***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

I know you're not supposed to bring in closer on the road in a tie game but Donaldson, EE, Joey bats I feel they have to bring him in right now.

When you have a Cy Young candidate in your bullpen, there's really no point in bringing him out in a high-leverage bottom of the 9th against the heart of your opponents lineup. Or wait. No. The opposite.

Gotta wait for the save situation! And when you get in trouble, definitely go to the Darren O'Day well.

He should get roasted.  He should have learned from the mistake and brought in Britton after the leadoff double
These things always seem to work out for Buck, we'll see.  I would have started him in the 9th looking to get two innings with O'Day there after that.  But I'm not even wearing pants right now.

Right. Ideally, you want your best pitcher in there for the highest leverage situation. Whether its the first inning or the tenth. You just take a risk putting him in in the 1st that there will be a bigger moment later. This really might be the a fireable offense if I'm the O's front office.

Joe Maddon talks a lot about outcome bias. Anyone who think Buck shouldn't be drawn and quartered right now is a classic example.

As a Pirates fan, I'm still very bitter about the Liriano trade.  He was one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year as a Pirate.  Then he goes to Toronto.......

Torre did this in the 03 World Series when he left Jeff Weaver out there to give up a walkoff homer to Alex Gonzalez when he had Mariano Rivera sitting there in the pen just hangin out. Still makes me sick

BS managing baseball is like how I imagine it would be for me to coach cricket. I have a vague idea of how the game is supposed to go, but I don't know anything about the rules or basic strategy.

I am as big a Buck believer as anybody but I have to say I am not feeling good about this move.  Buck has cultivated confidence in quite a few players by putting them in positions to succeed and by giving them some lead by having the patience to go tot them even when others might not, But, this move is really dangerous as Ubaldo can revert at any moment.

Come on O's!!

Getting rid of Buck has been historically good for teams. He's giving the O's a reason to see if that trend continues

This isn't even hindsight being 20/20.  I can't wait to hear his reasoning for not bringing Britton into this game
