2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (4 Viewers)

100% with you. NBA is the one league referee calls can drastically change an outcome. 4 key guys with 3 fouls by halftime. The Phantom techs when Boston goes on a run. Kind of blatant
It deals a lot with momentum. A team goes on a a decent sized run and then the refs pile on. Very easy to see how a team can go down 15 when the players know they're getting screwed. They start playing emotional, lagging on defense, etc.

him and his brother are definitely from Philly. they have had a few things in their past. Been cleared, so who knows, but you get the feeling like they could be other athletes from Philadelphia where once the retire they get caught up in something and get in trouble.

Disclaimer, i don't know much about the Morris twins outside they are from South Philly area.
I know they were pissed off when they were traded from the Sun after the Suns promised any trade they'd keep them together. I forget which one was traded to Detroit but neither guy was happy and the Morris on Phx at the time basically said he wouldn't resign

  sorry bud, but you are off on this one. DId you see any of the other games in this series? Sure they didn't beat someone up to get those technicals, but they certainly could be called.

and i do worry that some of these responses are a result of the other 3 games, where they didn't call much on Boston and people think that is the norm. now when they call fouls people think it is some mystery.

That last play notwithstanding, impressed with the sixers lack of turnovers.  Keep it up nerds.
game isn't over yet, but if they win this would seem to be one of the main reasons why. Covington's one pass was horrendous, but outside of that there haven't been any real dumb turnovers by the Sixers

I'm counting Embiid's ridiculous 3 point airballs as turnovers

It also pains me to say this being a Phily guy but I think Sixers fans are incredible soft especially these days. You can't say anything negative to them or they flip out like you said something about their sister. The whole "Trust The Process" thing is the most annoying thing I've heard in sports in awhile. Just call it what it was a blatant tank job to the point the NBA had to step in for how bad it was becoming. And then the most Famous player today they worship as a god has a Rap sheet with the law that would make Micheal Irvin proud. Biggest bandwagon fan group in the city too. I work in a very public environment where I see the trends of sports liking daily.

Agreed.  Embiid's biggest on-court weakness is his high turnover rate.  Tonight it helps that McConnell is the one with the ball in his hands a bit.  Simmons is a great playmaker, but he'll turn the ball over some too.

Embiid can't be shooting 3's right there.

Sixers are like a squirrel in the middle of the road...all hepped up, not knowing which way to run but just scrambling with no plan.

When they're trying to ice these games....they need to be less Harlem Globetrotters and more like the robot team the Globetrotters played on Gilligans Island.

if they win this (and if they don't i expect either half the city to call out tomorrow or the city to burn), the next game will be interesting. Sixers haven't looked that fantastic, but the biggest diference is the turnovers and defense. Can they keep it up again? i think TJ plays this much again next game, and that dude does seem to spark the whole team with his tenacity and hustle.

I don't think I can handle all the "SIXERS NEED TO MOVE SIMMONS AND GIVE MCCONNELL A MAX DEAL" calls that will be permeating in to 94WIP tomorrow.

Whichever team pays Marcus Smart is going to go crazy. There are some nights he looks like he is on the verge of being one of the best 2 way guards in the game, and other nights he looks he should be at the end of the bench handing out gatorade.

would have won game 3 and likely game 2 if they could do that. Amazing they are still doing that tonight, that pass by SImmons should have him on the bench right now. Kid just wants a homerun all the time

i can't see how the Celtics can re-sign him. he is making 4.5 mil this year, and i would think he gets closer to 10 mil a year. the Celtics are in good shape with free agents though, only other one who they would want to re-sign is probably Baynes, and Larkin at the right price:

i'm hoping they bring in Bird to be a 3rd commentator next game, maybe add Robert Parish for court-side reporter. Maybe just put Ainge out there and have him be the only one to announce with McHale

Really funny that Nader misses those last two Free Throws. The O/U for the 2H was 106 and him missing both of those made the under hit. Somebody out there is pissed off right now.

:lmao:

He is such a unique player...his D and intensity are top of the line but his outside shooting doesn't seem like it is ever going to improve...he is a real asset to have but I just don't know what you pay him when he has those limitations on the offensive end...the C's are in great shape with Kyrie, Hayward, Tatum and Brown but it is going to be real interesting to see what they figure out with Rozier and Smart...

I've been saying before he was drafted he spends too much time worrying about trying to please the fans then take the easy play. Too much hotdogging for him. People didn't believe me before the draft but I guess that's what happens when most of the people who jump on someones bandwagon don't know if they didn't watch many games and saw only highlights until he was playing in the NBA. However it's no different then many young guys today. Trying to get in the top 10 plays rather then take whats given

Omg a guy playing in his 1st NBA season is making mistakes, especially during the playoffs.

Of course Simmons  is always going for the best play, until this year he was always head and shoulders better than everyone he played against and could get away with it. Now he has to learn that everyone is really really good and fast. It is no different than a young qb learning certain throw can be made in college and not in the NFL.

Good news is after he becomes a star and D.Jax goes to an alias we will know who he is with that writing.

Good game by the Sixers tonight
unfortunately, as a Sixers game, i don't know that this game will change anything. Certainly seems worth it for Brown to have TJ getting good minutes, but Simmons still looked sloppy at times and not himself outside of this series. And Joel had some bad decisions too. if they didn't change those for this game, i am not hopeful they will be fixed for the next one

He’s going to grow a lot from these playoffs

agreed, and all indications are that Ben is open to learning. Granted that bomb to TJ in the 4th was enough to tear my hair out, but no matter how this series go, the team should be better for it, especially Joel and Ben

They are young and learning and it is hard to predict what they will do. They could come out like gang busters next game or fall flat on their faces. They don't even know.

Of course it was none of us are 20 year olds playing in front of all those people. Right now his game is probably mostly instincts and his ability. Once his brain slows the game down he will be awesome.

i'm still holding out hope Ben comes out and shoots 5 3s to start the game. gotta think no one will cover him, and they can;t be worse then Joel's air balls.

and yeah, going into it we should have all known this. The amount of organized basketball games Joel has played in his life is still mind-boggling, and Simmons has done it before. Unfortunately they are playing what could be the best coach in the NBA, and i am sure he will have the Celtics ready even if Ben and Joel look on top of their games

I certainly hope the Celtics close it out at home next game but you never know what can happen. It wasn’t that long ago that the Flyers came back down 3-0 to beat the Bruins (####).
