fan.

Stephen A. Smith has incorrectly picked the winner of the NBA Finals 6 years in a row,

He changed his pick for this year to Warriors in 7.

You're going to need at least an old priest and a young priest to counteract that one.

Smart move on his part. He can't be wrong this year. He took the Cavs earlier this year and is now taking the Warriors.

So how did the Spurs do it? How about the Warriors?
Well the Spurs drafted Duncan with the #1 pick.  They have 0 championships without him.  And are you talking about the Warriors team that got beat last year by 2 guys who were drafted #1 overall, so in the offseason they added a guy who was drafted #2 overall?  You seem to enjoy creating an argument in this thread, but your examples stink.

He might be referring to a team that the won the title built around 7th, 11th, and a second rounder

Duncan is gone now and was bad his last couple years and the Spurs are still one of the best teams in the league. The Warriors won a title and lost in game 7 the following year without a top pick. Thanks for playing try again.

Yes it is possible to win a championship without a top draft pick in your lineup.  Just very very unlikely.  So back to my original point, this Pistons lineup is headed nowhere.  They would be in a much better position if they had tanked at some point  ?

the pistons won a title without a top draft pick against a totally stacked lakers team didnt they take that to the bank brohan

:lmao:  You must still be drunk from the weekend

Really rooting on Durant. The last basketball jersey I purchased was an OKC Durant jersey, prob about 5-6 years ago, might dust it off for this series. Hopefully Lebron doesn't turn him into a puppet.
