2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (2 Viewers)

You are right about the 2 way tie.

If they lose to Sparty, you'd have a 3-way tie and most conferences' tie-breaker is highest ranking.

Edit - never mind, the B1G is convoluted according to Wikipedia. Looks like if tOSU, PSU, and Sparty all finish with 1 conference loss, Nittany Lions would go because they have best winning pct.
If they lose to Sparty, PSU will have 2 losses, so there can't be a 3-way tie with 1 loss each. And if they beat Sparty, MSU will have 2 losses.

Committee has set ND up so that if they win out and UGA's only loss is to Bama, ND could leapfrog into 2nd and finish ahead of a team they lost to(at South Bend).

Penn State's only way in IMO is for Ohio State to stumble in the regular season, get Penn State into B1G championship game and beat Wisconsin.
Yea, PSU is most likely not getting in, which is the suck IMO.

If I was to project right now, I'd have to think Bama is in a class by themselves, so they beat UGA:

Bama

OSU

ND

Clemson/Georgia

Man do I really hope ND loses, but I still don't think that'll do the trick for PSU though :kicksrock:

I actually made a gentleman's bet with a coworker, loser buys expensive lunch at a fancy NYC restaurant.

I took Bama, he took the field.

Really good season to date so far though, wish I had more time to enjoy it... I've watched 10x NCAAF compared to the NFL this year.

I don't necessarily think PSU should/will get in or is one of the 4 best but I'm not sure why people are convinced they can't get in over OSU - the exactly opposite scenario happened just last year.  If OSU loses again but wins the Big 10 then PSU could go ahead of them if several other things happen.

I'd happily sign up for an OSU/PSU rematch.

Not having them in top 4 can be argued, but if you have them outside the top 6, maybe 7, I wouldn't even be interested in the conversation. I'm curious how they respond against Sparty.

To be clear, I'm not arguing they are definitely top 4 it just seems way premature to write them off with so many games left.  And put me on record for not wanting two teams from the same conference but I know I'm in the minority.

Say UGA and Bama meet and play a tight game decided by < 7 points... Would you change your opinion on that?

Also, I'd like to go on the record and say I think Sam Darnold is the most overrated player in the NCAA... Based on conversations I've had elsewhere, certainly feels like I'm in the minority with that one, but whatever.

PSU was lucky to beat Iowa and Iowa is not very good.  I think PSU has another loss coming.

It'll be way past most of your bedtimes, but if you can, tune into ESPN late late Saturday to see Arizona/USC.  Not because I think it'll be a great game, but it'll be the first chance the nation gets to see arguably the most exciting underclassman in the country in Khalil Tate, aka "The Kid Who Saved RichRod's Job".

Man, imagine how good LSU would be if they could find a kid like this to play QB.  :P

Not an underclassman, but I've been up past bedtime trying to catch some Bryce Love action.

Georgia loses this weekend then beats an undefeated Bama for a scenario.....A man can dream

They'd both get in... No chance a one loss Bama team doesn't get in, zero.

You're probably speaking with people who haven't seen Darnold play since the Rose Bowl.

I've not seen Tate play yet, but just looking at his stats, seems like RichRod found another Denard.

These weekly college rankings feel like a Skip embrace debate act mixed with ESPN big board prospect shuffles.  No thanks to the moving goal post rationals and constant over-reacting.

I can see two teams from the same conference if say one team is left out of the conference championship game because of an early season loss to the team that got in.

But I really don't want to see two teams that just played each other in their conference's championship game get in to a 4 team playoff. I'd like that game be treated like an extension of the playoff. If you lose it, you're out.

I might be able to agree with this when phrased like that.

I thought about taking the OVER total points in the USC/Zona game....just checked my book.  It's 74.  :lmao:

Think I'll pass.  Seventy freaking four!!!!

Course I'm looking a little more and see UCF/SMU is 75.5 and Memphis/Tulsa 78.5.  My god. :lmao:

Books are BEGGING you to take the under.

So if they're both undefeated, the teams that lost earlier in the year don't have to count their loss as an extension of the playoff?

They look at the whole picture, not just the week before.

I know that's how they do it. You quoted my opinion of what I'd like to see. To answer your question, yes I don't think regular season games should be an extension of the playoffs. A conference championship game? Yes.

I don't think winning a conference championship game should be an automatic ticket in to the playoff. But I think losing one should be an automatic ticket out of the playoffs.

Right, "it's better to lose early than late" has always been a factor in CFB. As it should with the way it's set-up.

I guess I see that, but to me all games count the same, until the playoffs of course.

i dont know who it will be and it wont make any sense but i feel like georgia is gonna lose before they play bama.  and of course they will lose to bama.  only one team from sec is getting in

They're not losing to GT or UK and they're unlikely to lose at home vs Auburn. This week at Cocky when they might be a little full of themselves coming off the Cocktail Party is probably the best bet.

Personally I don't think they do lose before Atlanta and don't think it's an "of course" that Bama beats them there.

I will call my shot.

Ga losses to Auburn and Alabama in the sec championship
