2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (3 Viewers)

IMO not wining your conference should keep you out too. But the committee screwed that up last year they should of taken Penn State, however they kept it in conference by taking OSU who I don't think clearly belonged last year
Yes that was a really bad move by them.  Question is will they treat this year as its own or take last year's mistake into consideration?

Anybody concerned with this angle....

Last year they put OSU without winning the conference. And if this year they put them in over bama and give the reason as the conference championship, that it seems they are bias towards OSU?

As a disclosure I'm an ND fan so don't really care, but just curious if the committee put themselves in a corner last year and by chance it involves the same team this year.
Last year was very disconcerting as year one they stressed the conference title in jumping them 3 spots over the big 12 schools.  They were bailed out by them winning but they didn’t Boeing then imo so I have no sympathy for them if they get bounced here but it sure does seem like they like to start with them in and retrofit a rationale

Hope you didn't miss yesterday's free money Clemson -9. Ridiculous line.
There was some weird line movement. As someone mentioned in here, Auburn went from -2 to +1.5, and Clemson also jumped to -11 just before kickoff.

I think the thing that irks me the most about college rankings is that it really matters when you lose.  Lose early, no big deal.  Lose late and your boned.

He’s an instant channel change for me. I can’t believe people put any value in his homer opinions.
Yeah, mentioning his name in here as some sort of Oracle whose opinion matters makes me stabby.  What does Colin Cowherd say on the matter?  What's Ferrell on the Bench think?  What's Jim Rome's hot take?  Lunacy that Finebaum is treated with any sort of import or reverence.

Well, OSU does have the highest winning percentage in the college football playoff. So there is that.

ETA: Correction. Clemson is at .750 (3-1), and OSU is second at .667 (2-1).

UGA lost 3 weeks ago and is probably the 2 seed.  I don’t think that matters anymore.

1. Clemson

2. OU

3. Georgia

4. Ohio State
This just because I'm a conference championship should mean something guy and I guess the rules require 4 teams.Although after watching OSU play Michigan and Wisconsin, I think no one deserves the 4th spot and Clemson should just get a bye.

I could live another 3 lifetimes and never understand why Paul Finebaum should matter as a mouthpiece at all.  Was he a coach or former player?  Why doesn't everybody have their own local disc jokey lobbying for them on a national stage?  I don't get it.
Imagine growing up wondering this and seeing the guy blow up on a national level because some yahoo poisoned a bunch of trees.

For the record, I think Alabama would be in if Georgia were in another conference, but the committee will pick OSU. Hope I'm just being pessimistic.

I get FSU was a 6-6 team, but I'd bet there would be a lot of teams in the top 10 carrying an extra L if they played FSU week one. That's my only annoyance with the quality win argument against Bama.

As much as I think the conference stuff is way overrated, the best way to expand the playoff but keep the regular season meaningful is to go to only 6 teams.

Eight teams would likely include undeserving teams who could hit multiple bumps and yet sneak in.

I’d be fine if we went to six teams with each P5 champ automatically in and the committee is there to pick only the at-large 6th team and to decide seeding. In my scenario, top two teams get a bye. I think I’d also play the 3-6, 4-5 games next weekend so all teams get a few weeks off before the final four playoff games.
I said this months ago.

That Wisconsin game wasn't that close, OSU kept them in it with terrible turn overs.

They aren't going to do it because it would be unfair to Clemson, but I'd love to see the committee put OU and OSU together so OU could smoke them even worse than last time.

Heather Dinich (say what you want about her, but I’m pretty sure she’s tight with Kirby Hocutt) is projecting Miami and Bama in the Orange.
Heather Dinich✔@CFBHeather

My official prediction: 1. Clemson 2. Oklahoma 3. Georgia 4. Alabama.

yep - if the goal is the get the 4 BEST teams, it has to be that,  last year showed that conf championships aren't required, so USC and OSU are out due to embarrassing losses

Last I looked, terrible turnovers are part of the game. Anyone who thinks OSU looked good last night on offense (the D-line was incredible) is fooling themselves.
I am not a TJ Barrett fan, that haskins kid that played vs Michigan is a legit pocket passer. Wisconsin was a top rated D. and OSU hit some big pass plays and also missed plenty of them.

I think Wisconsin was exposed on both sides of the ball last night. That D is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I think it will be hard to talk these teams fans to travel to pasedena. New orleans isnt an awful drive for any of these teams really.

Have you met buckeye fans????

We look for any reason to get the hell out of Ohio in the winter.  Stadium will be 70%+ for us and tix will be gone in minutes.

Don't knock out our QB next time.

I think I said it here, but at least around halfway through the season, I was saying that's the one play I'd like to have back this season. Considering Auburn won how they did, one play wasn't saving that loss, so I still feel that way.

Alabama is the only team outside of the sure top 3 with a real shot to win this thing. If we are being honest, we all know the Buckeyes are more likely to get run out of the stadium again. They could beat Bama. Don't get me wrong. They couldn't beat OU on their own field, and OU is better now. Clemson is going to punish them again, I'm guessing.

Almost time!  Nervous as hell.

edit to add. I don't give a ####!   Come on expanded PLAYOFFS!  More college football is a win/win.

:lmao:

USC not even top 6.  Better SOS and more top 40 wins than Bama and Ohio St.  This thing is a clown show until all 5 conference champions are in a tournament.

Changing this to:

Sugar: Clemson v Alabama

Rose: Georgia (2) v Oklahoma

Peach: UCF v Auburn

Fiesta: USC v Penn State

Orange: Miami v Wisconsin

Cotton: Ohio State v Washington

placing 3 BIG teams outside of the playoff is going to be tough.
Bump

espn let me get some of that money
