***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

It will never get old.
Never.

Just like it will never get old thinking about how great the Cavaliers played when they came back from being down 3-1 in the Finals and won the title.

Or how JR Smith spent the entire offseason shirtless, including the team plane ride back to Cleveland after Game 7, which the Cavaliers won on the road to win the Finals.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but this obsessive need to cut the natural sound every time someone curses, is absolutely ruining the viewing experience. It's extremely jarring, it totally disrupts the flow of the action, and I feel like Joe Buck is in my living room.

shudder:
Agreed.  If the networks don't want us to hear language, then don't show close-ups of teams celebrating after big plays, because the random cut offs of sound suck something awful.

My Facebook feed is about 12 minutes away from being flooded by people complaining about how long they have to wait in the emergency room to get their ankle x-rayed

MLB Postseason business update...World Series 'if wins' are in:

Cubs 60% / Indians 17% / Dodgers 12% / Jays 11%

The Cubs WS winning orders alone are bigger than the entire Postseasons (PS clinch-Div-LDS-LCS-WS) from '10-'14.

It would be the largest 'special event' (WS/Super Bowl/Stanley Cup/NBA/NCAA) in history.

You know I love reading about this stuff.  In fact, I drove by the Academy by my house yesterday and flashed on how long the line was at midnight the night the Royals won the ALCS last year.

Not surprised Cubs are leading here.  You told us a year or two ago that a Cubs WS win would shatter records, and their fans seem poised to make that happen.

Little surprised the Cleveland percentage isn't higher, but given the combo of a half-century of curses and the recent Cavs title (when they came back from down 3-1 to beat the Warriors) I can see how that fan base would be a bit more cautious.

A little more perspective may help.  All 4 markets are strong, and larger than KC was last year (and larger than any since '09)...and you know what a feeding frenzy that was there.  LA is a big national brand...the Jays have an entire country and large Toronto market...and the Indians fanbase is passionate and out-performing both.  That shows you how big that Chicago win would really be.

We're also working on some cool new Cleveland concepts working with the Cavs.

Best part of Cleveland is that they have plenty of disposal income from not wasting money buying tickets for regular season games.

How does Toronto compare to last year? I'd assume that it is a bit lower this time around.

Whoa.  So the percentage looks low, until you back up and see how #######g HUGE the pie is.  Gotcha.  Thanks!  Looks like it's going to be a monster merch postseason no matter who wins the Series.

So what happened here?  Didn't they sell out for a decade before?

Also interesting that Merritt is the SP tonight and Lackey is SP for the Cubs.  Hope he pulls off a rookie Lackey.

Aside from wanting to see CLE win, really rooting for this kid on the mound. What an opportunity in his 2nd big league start.  Chance to send your team to world series and, more importantly,  shut up those annoying ####### Jays.

This is what sports are all about right here.

The Toronto heckler yelling "you suck" five times an at bat to Tribe players needs to ease up on the Molson.

What are Bautista, Pillar, and Martin combined for in the playoffs?  5-90?

Can't ask for more than that. Kid impressed me back in Sept and he was a little wild in that game. Pretty much nails today.
