***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

If you can do that on the mound, most MLB players get picked off unless they are standing on the bag.
He almost got picked off on the pitch prior.  If they didn't call a balk on that, then Harper has to realize he can't get too far off the bag.  It's 100% on the player, nothing to do with the umpires.

When the inning started it was 1-0 and Scherzer was at 98 pitches.

Five pitchers and one out later, it's 4-1 and Dusty double-switched out a guy who just doubled last inning and has looked good all series.

So when do they get Trea back on the dirt? Nice job by Werth getting over there to help out. My 11 year old LF would be hearing about that.

Dusty Baker....yikes!!  Over managing...

Max was cruising...not like he was getting lit up and even the HR pitch was not a bad pitch. Max could have easily went another inning...that is why you pay him the big bucks.

What a #### show by the Nationals coaching staff in the last inning.  :X
And it's still not over.
And I was wrong when I said the pick-off was 100% on the player.  Lopes needs to tell Harper that the Urias move looks like a balk and he should stick close.  So that, sending 58-year-old Werth, double-switching out RZimm, and pulling Scherzer are all huge mistakes.  I mean what a breakdown, you can't have this happen in a deciding game in the playoffs.

I've always been one of Johnny B's biggest defenders in the Baseball Forum but some of what makes him a good manager over the 162 game haul comes back to bite him in a short series.

And yet as a Nationals fan....I could not have scripted it better.

He should manage the team in the regular season, and they should let Connie Mack's corpse manage the team in October.

The Heisey move worked though, but now he's down to two bench players.
