Boston definitely earned that series. They outplayed and outcoached the Sixers. Goes to show you what playoff experience can do. Hopefully the young guys on the Sixers that will be around grow from this (Ben, Joel). They got a taste. Now they know what they have to do to go further.
ehh maybe. Let's see Baynes hit 7 3s again in his career. Stevens definitely shined though, i hate him because he coaches the Celtics, but he is going to be a pain in the ### no matter what players are on that team as long as he is there

Absolutely great series.  Found myself rooting for Philly tonight just so we could see a game 6.

The Sixers have nothing to be ashamed of...great effort.

Going into next season the Sixers have to 1) Commit to Fultz as a big minute starter or 2) Trade him in a package for the best veteran they can add.  Just my 2 cents.

Fultz for Tatum and in all probability the Kings lottery pick next year really has a chance to haunt the Sixers for years...

"Apparently the only way the 76ers can beat the Celtics is if the refs help."

Celtics win 3-1. Yeah, I guess ####### so.
i like you bud, but the only time there was complaining about the refs was the last 2 days after game 4. the refs were not outstanding but the Sixers lost that game on their own. putting a team in the bonus with 10 minutes to go is an anomaly, but Sixers youth and inexperience was probably the biggest reason they lost this game.

Just a lost year and his confidence is too shaky.  Had a few nice moments at the end of the year, but no way to trust him in the playoffs.  Gotta keep working this offseason and hopefully come back with a positive mindset next year.
What a difference a draft pick makes.   Tatum would've put you guys over the top especially considering how bad Covington was in the series.

Philly is going to be great.

Really looking forward to Cavs vs. Celtics to see what Stevens comes up with.  I wouldn't be surprised if they go with a whole "let Lebron go one on one and score as much as he wants, but he's going to work" kinda deal.

still think it is waayyyy too early to call this. let's revisit in 2-3 years. Without a doubt not having the Fultz from summer league was a huge difference in a lot of games, i think the Sixers win this in 4 or 5 if that Fultz would have had a year of experience under his belt.

but the potential is there for it to be pretty ugly. In my opinion though, i can't really blame anyone for it. I don't know how they could have predicted what happened between July and September with Fultz

And if Kyrie is there it is a 4 game sweep where the games are probably not close...

Not sure if anyone has mentioned how good Tatum is but that's an incredible series for a rookie.
to be honest, if Tatum went to another team, i don't think he has nearly the stats he had all year. Stevens should get just as much credit, maybe more, for how well Tatum has looked throughout the whole year.  Definitely in this series, he had him in a lot of spots to succeed

There's not a young player in the game that would fit on the 76ers better than Tatum.

You can (still) be the biggest Fultz fan in the world but he'll never better fit a Simmons-lead 76er team than Tatum.

maybe next year both teams can do it again nice and healthy.

you guys do have some interesting off-season questions, with Smart and Baynes (though i would think they can get an equivalent center)

My only complaint were those two phantom technical fouls that were called consecutively against the Celtics in Game 4.

There was nothing to warrant those and only served to hurt a Celtics team that was making a comeback. The Celtics were in the bonus at that point and the 76ers weren't so nothing really to complain about at that point.

Celtics pretty much gave up being down 12 after those fouls. Definitely terrible officiating there, imo. Should have been a sweep if not for home cooking.

PS: I like you too.

A starting lineup of Simmons, Reddick, Tatum, Saric and Embiid would be really tough.   With a guy like Simmons that needs the ball in his hand, unless Fultz learns how to shoot again, he's going to be a huge liability.  Teams will be able to play off of both him and Simmons and just pack the middle.

Turner, Crawford and Bradley I will give you as guys that Stevens made look much better than they are but Tatum is a budding star in this league regardless of what team he is on.

I think that Kings’ pick is going to look a little like this year’s Nets pick. Everyone drools all over it for years and it’s going to be like #10 in a mediocre draft.

Just Smart...they get Kyrie, Hayward and Theis (a key rotation player) back...Tatum, Rozier and Brown are a year older and they have the potential for 4 1st round picks in 2019 including a high lottery pick...they are in a great spot for the short and long term...

yeah you and @Boston would know better than me. i am still stuck on his pre-draft talk. will be fun to see how it works out. that trade definitely hurts, but i think if Fultz can play to what everyone thought he could be both Boston and Philly should be happy.

They could theoretically keep Smart if they wanted to pay the tax right?

Fultz is a rookie and not one of those "missed his rookie season" so his Sophomore season is his rookie season, rookies.

Give him another year before you rake him over the coals.

Not too bad. should get you to the conference finals where you will face:

C - Embiid

PF - Kawhi Leonard  (fultz, Covington and lakers pick should be more then enough)

SF - Lebron James

SG - Reddick

PG - Simmons

off the bench, you got Saric, and hopefully some other young guys who can develop

he is still 19 years old. just think what you were doing at 19, and then think of being asked to lead and be a key player in the NBA. can get crazy to think about

This offseason will be interesting for the Sixers...they really need to add a veteran star... they need to add some maturity to this team...obviously a Leonard or LeBron would be huge but they could also use a Horford type of stabilizing personality...Embiid and Simmons are mega-talents but it would do them a lot of good to have some high-end veterans to take over the leadership roles and help their games mature...will be interesting to see what happens with Reddick...that would be a tough loss...the kid can just flat-out shoot...that being said he is 33 and this will be his last chance at big $...

switch coaches & Fultz is MVP of a Sixer sweep and Tatum is scrambling for minutes behind Marcus Morris & a few trade-deadline Euros

Was clearly too much for Fultz to think about.  That much is clear considering he mind ####ed himself into forgetting how to shoot.  And yes, I may have s h I t myself too.  Just don’t think I’d forget how to shoot.

i feel confident Reddick will re-sign. for how much, i don't know, but it will be less. feel pretty confident in that.

and to be honest, Amir Johnson provided a lot of that veteran leadership. the thing is you can surround a bunch of kids with veterans, but the end of the day they are still kids

I think they mostly were just asking him to play a little bit each game and have a competent jump shot...

How typical Marcus Smart was the last 3.5 seconds of that game?  Get the ball, get fouled.  Try to make the first and miss.  Try to miss the 2nd and make.  Steal the inbounds pass in the corner by making a ridiculously athletic run from half court.  Ball game.

Dude will be Boston's worst and best player on back to back possessions.

yeah, i don't the Sixers caused it. and it will be a mystery for at least another year or 2. Even when he gets his shot back there will be that need to see it for a long time to know it is here to stay.

but the whole situation is one of the strangest i can think of in all of sports. We ever see a QB get drafted in the 1st round (and was a consensus top pick) and then forget how to throw?

seeig Ben's post conference is nice. he has known he needs a jumper since he entered the league, i have faith he will begin building it soon

I like Hayward, he a very good player, but he seems like a bad overpay with all the success going on right now. Not sure how everything is going to go down with him the next 3 years, but I could definitely see it getting ugly with Celtics fans if he performs sub-par for a $30M a year deal.

I said the same thing about Rondo and Smart...
the kid averaged close to a triple-double with a poor FT and literally no jumper. I think he is so much higher than either Smart or Rondo they aren't comparable. the plan the whole time (from Brown 2 years ago) was for Ben to master the PG position, then work on the shot. Similar to MJ, similar to Lebron. i understand there is no guarantee he gets a reliable shot, but even without ever fixing his shot his floor is Kidd or better

i would like to see it, but as long as Stevens is coaching there i can't see this happening. Amir would not be the player he is without Stevens, and i think as long as Hayward isn't a total headcase he will be good. but yeah, $30 mil/year can be a hell of an albatross.

Sixers fans are hard on Covington with his $10 mil/year contract. but there is enough talent on that team you guys will win even without him doing that well and winning makes everything a little easier to accept

Didn't compare them as players but as players who had bad outside shots...I thought both Rondo and Smart could figure it out but they didn't...if Philly is gonna seriously compete for a title he needs to get at least decent in that area...

well, i wish you would have told Smart that before this series. games 1-3 he seemed to be hitting at a rate higher than i thought he could.

I see the exact opposite...I think he is going to thrive with the C's...he was the guy I wanted them to target...he played for Stevens at Butler and I think he helps take this team to another level next year...

Embiid missing that lay-up at the end of this game will haunt him all summer. I know a lot don't like his brash attitude, but the guy seems to be a legit competitive guy and is hard on himself.

Also funny seeing Stevens congratulate TJ after the game. You could see Stevens practically drooling and staring at McConnell with dreamy eyes just imagining how he could utilize him
