2016 NFL Coaches & GM changes: impacts on systems and players (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Joe Philbin - OT - Dolphins

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins firing coach Joe Philbin in-season "remains a possibility."

This is pure speculation at this point, of course, but when given the chance, owner Stephen Ross failed to endorse Philbin as the Dolphins' coach for the remainder of 2015. Miami is off to a lousy 1-2 start, barely squeaking by the Redskins Week 1 before losing back-to-back games to the Jaguars and Bills. According to writer Barry Jackson, players are also starting to make some noise, complaining about the length and intensity of a recent practice. The Dolphins were believed to be privately flirting with now-Falcons coach Dan Quinn after last season.

I really don't know what to think when I realize that Detroit's the last team without a win (and will likely be at least 0-5) and yet Caldwell's not on this lists Faust is linking >.>.

If they (Miami) can start winning, maybe Ford will wake up out of his coma and fire Caldwell because they are starting 0-5 and look like they can also lose to the Bears. If Miami keeps losing, Ford will just let Caldwell run his course for his contract. Such a loser franchise.

Now that Joe Philbin has been fired who will be the next coach to be let go?

Joe Philbin's team beat the Washington Redskins this year. Philbin got fired.

It's easy to see that Tom Coughlin will be the next one fired. ;)

I have to say Detroit's head coach has to be on the hot seat. They continually to lose and he shows no emotion like he doesn't care that they lost.

We have a couple of weeks before we get the opportunity to see what he looks like when they win. Hope they can't afford to pay Calvin in 2016 and they release him when he says 'no' to a restructure. If I was him I would never restructure for these ###-hats.

Neither would I. Would love to see him sign with a top 5 qb and really do some damage. He still has it but stafford isn't throwing 50+times a game anymore and barely targets him. I would say next on the hot seat would have to be houston tonight if they lose.

Caldwell is safe. Martha Firestone Ford is at the Alen Park practice facility almost every day and goes to every game. The 90-year old widow didn't even acknowledge her ownership until 18 months after WCF passed.

Bill Jr. apparently has lost any will to exert any influence. Hiring Matt Milen will do that to a man.

Hot seat? Oh #### it's not even warm for JC. You have to totally #### up for years to get fired from the Lions.

How safe is Andy Reid? 1-4 and regressing for a 2nd straight season or does the loss of Charles grant him a mulligan for '15?
Thats actually a good question. I could definitely see that as an excuse if the season starts to unwind as they were winning with him until he went down and then their offense kind of stalled. I think pettine saved his job for the season with that win unless they go 0-6 the next 6 games. Also think Houston coach has to be on the hot seat if they do not win this week. Saints also as there is rumors now that he is intrigued with the colts and dolphins so maybe the colts too is on the hot seat. Im saying by next season there will be atleast 5 head coach firings. 1 is already down 4 more to go

I brought it up because USA Today has Reid as #2 behind Caldwell. They started off on fire under Reid with that 9-0 start but its been all downhill since. There were some high expectations going into this year.

As someone who lives in philly and had to endure Reid he just cannot draft and i never thought he was that good of a coach. He came to a team that had a bunch of talent and it seems he ran it into the ground

Did some poking around the Google and reading various KC boards and blogs there is not a lot of Reid/Smith support. Would Chiefs fans really rather have Todd Haley back next year? C'mon KC, this is only year 3...you still have 11 more lest you be labelled as "impatient" and "undeserving of the brilliance of Andy Reid".

Rotoworld:

Coach Andy Reid said he isn't considering giving up offensive play-calling duties.

Reid was asked specifically if he'd give up his play-calling duties in order to help out with other parts of the team. "Well, I think I spend a lot of time on it anyways — not a lot of wasted hours," Reid said. "Listen, I trust my coaches that they can coach their positions, and I try to keep an eye on that on both sides of the ball and special teams. That’s part of my job." The Chiefs run one of the blandest offenses and are currently 27th in red-zone touchdown efficiency.

I remember watching the Senior Bowl this year and I heard Gus Bradley making one of his cliched speeches to the players. I got the impression that there wasn't much football intelligence beyond his Rah Rah sunshine and rainbows speeches.

Unfortunately for us, it looks like this is the case.

No one tells Andy Reid what to do.

No one tells Andy Reid what to do.
And without a forklift they don't push him around, either.
