Chloe Moretz 'appalled and angry' over body-shaming Snow White animated film advert

Steph had a ####ed up knee. He couldn't even shake Kevin Love.
To mark the official start of HOT TAKE season, here's a doozy I've had queued up for a while:

Steph shook Love twice on that possession and had clean looks he should have taken considering the game situation (down 3 you want to shoot early in case you miss).  He passed them up because he wanted a highlight reel ankle-breaking crossover for the ages.

The ratings for this should be insane. Not only due to the star power and rematch but people like me (casual fans of the nba) are starving for some quality basketball. I haven't watched a single playoff game this year because we all knew this series was inevitable. But we're all tuning in now.

Speaking of takes, has anyone else caught DeRozan Pippen on "The Jump"?  His takes aren't hot, but cool and calm.  Need more ex-players like that in commentary instead of the Barkley/Shaq assclowns.

If you weren't watching before because you thought the end result was inevitable but you're tuning in now, I've got some bad news for you.

ABC is paying like a trillion dollars for these games. Just be happy it's not one game a week.
For once, they're gonna make some of their money back. Can barely stand to watch LBJ, and Steph was undistilled punkass##### (for whatever reason) last finals, but even so i'm past SuperBowl and on to '70s Heavyweight Championship levels of anticipation for this'n.

I hate this take.  LeBron has nothing to lose and everything to gain in this situation.  If GS wins, the favorite wins and LeBron's team again was undermanned against a superior opponent.  If Cleveland wins, ZOMG WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE UNDERDOG STORY! and people will want to say that LeBron has passed Jordan up as the greatest of all time.  That's ridiculous.  If LeBron is the greatest all time, his team should be given no less than a 50-50 shot to win a seven game series.

[Not trying to paint you, TF, as one who would have that take, just using your assumption of the lock].

Here's the 1996 all-NBA voting. Let's take fourth-runner up Pippen off the Bulls' roster and replace him with someone similar to Irving's stature in the current league, say Mitch Richmond.  Now the 1996 Bulls vaguely resemble the 2017 Cavs in terms of star power.

Then let's take the Stockton/Malone Jazz and give them Grant Hill and Charles Barkley.  That team now vaguely resembles the 2017 Warriors.

When the Jazz subsequently destroy the Bulls in three games in the 1996 Finals (NBC cancelled Game 4 so they could air reruns of Caroline in the City instead), would you say that Jordan can't possibly be the greatest of all time?

Thought that was the case the last two years too
Well we were right one of the times.  And I still can't figure out how Cleveland won last year. Perfect storm of the Draymond suspension, Barnes going ice cold at the worst possible time, and everyone except Draymond Green struggling with the burden of Game 7 at home, I reckon.  Anyway, it's much less likely this time IMO, barring injury. Not impossible of course, but it would probably be the biggest upset in Finals history. Although Zach Lowe gave the Cavs a fighting chance on his pod yesterday with Jeff Van Gundy, which in turn gave me some hope that maybe it'll be entertaining. Van Gundy agreed with my blowout prediction.

Unrelated: I very much enjoyed The Onion AV Club's "What's On Tonight" page today. Hat tip to @Notorious T.R.E., who I just noticed is responsible for putting that in my twitter timeline.

Or competed so well the first year without Love/Irving.  The Warriors are such a complete and dominant team; it's fun to watch LeBron go up against them.  I agree though, it is hard to see this one being close.  Cavs are going to need Irving to catch fire again.

The Cavs have enough volatility with the 3 pointer to win this series. God, I hope the Dubs destroy them.

I don't dislike either team and am glad they split the last two, so I hope it comes down to the final possession in Game 7 again. A 2.5 week takeocylopse

I get your point, but disagree to extreme nature of talent disparity.  I think you are undervaluing the Cleveland roster.  But, this is a pointless debate since we are so far away from each other.  Enjoy the games!

The Cavs have more than a fighting chance.  Love is playing the best he's ever played for the Cavs and Kyrie and LeBron are healthy.  When those three play well, their offense is tough to stop.  Throw in a few guys that know their roles and they are a complete team.  Their big 3 will play heavier minutes than GSW's big 4 and that may end up being the difference, but with all of the time between games, the Cavs shorter bench won't be as big of a factor.

If push comes to shove, I'm sure Kerr/Brown will ride the starters hard. I think that's what Kerr learned from last year.

No credit to Cavs players lol. Cavs won by playing better in 4/7 games. Enough said.

just hoping for a good series.  the playoffs has been a snooze fest so far.  neither team had a very rough road.  shame leonard was out cause i think the spurs could have won one or two games.  the teams seem very even to me.  kind of surprised warriors are such a favorite.  seems like a pick em. esp with how both teams are dominant on the road.

the cavs really turned on the defense the last 3 games last year.

if kyrie and love had played in the first finals we might be looking at a three peat chance for the cavs.  not sure they would have been enough though as love esp was not that much of a difference maker that first year.

Yeah, I never give LeBron and the Cavs any credit around here.

The "Even with LeBron playing as well as he ever has and Irving going absolutely bananas in Game 5 ..." part was implied.

?? That is not in the post I highlighted. That's alot to imply.

I know, that's what "implied" means.

We all saw what the Cavs and LeBron did in the 2016 Finals.  It was amazing.  I've raved about it many times in here.  Didn't think I needed to do it again. That's why I only talked about the stuff that was mostly unaffected by the Cavs' play (Draymond suspension, Barnes shooting far worse than you'd expect on wide-open looks, nerves at home in Game 7 when facing the prospect of their 73-9 season becoming a punch line).  It wasn't intended to take anything away from one of the must impressive efforts I've ever seen from the Cavs.

:lmao:

Stockton, Malone, Hill & Barkley were arguably 4 of the top 10 players in the NBA at that time.  The Warriors don't have 4 of the top 10 players in the NBA. They have a couple of top 5 guys in Durant and Curry and a couple of top 20 guys in Green and Thompson (although Thompson had a down season this year and is the clear statistical loser with Durant on the team).

You could add a couple of all-stars like Sean Elliot and Glen Rice to Stockton/Malone.  That team would have been pretty dang formidable as well, but less outrageous.  And MJ with a great scorer like Richmond (and I assume he still gets to keep Rodman as a Kevin Love comp), would probably still have a pretty good shot at beating the Jazz superteam.  They probably also need a better 4th player because Tristan Thompson is playing very well right now and is a better player today than Luc Longley ever was.

This whole thing is going to come down to matchups.  Durant makes things very different on both ends.  Cleveland is going to need to rely more on great offense to outscore GS because the Warriors will have a lot of matchup nightmares.

Is Kerr still working daily with the Warriors, or is he just coming in from time to time?  They will need him to game plan and not having him on the bench to make adjustments is going to hurt quite a bit.  I expect the Cavs to throw every defensive combination possible at GS during the series.

Right, but also Stockton and Malone weren't the second and third best players in the league like Curry and Durant (winners of the last three MVP trophies) are, so I had to make up that difference a little.

Anyway, the details weren't really important. The broader point was that simply having the best player of all time (if LeBron is that) doesn't automatically give you a 50/50 shot no matter the competition. At some point the opposition can be so stacked that any player would be the clear underdog even with a solid roster around him.  That's the case here. Warriors are currently -250.
