2016 Rio Olympics - Water Pollution (1 Viewer)

Listening the Mike & Mike, I have to agree... Why isn't this a bigger issue? How do they address this?

http://news.yahoo.com/ap-test-rio-olympic-water-050254541.html

In July, the AP reported that its first round of tests showed disease-causing viruses directly linked to human sewage at levels up to 1.7 million times what would be considered highly alarming in the U.S. or Europe. Experts said athletes were competing in the viral equivalent of raw sewage and exposure to dangerous health risks almost certain.

That ####show should be cancelled.

And i am talking about every water sports event in Baia de Guanabara and Lagoa

I think there are always these stories of how unprepared places are for the Olympics - places unfinished, security issues, etc - but these seem more messed up than usual.

What a total embarrassment.

Funding, government, zika virus, crime, poverty, and now body parts and pollution.

And we thought Sochi was bad.

Mutilated body washed up on beach where the beach volleyball events will be held:

Black eye after black eye for the IOC over the last few Olympics. This is what happens when you allow countries to buy the Olympics.

Hard to believe the unreal scandal of the Russians so brazenly cheating the PED testing system the last time around didn't permanently damage the Games for more people. The Olympics have become a joke unfortunately.

Another example that people in powerful positions don't always know what they're doing.  What a freaking blunder by the Olympic committee

Definitely.  Mutilated bodies washing up.  Polluted water.  Ousted President.  This is awful stuff.

Why does the IOC allow 3rd world countries to host the Olympics? Everyone knows where they get the labor to build their new state of the art one time use billion dollar stadium. Like it's not even a good secret.

Depends. I'm sure their pockets were lined handsomely for their votes so it may have been deliberate and not a blunder

Maybe if this is a monumental disaster, FIFA will move the Qatar World Cup.

Nah, that money has been spent too.

The people have been rioting that billions have been funded to build stadiums that will never be used again instead of public works.

Whats the Brasilian translation for "thanks Obama"?

Today's news bit was that a German TV crew already here for the Olympics got their equipment robbed at gunpoint. (Police tracked it down already, but still.)

:lmao:
