2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (2 Viewers)

I will say this. If bama gets in I don't think they get far.  They kinda don't deserve to be in top 4.  No they really don't deserve to be

Dave Wannstedt, of all people (and I’m already dreading the reaction to bringing up his name), made a good point tonight. If they keep the Big Ten out, how much longer until the press for a playoff expansion happens. You can’t imagine the PAC 12 is happy with them essentially being void of attention since it’s inception (rightfully so) but I know a lot in this thread don’t favor expansion either. Just an interesting subplot.

Pac 12 is a joke

I said this earlier in the week in the OSU thread. If you want a 6 or 8 team playoff, piss Delaney off.

SVP is interviewing Urban Meyer right now and he accidentally called him Nick (Saban).

I didn't want Bama to get in but now I'm fine with it because I will enjoy Clemson taking them to task.

No idea if it'll be Bama or OSU, but I wonder how much it'll hurt OSU that WISC just looked so terrible last night. Sure, beating a 12 win team is going to help, but this about as uninspiring as a 12 win team can be. Then letting that terrible WISC team get within a FG in the 4th just won't sit well either.

I think OSU probably gets in and maybe should, simply because it's just hard to say how good Bama really is.

But last night's game wasn't really the slam dunk OSU needed with both team's looking either crappy or very average. Bama clearly won the "eyeball test" battle last night without even playing.

Not hard to imagine committee members thinking that, if Alabama were in Indianapolis last night, they'd have beaten the Hornibrook led Badgers by 30.

Even as a bama fan I'll agree. I want them in and want the revenge game vs Clemson. But they didn't really earn it. Auburn losing to Georgia hurts. If Auburn had shown to be the hottest team in football that loss in Auburn doesn't look all that bad.

tOSU didn't earn it either.

If I were to decide I'd put UCF as the 4th but that's not going to happen.

It's almost like Clemson gets a bye. Okay, no it's not, because they could lose, but there's a clear top 3 and then a big gap.

Yep. Best path to 8 is to keep those two conferences out this year.

Man, this really would be the perfect opportunity for the committee to say, "you know what, the BIG and SEC aren't all that good this year, which is why it's so difficult to find real statement wins on anybody's schedule. screw it all, bring on the Knights"

As an added bonus, Scott Frost seems like a good dude and this will almost certainly be the closest he ever gets to getting into the BCS Playoffs.

I disagree with the bolded although we won't know for a while. Nebraska at least has a clear path to the playoffs.

You are absolutely right. That BIG-West should be a cakewalk for any decent coach, and there's no better place to be for an easy route to a P5 Conference Title game every year. It's hard to see Nebraska ever being Nebraska again, but luckily, they don't have to be.

It's way better than Eastern Michigan or Eastern Washington
:bag: I had forgotten my Alma mater lost their #### and went grey.

I actually like the blue and red, wouldn't want it on every field but for a couple I like the uniqueness. But grey just looks horrible on TV. But then it's not like the Hurons / eagles are on national TV.

Right, they just need to be a little better than Wisconsin.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said he hopes the College Football Playoff selection committee weighs the entire body of work of a team, both good and bad. "Let's say we had lost by 30 points to Texas A&M, do you think we would even be considered?" Saban told ESPN.  ouch

Changing this to:

Sugar: Clemson v Alabama

Rose: Georgia (2) v Oklahoma

Peach: UCF v Auburn

Fiesta: USC v Penn State

Orange: Miami v Wisconsin

Cotton: Ohio State v Washington

placing 3 BIG teams outside of the playoff is going to be tough.
Cappy knows things. I trust his instincts.

1. Clemson

2. Oklahoma

3. Georgia

4.  Ohio State

Sugar:  Clemson vs. Ohio State

Rose:  Georgia vs Oklahoma

5.  Alabama  lack of a conference championship will hold them back

6.  USC

I agree with the media people who say that there isn't enough otherwise different between OSU and Alabama to make up for the conference championship.

Edit: didn't see Shizz's post

Think ratings and money.  Clemson vs Alabama >>>>> Clemson vs Ohio State due to last year.  THIS will be the committee's deciding factor.

<<<< tOSU fan -- Go Bucks!

As a Buckeye fan, I really don't think they should get in over Bama nor do I want to see them against Clemson again. I will take a good win over a good team in another bowl while telling Barrett adios.

Bama didn't lose by 30 to a 4 win team
I am no fan of either of either school, but while the loss to Iowa was ugly, Ohio St has much more impressive wins against top teams this year than Alabama, which really cannot be debated, Plus, they won their conference, while Alabama wasn't even good enough to be one of the top 2 in theirs, which should matter.

Forget resumes.  Bama should be out because saban whined last year that conference championships should count more and mean something.  He didn’t even win his division

Saban with a month to prep scares me way more than anything JT Barrett can do and I think that’s probably a universally held belief. Does that mean Bama deserves the spot?  Not sure.

Thr Buckeyes should get spot 4, I fear for Urban’s heart health.

I love Booger McFarland's just think about it simply argument.

Alabama only has 1 loss vs. 2 for OSU.

Oh, so UCF has 0 losses, so they should be the 4th team in?

I hope they do put Alabama in because based on their rushing defense the last few games Clemson will roll them.

If they put OSU in the same thing probably happens anyway.

As a Clemson fan, I'd rather play OSU than a rested and healthy Alabama team.  I'd also rather play UGA and OKL.  Just don't think OSU is that good, and UGA would be a little uptight on the big stage with the first year head coach.  Same with Oklahoma to a degree.

How about beat someone that is good?

Alabama's best win is 3 loss LSU, then Mississippi State.

They had good intentions scheduling FSU to start they year but yeah 6-6 oops.

  I wouldn't want to bet either way on who it is. I just think when they are done looking at everything, most people know Bama is the better team so we are going we to be subjected to 15 minutes worth of "eye test" talk and "Bama has 7 wins over teams that went .500" <-- look for a lot of this one from the committee chair if they do get the spot. OSU has 5 such wins. Fsu actually did Bama a favor yesterday getting to .500 (I know how stupid that is but they factor it)

How they spin off the two wins for OSU against top-10 teams?  They'll probably focus on that Iowa loss.

I wish they would put in UCF.  That'd be great.

Alabama should have their injured defenders back by the playoff semis and their rush defense will be stronger.
