Would think Rollins would be back...didn't he get cleared late in the week?
I think if he had gotten cleared it would have been all hands on deck, and he would have played
I thought he was cleared too. I was surprised he wasn't out there. I'd expect him playing this week. We need him badly

Just read still inthe protocol but doing what he is allowed in practice/workouts.

They seemed upbeat on Burnett...didn't seem to mention Adams.  And said Jordy did things in workouts and they would see if he could practice Wednesday (I'd say no way he practices til late i the week if even then)

I am very surprised about Adams... I would have bet a good amount of money that he messed his knee up badly. I almost walked out of the room when that happened

Sounds like we could be getting healthy-ish at a crucial time

I didn't listen to his press conference.  Just the twitter notes and didn't see Adams mentioned.

Was just watching that last throw again, and yes the catch was amazing getting the feet in, but that throw was sick. If you watch it, it doesn't ever get probably more than 8 - 10 feet off the ground or so and its got pop to it when it gets to Cook about 40 yards in the air on a line. Running (Although mostly slowed way down) to his left and putting it on the money 40 yards away. Also amazing, Aaron is only about 3-4 yards from the same sideline and has to lead cook a little. I am not saying its the greatest throw or anything, but I bet not many QB's can make that throw at all and definitely considering the moment in which he makes it. I like Rodgers reaction which you can see in the distance, almost like he is stopping to help Cook stay in. I know there are a few other great QB's but how many others can make that throw at that moment, few if any.

Fantastic for sure.  Had another one on the run earlier in the game.  Rolling right...threw back across his body to the middle of the field on a line to Geronimo.  There was zero worry from me about him breaking that rule of throwing back across the middle.

that and the sideline throw and catch to Cobb where it looked like he was throwing it away and then Cobb makes that catch.

Just catching up on yesterday's game thread and this thread. Nice to see some sanity return regarding McCarthy and Capers and their coaching abilities. With all the adversity they've faced this year this may be McCarthy's best year yet. Regardless of how this season ends fans should be proud of this team. It's stuck together through thick and thin. Hard to pin point what it is but this team seems to have that IT factor.

At this point in the week I'm not real confident in next week's game. Not sure how long that string and tape job of a defensive backfield can hold up. (Of course, it's the playoffs. I'm nervous about every game). Who knows? They've managed to do it so far. If later in the week it looks like we can get Burnett and Collins back I'll feel more confident. Would love to see Jordy back as well but I don't expect it.

Collins is unretiring?!?! haha just busting your balls... I know what you meant

I am nervous about this week because Atlanta has an offense that can score like Green Bay.

now correct me if I'm wrong but regardless of who wins, they will have the worst defenses to ever make it to the superbowl if I'm remember right? Atlanta has a worse defense than GB I believe but I don't have the desire to go look that up...

Ooops, sorry about that. Although it would be great having Collins back there.

Capers almost cost them this game. McCarthy gained a lot of respect from me when he called that screen late.  That was a thing of beauty.

Atlanta Defense:  PPG 25.4 (27th), RYPG 104.5 (17th), PYPG 266.7 (28th), 12 Interceptions (18th), Sacks 34 (16th), Rating  92.5 (22nd)

Packers Defense:  PPG  24.2 (22nd), RYPG   94.7 (8th), PYPG 269.2 (31st), Interceptions 17 (4th), Sacks 40 (6th), Rating 95.9 (26th)

So yeah, gonna to be some scoring this weekend.  To be honest, this game is probably going to come down to who gets the last possession.  Both teams have turnstile pass defenses.

I would argue the back to back blitzes Dallas' final 2 pass plays helped win the game.  Forced a quick out pass to Beasley for a short gain and Clay's pressure on Dak caused him to rush the throw that Perry knocked down.  It's amazing they stopped them at all once Burnett went down.  Considering what he has to work with I'm not sure what more anyone can expect out of the defense?

True, but the walking wounded excuse gets old.  This is the roster they decided on.  They are really only missing one guy (Sam Shields).  Burnett went out in the game, that happens.  One player doesn't take you from be a turnstile to being legit on D.  I read a stat earlier this year that after year three (anyplace he's been) Capers has never had a defense ranked above 25th in the league.  Meaning that after his defense is fully implemented, it has never been better than 25th.  That's terrible.  I hope he doesn't cost them.

I can't imagine any defensive coordinator having success with those DB's Green Bay is trotting out their right now.  I blame Thompson more than anyone for that especially seeing how cheap Casey Hayward's contract was this year.

All the coaches have input into the roster though, right?  Yeah Ted whiffed on Rollins and Damarious and then doubled down by letting Heyward, House, and Williams walk.  Terrible positional management there.  Hopefully his best move of all time can compensate for that.

You are forgetting Rollins has been out and that Perry is playing with a club.  You are ignoring that Raji gave them a bit of a spring surprise and that Pennell is now gone too.  That Matthews may not be all the way back from injury, or Randall for that matter, and that Gunther was hurt in game as was Burnett.  It is more than one guy and you know this as well as anyone, you follow them closer than do I.  You know they had injuries to Thomas, Ryan, and Martinez.

Do I like the defense I have seen this year, no.  do I like it given the challenges, absolutely.  I am trying to recall, against the Giants did they force 5 or 6 punts, or was it seven.  That's defense.  did they generate a turnover and a couple of stops on the road, in Dallas, against an efficient and effective offense?

They may suck, but they are our sluts and we love their sucking.

House was benched most of the year in Jacksonville but who knows what's going on there.

I stayed out until 4:30 after the game, probably a little much for a divisional round win.

I've been as big of a Capers critic as anyone this season but at this point how can you not be impressed with his ability to put no namers out there. Honestly, I consider myself a pretty astute Packer fan, not obsessive, but when I see players names that I've never heard of (Brice? Hawkins?), and that team is in the conference championship, I give that DC a lot of credit. I don't put the score on him at all... he's doing his best IMO. These are guys I really haven't seen much at all this year so I was very unfamiliar with their names and they played well and they seemed prepared. Played about as well as you can expect from a rookie UDFA on one of the biggest stages in the NFL

Hayward would be soooooooo nice to have. This speaks more to Thompson having complete faith in Shields, Randall, Rollins. He felt no need for Hayward; probably felt like Hayward would hold back Randall and Rollins from taking that next step. Randall looked lost. Can't wait to get Rollins back. Wouldn't next year look so much better with Hayward and Randall/Rollins rather than what will likely be Randall/Rollins as our starting two corners?

I'm not so sure you can say he whiffed on those guys back last March when these FA signings are happening. They were rookies. I remember this same conversation back when TT took Finley. He had a pretty poor first year and everyone was screaming bust. Then he went on to have a pretty impressive shortish career with GB.

How many rookie DBs (or any rookies for that matter) come out and completely wow people in their first season? The list is pretty short across the league. I think each team would be thrilled if 1-2 players out of their draft class made a huge impact on the team that season. You can't just give up on players after 1 season. There was little indication that either of these DBs would not take a step the next season; they were both drafted as raw athletes who will need work. If they don't put in the work that's the fault of themselves.

I think it's reasonable to say that one of Rollins or Randall would be a pretty good CB2 and the other would be a great slot DB. In fact, with a healthy Shields and with Hyde as the swiss army knife, one could have said GB would have potential to have one of the best dime packages in the league, back in March/April. Obviously this didn't come to fruition.

I am frustrated that TT didn't try to beef up his DBs with another draft pick, but it's been pointed out in here (quite correctly) that:
1. They had Hyde as an emergency CB
2. They like Gunter (I would agree, I like his development)
3. You can't predict Shields would be lost for the year/career.

I'd say all of those things considered I would take back my comments I made earlier about Thompson and his lack of CB depth... Sure Heyward would have been great. I think that was a mistake but I think Thompson looked at it as why put any more money toward the CB position when you have Shields and two developing draft picks coming up the ranks? I think that's a reasonable position. Hindsight, sure it looks like Thompson screwed the pooch. Shields got hurt and Randall is just trying to avoid the "come on man!" segment (they still have that right?)

I'm more interested to see what Thompson does this offseason. Shields is obviously gone. Lots of money freed up with 2 players under a rookie contract. Does he put his entire faith in Randall/Rollins... I'm not sure he can. Does he take a CB round 1? Sign a big name? Claiborne is a FA... he can sure hide a hold... Hayden? Gilmore? Those guys are likely looking for a Shields type contract. Get rid of Shields I think we can afford one of them. Problem is Thompson refuses to do this. We will probably get Terrance Newman

Randall/Rollins will not be our two starting corners next year.

Davante Adams won't practice until Saturday.

Geronimo Allison showed up on the injury report today as well with a hamstring injury.

Jordy is looking very doubtful.

So this Sunday we'll have a very thin WR corps and an even thinner DB group.

I got a text this morning stating barring some kind of set back or slow down to his recovery Rollins will likely be cleared to play before game day. Sorry if this is known information, wasn't known to me and my buddy seemed pretty excited

Edit, he also said nothing that we all already didn't know with Jordy Nelson kind of practicing. Apparently he's breathing fine now. He seemed super excited about the possibility of him suiting up. Earlier this week I was 50/50 leaning no on my expectations of him playing, but after reading how great he seems to be doing I am pretty pumped... I think it's likely Jordy plays (I'll bump my expectation up to 75%, but it's probably more of an emotional high seeing how positive someone close to the situation is). Right now it's 100% a pain tolerance thing for him whether or not he plays. Seeing how he does in limited practice this week and how his body responds. How effective he will be will be interesting

I say 50/50.  I think Jordy will do everything he can to play...but not sure he will convince McKenzie and McCarthy to let him.

Figured on Rollins...McCarthy's tone yesterday seemed to be pretty optimistic on him.

Anu rookie worth his salt will beat these two clowns out.

#### McKenzie.  That conservative ##### costs us 1-2 games each year.

Laughing about Rodgers saying "size matters".  It may not be R-E-L-A-X, but it is classic.
I was surprised how small Mark Chmura's hands were on the wall at the Packer HOF. No wonder he went for HS girls...hey-ooooo!  (I actually talked to an investigating detective who was on that case and Chmura was incredibly innocent. Lots of information on that case did not come up in the media and maybe wasn't even allowed to come up to the media. I was extremely surprised at the information I was told, specifically about the girl.)

McCarthy saying if this was a regular season game...Jordy, Adams, andAllison likely wouldn't play (not practicing like this all week)

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this game.  The injuries are piling up and I feel like every GB fan is just assuming a victory here.  The Falcons have a very good offense.

I was just having this conversation with a patient. Everyone I talk to is super confident that the Packers are going to win. Atlanta is a very good team. Their offense is one that can go point for point with GB. I had a bad feeling about Dallas too. So maybe it's just those cheese curds again...

I would disagree with you jurrassic on the injuries. This week they are possibly going to have the shortest inactive list than they've had the last month. I am fully expecting Jordy, Adams, and Rollins to play. Burnett I am nervous about as I haven't heard anything very positive (or negative) on his progress this week. He is key.
Jordy it's a pain management issue. It's not really the MD's call... his ribs are going to be the same risk today as they will be in 4 weeks... it's a pain control thing. If Jordy can tolerate the pain he can play.
Adams I am hearing is getting rest to avoid aggravation and heal as much as he can before the game
Rollins should be cleared soon and he will suit up immediately

I forget.  I thought it was a score.  It may have been barely knicked by a defender's finger.
That I think was the TD.

The one late on 3rd down IMO was better.  Just wizzed past the LBs ear to Jennings who was then barely tripped up by the safety or he may take it for the score.

Huge play and the pass was so damn precise.

Both the Cook play this past week and the one to Cobb to start the 3rd quarter was so damn good too though.

Hopefully this is a bit of gamesmanship.
Could be...he also said in a way they are giving Allison and Adams the week.  I think they are concerned...but being very precautious especially with Allison.

Adams probably needs the week.  I don't see anyway he misses the game.  Even after last year...Id rather him go out there a little gimpy than not have him or Jordy.

I'm not confident in a win at all, kind of in the mode of playing with house money at this point. I was surprised the line was 4.5 though, I think it's a coinflip.

ATL has problems of their own, aside from also losing their #1 CB for the year. Julio is still hurt (they'll say he's fine for the game but it's clear he's not 100%), DE Clayborn is out, and maybe Shanahan is distracted by thoughts of leaving for a new job.

The WR injuries don't look great but in AZ last year against a much better defense Rodgers almost won without Nelson, Adams or Cobb (injured without any catches).
