2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Looking like Ohio State was ready to take over control -A dropped TD pass and a bad 4th and 2 has now given the Hoosiers a confidence boost.

 
Any win week 1 is a good one. NFL coaches don't know how their paid pros will come out, imagine how a college coach feels about his knuckleheads.

Throwing up 4 TDs late against a much, much less talented team doesn't impress me, no.  If they played like that against a top 25 team, they get run. 

A win is a win, but there's nothing to brag about.

That is true.  You only get to play 30 minutes in college football games.  You make a very good point.

 
What time did that game finally end? I turned it off just after 11 ET when it went up to 35-21 and there were still a couple minutes left in the 3rd.

Come on, you know IU doesn't have the horses to hang with Ohio St. How many players on the home sideline did Urban recruit?  2? 3?  You won because you have football depth while they have roster filler depth. A win is a win, but if you don't think there are serious issues at play, you're watching with blinders. The secondary was bad.  Barrett wasn't good either - his TD passes weren't until the defense was gassed and the WRs took 5 yard gains and housed them.

I get it, it was far from a great performance.  At the same time, I hear these Buckeye fans whining about how terrible it was, but it was not.  D Line was impressive to say the least.  The corners were not amazing, but a lot of those catches were ridiculous.  Like one hand over the shoulder stuff.  No one is stopping those.  First half, these inexperienced corners were left in man-to-man with them.  It was not common for IU WRs to be running free and open.  They rarely missed a tackle.  JT was tentative to begin but really gained momentum as the game went on.  He got brutalized by some drops.  That said, IU has a much better defense than is given credit to them and they have the majority of their starters from 2016.

Hey, I get it.  I am a homer and I will wear that badge with pride.  At the same time, I see a lot of improvement and hope for the season.  I love college football as do about all of us on this board and live for the teams we grew up with this season.  If I come across as blind, that is fine.  I will call myself an optimist about this season. :)

I hate OSU more than anyone. But....

Their D Line/Front 7 was impressive.

That freshman RB was impressive

O Line and DB's seemed fine

Barret IV still cant pass. WR's aren't good.

Feels like another Big Ten Championship and beat down against an SEC school in the playoff.

I'm still baffled by Barrett's inability to progress as a passer (especially deep).

not really because of all the other terrible throws.  no question the WRs didn't help him, but that was the ONE ball that was on the money deep out of all the attempts.  That illustrates the point nicely.

Front 7 was very good and Dobbins was amazing. He's a future star. 

 
Sitting with Indiana +21 felt pretty good at the half.  So good in fact that I didn't even bother with the 2nd half.  It wasn't until I kissed my wife goodnight and looked at the final score before checking out that I felt the urge to vomit.  Gambling on college football......it's FANNNNNNNNNNNNNTASTIC!

 
Beating a conference foe on the road by 28 after starting slow in week 1 is definitely a sign of doom and gloom.

Clemson won at Auburn 19-13 and vs Troy 30-24 to start 2016.

Clemson wasn't good early last year. Who said they were?  Those two games plus NCstate were all unimpressive. Clemson didn't hit their first stride until Louisville and that lasted through FSU. They phoned it in against Pitt and then turned it on to finish the year.
