The purpose for these polls is to attempt to roughly gauge the perceived values of the rookie players now, before the combine and before the NFL draft.  If time permits I will do polls post combine and post NFL draft as well.

I would assume an average size league for roster requirements of about 20 to 24 offensive players in a 12 team league. The polls are separated by standard scoring and PPR formats. For the 2QB poll assume either format. These polls are more focused on where QB value might be relative to other positions in leagues that have a higher demand for that position.

Debate is very welcome as we all want to know not only which players are specifically ranked ahead of others but also why. This also bumps the thread so that more people will see the poll and hopefully participate by voting.

I will try to stay on top of these and keep the polls moving. The more votes the better. Right now activity is low so 40 to 50 votes is the goal for establishing a winner although larger sample size would be preferred, there isn't that much time before combine results could cause some people to change their view, and a new set of polls started for that. Any votes after this time would obviously be influenced somewhat by the new information. I am trying to start this sooner so we can get a sense of how people value these players before the combine and NFL draft changes those points of view.

Please suggest other players you think should be included for later polls. I need some QB suggestions for the 2QB poll.

The quote function is messed up right now. I cannot seem to get rid of quote boxes at all.

Hankmoody,

There was an issue with a four way tie in the 2QB poll that was down to two players at the time that I made a decision between Thomas and Boyd. Initially I was going to give the tie to Thomas, who had just won the standard and PPR polls, however Boyd won 1.05 in the PPR poll so this is higher than Thomas and so I gave the tie to Boyd for having the highest demand between the two WR in the PPR poll.

Sorry for any confusion, both players are very close to the same value. If I let the poll accumulate 100 or so votes (which would take about 3 days or more at this pace) maybe it would lead to a more clear decision between these two. I gave the vote to Boyd just so we could move on.

New information about these players is already being reported so I am likely going to try to get to 1.12 before starting these over for post combine polls. Maybe if we started the polls right after the regular season it would be enough time to do these better. The Vikings made the playoffs so I had not shifted into off season mode until after they were eliminated.

Thanks for pointing out that I still had Thomas listed as winning the 2QB. I forgot to change that in the list.

beef,

I like Booker slightly more than Collins but I recognize a lot of people like Collins as the 2nd best RB of this class. I agree that he and Booker should have more demand than this poll currently reflects, especially in standard leagues.

Booker is old.

Well I did a study awhile back and RB who were 24 years or older as a rookie only represented 4% of the players who made this list. So it is pretty rare for a RB who is 24 years old to become a top 12 RB. The odds are against them compared to a 21 to 23 year old RB that represent the other 96% of the sample.

Notable 24 year old RBs are Priest Holmes, Dorsey Levens, Shonn Greene, Harvey Williams, Rashad Jennings, Andre Ellington.

Antwain Smith and Mike Anderson were the only RB from that study who were older than 24 years old entering the NFL.

None of this changes my perspective about Booker as a player and what he is capable of in the NFL. Ideally you would prefer your RB to enter the league at a younger age as most of them do.
