2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (2 Viewers)

A tough pill to swallow. Thought UGA had it after the big sack on first down but that was a hell of a throw. Big congrats to the Bama fans.
Sorry buddy...but you’ve got a stud coach in his early 40s at his Alma mater in a state that produces elite talent with no in-state rival (sorry. @AAABatteries) and hot women and lots of cash...bright future!

I wouldn’t stress it too hard. Ton of talent in the pipeline, they’ll get one sooner than later.

Your Dawgs will be on that stage for many years.  As much of a thrilling win it is for our side, I know it's an equal gut kick on yours.  Classy response and see you next year.

Agree - tough one for Native and UGA fans but their future is very bright.  Maybe Saban retires and Kirby owns the SEC the next few years.

If you look at the text messages I got from my brother (the UGA student)...

12:07 I LOVE GOGGLES!!!

12:08 GODRIGO!!!

12:10 im going to bed.

I've been openly hoping for Tua and have seen him look special vs Col State, but who in hell would expect that  It's potentially Mayfield behind the best D in the country plus the multiple 5-star receivers. I will enjoy that forever...but I'm also confused and giddy.  There may be a little hype going into next year.

From what I can see off of my friends timeline feed, Hawaii is poised to produce some talented qb’s for the foreseeable future. Mariotta was the spark but Tua is going to be even better. My buddy’s kid is only 10 or 11 but all the camps have all of the qbs working together, super cool to see his son with an nfl and college qb working reps.

Tua’s little brother moved to Alabama and was the State HS POY as a Junior.  Smaller and only a 3-Star for now.

Omg. The hype going into next year is going to be crazy

In all seriousness, this was devastating for many of my friends and my Dad.  After what happened with the Falcons I can’t imagine how they feel this morning.  I’m not sure you can find 2 loses like that within a year of each other - considering how they lost and that both were for titles.

Yea. Brutal. Really really brutal.

I always kinda scoffed when people said sports in Atlanta is cursed, but mayyyyybe?  I actually still put game 7 against The Twins as more painful than the Super Bowl. I was only 10 at the time, but it wrecked me.  The Super Bowl took so long to unfold, I had accepted it well before regulation ended and I just sat there staring throughout OT.

I don’t ever remember feeling as bad about the Braves losses as I did the Super Bowl.  I’m almost embarrassed how devastated I was.

GT losing to UConn hurt but they #####ed slapped us so not exactly the same and Tech wasn’t supposed to be there.

Decent amount of #####ing about the refs this morning - offside call, no facemask, apparently some play where Fromm was shoved.  Hearing some complaining about coaching too.  Not one person has brought up the safety being out of position on the game-winning TD.

Alabama didn’t lead at any point until the final play.

Offside on the block punt?

As a UConn fan, I can say that was a true wipeout. I think you'd won up in the preseason NIT that year against us, but the final game was different. The final score didn't even reflect the devastation of that game. Ben Gordon laughed at GT in the final presser. Duke was the tougher game and a miracle win for us that year, IIRC.

Yep - wasn’t close.  The absolute worst part of that game was it made people believe in Paul Hewitt.  Dude never even had a conference winning record but he milked that game for millions and way too many years.

Was Okafor out in the November game?

That was a fun tourney run but yeah I never believed we had a chance in the championship game.

Might have been his back. Your memory actually jogs mine. I remember he had a back issue his last year, so maybe.

I just looked it up on ESPN. He was playing, but probably not at full strength. I think -- think -- I remember that game and your three guard attack, IIRC. That was a frustrating loss.

Not more so than getting beat by George Mason in the round of eight in 2005-6, though. That sucked.

And UConn will never be the same after Calhoun and the dissolution of the true Big East. Shame. You guys at least have the ACC.

The only sporting event where I remember where I actually felt like crying.  That was a brutal pill to swallow.  Maybe the greatest pitching duel ever in the series.  Felt so bad for Smoltz, who was fantastic that night.  I was in my mid 20s.
