2016 Cakeleeg ***OFFICIAL*** - 2017 draft starting soon (1 Viewer)

My scouting team has him as the starting shortstop batting in the 2 hole. :coffee:
Your scouting team must've missed that he literally can't throw the ball to first.

Really hope he works out because he can rake, but there is talk of promoting a defensive whiz who was in AA last year.

If I get drafted in this league, this too is the first line of the scouting report on me. Followed by: can't hit, too slow on the bases, adequate glove in warmups. Great clubhouse guy.

16.10 - Mark Trumbo - 1B/OF - BAL

I gotta say that I'm pretty pleased with this pick at the end of the 16th round.  Sure, Trumbo's OBP will be pretty bad (~.300), but multi-positional eligibility hitting 4th or 5th in a stacked Orioles lineup in the 2nd most HR-friendly ballpark in the country?  My power boner is predicting 30+ bombs.

Yeah, that is weird.

And I've started all of my drafts by pre-crossing out Elvis Andrus for the past five years.

Not draftable
I'm not sure how a guy with 30+ HR, 90+ RBI potential hitting in the middle of one of the most potent lineups in baseball in a bandbox stadium is undraftable.  Trumbo on his own is certainly not that sexy, but his surrounding conditions this season are about as good as you can ask for as a power hitter.  I think he is a value in the 16th round.  Eno Sarris from Fangraphs named Trumbo as one of his 1B value picks this year.

Because he'll torpedo your OBP

Well, sometimes, that's the price you gotta pay for late round power production.  It's not like there are a bunch of high OBP guys still left out there.  Most of the remaining players are all going to torpedo your OBP.  Might as well come along with some slugger run production.

Don't let these guys shake your faith. He's bombing this year.

Maybe not all by himself, but when you pair him up with Chris Carter.....
:lmao:

Fair enough.  My initial plan was to take either Carter or Trumbo, but I just couldn't pass up all that late power.  I've always been a sucker for Adam Dunn-types.  Anyways, my projections suggest that I'm still middle of the pack in OBP while leading the power categories.

I'm a bitter UBER owner of both and those slugs destroyed me last year.  I like both to have better years and agree with your thought process.

Your projections have you middle of the pack in OBP with Chris carter and Mark trumbo?

Well, technically lower middle of the pack, but we're talking about a .001 point differential between my team and the top middle of the pack.  I'm in the hunt for OBP mediocrity.
