So you're not a fan of the SEC? or Ohio State of course.Bunch of inbred hillbillies, what’s not to hate? What do they hate about Georgia?

Your wife didn’t!we'll end up going bigger, which I would hate.
No. My team sucks (GT)So you're not a fan of the SEC? or Ohio State of course.
If we aren’t going to 8 I’d rather stay with 4 - it makes the 2 or 3 argument almost as bad as 4 or 5.Eight is too many. Six is the sweet spot.
I vaguely remember them having a good year or two at some point in the last 40 years.No. My team sucks (GT)
You mistyped- it’s the Crisco Bowl.WTF is a Frisco Bowl?
Pretty sure those are both bowls. You mistyped- it’s the Crisco Bowl.WTF is a Frisco Bowl?
We’ve had a National Championship since UGA - that’s about the extent of our bragging rights. We have been to a lot of bowl games the last 20-25 years, just mostly ####ty ones.I vaguely remember them having a good year or two at some point in the last 40 years.
One’s a little oilier than the other.Pretty sure those are both bowls.
so, no? Doesn't matter....I tried to delete it before we went down the rabbit hole....guess I was too slowThis is really odd, even for you. They're ranked 6th now.
If you are asking if I know that teams can be overrated, yes I know that. Michigan is notorious for being overrated.
That said, I think Wisconsin is better than any team Alabama beat.
Pretty sure you could find a random word and it's a bowl.Pretty sure those are both bowls.
We should just have conference champions. Take all Div 1 champs and let the playoffs begin. If you need to get rid of some non-conf games, so be it. If you need to keep the committee they can seed the playoffs. Independents can find a league or the best independent gets a slotThis should be five conference champions: Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Ohio State, and USC. Then three at-large teams: Alabama, Wisconsin, and Auburn according to the rankings. Put UCF in for Wisconsin/Auburn if you want this isn't a G5 post.
1. Clemson vs 8. Southern Calif.
4. Alabama vs 5 Ohio State
3 Georgia vs 6 Wisconsin
2 Oklahoma vs 7 Auburn
Who doesn't want to see these games? Everyone (in P5 conferences) has a chance to play their way in. The whining would just be about seeding but Penn State, Miami, Washington, TCU, and Notre Dame have zero argument to get in over these teams.
that dude was a beast!Roquan Smith won the Butkus Award today as the nations top LB. Well deserved. Will be a great matchup vs Mayfield in Pasadena.
As far as I know OU and UGA have never played each other
Bama never schedules an OOC game away that isn't a neutral site. Schedule some home and homes and then they can be in the discussion. What?
Auburn and Georgia played Clemson and ND out of conference. Bama scheduled FSU who obviously flopped but was supposed to be a playoff quality team.
I still don't get why people promote 8 games. 16 is the right number. As discussed before, like basketball, it's not about finding the best team. You can't find the best team with a limited schedule. In fact, no sport's playoff system is about finding the best team. It's about finding the winner of the tournament. Ey.liminate the Mercers. Play the first round this weekend and the next round next weekend. Take the next few weeks off and play the semis around new years and the finals a week later. Pretty effing easy.Eight is too many. Six is the sweet spot.
In the Saban era Bama has played exactly 2 true road games OOC. Duke in 2010 & Penn. St. in 2011.Bama never schedules an OOC game away that isn't a neutral site. Schedule some home and homes and then they can be in the discussion.
It's not just the Gasparilla BowlPretty sure you could find a random word and it's a bowl.
gasparilla
camelia
Yep, checks out.
They did a HAH with Penn State in 2010 & 2011.Bama never schedules an OOC game away that isn't a neutral site. Schedule some home and homes and then they can be in the discussion.
That Penn State game was a home/away 2010/2011 series scheduled in 2005 before Saban arrived at Alabama for the 2007 season. In the Saban era Bama has played exactly 2 true road games OOC. Duke in 2010 & Penn. St. in 2011.
As a comparison, OU has gone to Ohio State, Tennesse, Tulsa, Notre Dame, UTEP, Florida State, Cincinnati, Miami, and Washington in that time.In the Saban era Bama has played exactly 2 true road games OOC. Duke in 2010 & Penn. St. in 2011.
No doubt both were scheduled without his involvement. That Penn State game was a home/away 2010/2011 series scheduled in 2005 before Saban arrived at Alabama for the 2007 season.
It’s cyclical as Saban has helped build the big Labor Day and it’s a massive success. Penn State was the last OOC home and home a few years ago, but it’s been tough to work out home and homes and neutral site games in ATL and Dallas help recruiting.Bama never schedules an OOC game away that isn't a neutral site. Schedule some home and homes and then they can be in the discussion.
yeah why bother playing the games, just let the committee pick who they want....Bama basically lost a playoff game to Auburn....matters not. Clemson will smash them anywayCapella said:Auburn would've been way better off not even playing it. Womp womp
Exactly!Lots of people.
Neutral site games in Arlington blow. The only neutral site that is fun is texas ou and that is because of the fair and all that.Who cares about "true away" games? Sure playing in the opponent's house can be more challenging but I've generally liked neutral site OOC games. If you can play a team expected to be good in Orlando, Atlanta, Arlington TX, or others, why not?
More teams should do them.
No coach would play away if they didn't have to. Difference here is Saban, and the tide, actually have the ability to make their ooc schedule work as they want.Exactly!
Saban wouldn't play SEC road games if he didn't have to.
There was talk of moving it to Jerry's World a few years ago but they signed a contract with the Cotton Bowl through 2025. If they can't keep it there, I'd rather it be home and home.Neutral site games in Arlington blow. The only neutral site that is fun is texas ou and that is because of the fair and all that.
Oh, we know. We know.No coach would play away if they didn't have to. Difference here is Saban, and the tide, actually have the ability to make their ooc schedule work as they want.
We can disagree, it's cool.Neutral site games in Arlington blow. The only neutral site that is fun is texas ou and that is because of the fair and all that.
He’s actually pushing for a 9-game conference schedule...UGA and UF are the big obstacles.Saban wouldn't play SEC road games if he didn't have to.
Ok. So is the complaining just jealousy? That's fine, understandable even.Oh, we know. We know.
Ok. So is the complaining just jealousy? That's fine, understandable even.
As several of us have stated, we like true road games. One of the best games I've been to was OU @ ND a few years ago. Baker never would have planted the flag if OU and OSU decided to play at a neutral site. OU is resurrecting its rivalry with Nebraska with a home and home series in a few years. OU has home and homes with UCLA, Tennessee & Michigan scheduled. Wouldn't have it any other way.Exactly. I've been to Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa, Indiana, and Purdue to see Ohio State play. Also been to seven neutral site games. All the away games were better experiences than all the neutral site games. The energy level of a home team's crowd doesn't compare to a neutral site crowd. It's easy to see why Saban avoids those environments. It's harder to win there. As several of us have stated, we like true road games. One of the best games I've been to was OU @ ND a few years ago. Pretty sure Saban cancelled a home and home he had already scheduled with Michigan State. It’s cyclical as Saban has helped build the big Labor Day and it’s a massive success. Penn State was the last OOC home and home a few years ago, but it’s been tough to work out home and homes and neutral site games in ATL and Dallas help recruiting.
Fans would love to get back to the 2000’s playing at UCLA and Oklahoma though...the neutral site games are getting less interesting...it’ll revert back soon I’d guess.
Yep. From: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/alabama-cancels-series-with-michigan-state/Pretty sure Saban cancelled a home and home he had already scheduled with Michigan State.
"Alabama requested to cancel the series due to uncertainty with the SEC schedule," Hollis told the paper via text. "While disappointed, in the spirit of collegiality, we agreed to the request."
The series had been scheduled for Tuscaloosa in 2016 and East Lansing in 2017.
The uncertainty with Alabama's SEC schedule is likely related to wondering whether the SEC will have moved to a nine-game conference schedule by then, leaving only three non-conference dates available. The truth is, when it comes to Alabama, the Tide don't really need to worry about strength of schedule in the playoff era when it comes to the selection committee. It's Alabama.
You're right...which was because neutral site games are better for $ and recruiting, especially with the replacements of FSU and USC. I think it'll make sense to go back to H-and-H soon.Pretty sure Saban cancelled a home and home he had already scheduled with Michigan State.
Dude...Meyer just started playing big OOC games for the first time in his career and OSU has a stronger SOS than Bama for the first time since the 90's.
They'll still finish top-10 at worst in recruiting this year.Lost in all this is that 7 FSU commits have decommited since Jimbo left.![]()
Did you know UNLV beat one of Alabama's signature wins on the road? Are you by chance a fan of Ohio State (Army, UNLV) or Penn State (Akron, Georgia State)?
No, but it's not really important to me.Did you know UNLV beat one of Alabama's signature wins on the road?
ok, seemed like it was when you tried to defend Mercer and the like. No, but it's not really important to me.
I don't care what Meyer did while he coached in the SEC.Dude...Meyer just started playing big OOC games for the first time in his career and OSU has a stronger SOS than Bama for the first time since the 90's.
