one of the first good values of free agency.VanVleet re-signs with Raptors for 2/18. Reasonable to me.

Also Amir Johnson. At least the Lakers are looking at JaVale McGee
Bron developed a jumper didn't he? Too early to say with Simmons right now that he can't ever do that. Either way Embiid should be the main option in the post where he's proven the ability to dominate, and the offense hasn't done a good job feeding him there. I'll take a prime Embiid consistently getting fed in the paint over an aged LeBron. But that has to do more with coaching.Lebron at 35 is almost certainly one of the 5 best players in the league. Ben Simmons literally cannot shoot, how will he ever be an option over him?
I think some useful vets will be willing to take the minimum to follow LeBron. So if Philly signs Bron, that means no room for Reddick right? Losing Reddick, Belinelli and Irsan is a lot of outside shooting gone.
why Boston? I know that Baynes signing is HUUUGGEE, but really? 2 teams with no cap room are his only optionsIf Bron seriously wants to win titles at this point, and wants to have a real chance against GS, I think the only options he has left are Houston and Boston.
Didn't see useful vets taking the minimum in Cleveland. Korver, Green and Hill sure weren't playing for the min.I think some useful vets will be willing to take the minimum to follow LeBron.
LeBron at 18 had a much better jumper than Simmons at 21. He may turn into a guy that you can't abandon at the 3 point line but it is unlikely he ever turns into even an average jump shooter.Bron developed a jumper didn't he? Too early to say with Simmons right now that he can't ever do that. @modogg it might be happening.
If he doesn't end up on the Lakers, I'd love to see LeBron on the Sixers. Because screw the Celtics.
who knows, and i am already not liking Lebron for stealing 2 weeks of my life to watch his plane land in LA. Sure i'll be over that by summer league though when Zaire Smith dunks from half courtEXACTLY!! He probably can dictate the trade and if it cant get done he moves on to Cleveland or another. If I'm philly, I would be ready to trade Simmons for Kawhi as part of the pitch to Lebron.
Philly will get killed by GS in the Finals as long as KD is there. That's just a fact. Sorry.why Boston? I know that Baynes signing is HUUUGGEE, but really? 2 teams with no cap room are his only options
LOL first post... Lakers fans going to burn George jerseys. First fan base to burn a jersey of a player who never played for them.
This idea that Belinelli and Ersan were great shooters is a little overblown, they can find guys that are comparable and maybe even pay a little defense (though i will go to my deathbed loving Ersan's ability to draw a charge)So if Philly signs Bron, that means no room for Reddick right? Losing Reddick, Belinelli and Irsan is a lot of outside shooting gone.
Maybe Reddick will take less in exchange for being overpaid last yearThis idea that Belinelli and Ersan were great shooters is a little overblown, they can find guys that are comparable and maybe even pay a little defense (though i will go to my deathbed loving Ersan's ability to draw a charge)
definitely, he has already said.Maybe Reddick will take less in exchange for being overpaid last year
How the hell is Mason Plumee making $14M?definitely, he has already said.
and Denver wants to meet with Lebron now, how the heck can they afford that? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2783919-lebron-james-rumors-nuggets-pursuing-meeting-after-nikola-jokics-new-contract
I thought Green was either a vet minimum or mid level exception.Didn't see useful vets taking the minimum in Cleveland. Korver, Green and Hill sure weren't playing for the min.
I’ve hated Redick since his college days but man he would be deadly on a team with LeBron getting kick outs with no defender within 5’.Lebron in Philly with Simmons, Embiid and a couple shooters would destroy Boston
In this hypothetical scenario, Golden State would just wash him away like they did with Korver.I’ve hated Redick since his college days but man he would be deadly on a team with LeBron getting kick outs with no defender within 5’.
Have you watched basketball lately?Yeah okay if you guys expect me to believe Bron gonna be first option at 35 36 years old over those two. Gtfo. Like I said, my timeline is 2 3 years out. They'd still get blasted by GS in Finals before Ben Joel can develop some more.
I think Green was at the minimum or pretty damn close.Didn't see useful vets taking the minimum in Cleveland. Korver, Green and Hill sure weren't playing for the min.
I love everything about this.
definitely one of the better deals so far.VanVleet re-signs with Raptors for 2/18. Reasonable to me.
Dwight Howard: ".....Pause"OKC can save like $100 million by stretching Carmelo, apparently.
Because some franchises seem hell bent on doubling down on past mistakes. How the hell is Mason Plumee making $14M?
If they can trade Bayless straight out to someone else's cap space, they will have just under $39 million in space. That should enable them to sign Lebron for 35.6 and still use the full midlevel for Redick, so maybe he takes 3/28 or 4/37.So if Philly signs Bron, that means no room for Reddick right? Losing Reddick, Belinelli and Irsan is a lot of outside shooting gone.
Ulis has now been waived. Sounds like, barring a trade, that Suns are all in on giving Elie Okobo major minutes early.(Already pushed back Tyler Ulis's guarantee date).
They wouldn’t have the MLE if they use space. They’d have to use the room exception which is like $5m IIRC.If they can trade Bayless straight out to someone else's cap space, they will have just under $39 million in space. That should enable them to sign Lebron for 35.6 and still use the full midlevel for Redick, so maybe he takes 3/28 or 4/37.
i think, anyway...
Whoops, my bad. Was thinking it was just taxpayer vs non taxpayer, not the apron. Which would defeat the whole purpose. They wouldn’t have the MLE if they use space. They’d have to use the room exception which is like $5m IIRC.
I thought Green was either a vet minimum or mid level exception.
He was at 2.3 last year according to the Internet. Which isn't much in the NBA, but it is a little more than min for a 10+ year vet according to this siteI think Green was at the minimum or pretty damn close.
False analogy. Lebron’s jumper was never anywhere near that bad.Bron developed a jumper didn't he? Too early to say with Simmons right now that he can't ever do that. Either way Embiid should be the main option in the post where he's proven the ability to dominate, and the offense hasn't done a good job feeding him there. I'll take a prime Embiid consistently getting fed in the paint over an aged LeBron. But that has to do more with coaching.
LeBron also wouldn't join the team with Kyrie there after what happened in Cleveland. So Boston would have to trade Kyrie away first.People mention Boston for LeBron....there’s no way Boston would purposely bring on the Kyrie meltdown like that.
You’ll be over it before the ink goes dry.who knows, and i am already not liking Lebron for stealing 2 weeks of my life to watch his plane land in LA. Sure i'll be over that by summer league though when Zaire Smith dunks from half court
Jeff Green played for the veteran's minimum last year.He was at 2.3 last year according to the Internet. Which isn't much in the NBA, but it is a little more than min for a 10+ year vet according to this site
Even Mike Miller wasn't at the minimum when he came with LeBron.
Well I guess not that either probably, because they can’t really go over the cap when signing a FA, right? Is the full mle only for teams already over the cap at the beignning of the new year, or those who have just gone over by signing their own guys?Whoops, my bad. Was thinking it was just taxpayer vs non taxpayer, not the apron. Which would defeat the whole purpose.
so I guess do the above, sign Ellington or Bradley to go just over the cap and then sign Redick to the MLE?
I must be wrong since everyone thinks he did, but I don't quite understand the discrepancy.Jeff Green played for the veteran's minimum last year.
What’s the discrepancy?I must be wrong since everyone thinks he did, but I don't quite understand the discrepancy.
His salary is listed at 2.3 but the min for a 10 year vet is $1,662,176 according to that site. Maybe it's just wrong. What’s the discrepancy?
NoIs the question who has signed for under market value in Cle during both of Lebron’s tenures?
He is an ELITE DEFENDER according to Steve CliffordHouston kicking the tires on MCW. I like that for them, could be interesting
The Rockets have a meeting set up with Michael Carter-Williams on Sunday, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.com.
There are cap holds for most of your own players until you sign them and the hold becomes the actual salary. If you use actual cap space to sign someone else (like LeBron) the team can’t have the MLE.Well I guess not that either probably, because they can’t really go over the cap when signing a FA, right? Is the full mle only for teams already over the cap at the beignning of the new year, or those who have just gone over by signing their own guys?
Kyrie + a couple picks for Kawhi. Lebron takes his talents to Bean Town. Now you can play a lineup of 5 wings.LeBron also wouldn't join the team with Kyrie there after what happened in Cleveland. So Boston would have to trade Kyrie away first.
Are you saying that signing any player with cap space automatically prevents you from using the MLE in that year? There are cap holds for most of your own players until you sign them and the hold becomes the actual salary. If you use actual cap space to sign someone else (like LeBron) the team can’t have the MLE.
Best way to understand this is play around with the Capulator.
