2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

Major Applewhite has been fired at Houston, source told @WatchStadium. 1st reported by @38Godfrey. Top candidates include Dana Holgorsen & Kliff Kingsbury, source said

Wait, Dana Holgorsen would leave West Virginia for an AAC team?

I’m just responding to one specific obnoxious poster that is obsessed with Clemson to the point that his new image is a hilarious dig at them.  It’s strange that you haven’t called him out for his behavior as well, but strange bedfellows and all that.

Also, I attended the playoff game and am enjoying this current run very much. But thanks for the tip.
I did say I wished it was dialed back just Friday.  If you guys want to just flame each other maybe you will find the ignore function helpful.  Or the plenty of other places on social media where y'all endlessly do this crap.

U fans not happy that this happened after Diaz left. Babers will get a look. Cristobal makes a lot of sense.
Maybe it makes sense for Miami but why would Cristobal go "home" to a smaller school with smaller budget and perhaps unrealistic expectations?

@Brett_McMurphy: Since 2015, only 8 programs that were ranked in AP preseason Top 10 finished year unranked. Mark Richt did so twice (Georgia 2015, Miami 2018)

Gotta laugh at the discussion about who should have been 3 and 4 this year still.

This was a 2 dog race. ND and okay deserved to get a chance as much as or more than anyone else.
Agreed. And this gave me a chuckle.

@geauxcrimson: If UGA players had showed up in Baton Rouge the way they’ve showed up on twitter tonight, they might be playing in this game.

Just that... going home. Agree UO is a better job but Miami is such a unique place, passionate place. And he’s got some swagger.

How does it feel to root for a program that is so irrelevant, getting shut out by Virginia barely warrants mention in this thread?  I’d prefer institutional systemic steroid use to your existence.
All I know is that 3 out of 15 tested positive. 20%. Imagine how many there would be if the entire team was tested.

I know you guys are relatively new Clemson fans and may not know this but your program has a history of cheating that goes back decades. I know you and your counterpart don't care about cheating which, along with your personal insults, shows what kind of human you really are.

Tweet that.

I’m not a Clemson fan, but as a sports guy I want all my teams to cheat literally as much as possible. Why do I care? This isn’t the Bible.

I could point out the numerous logical fallacies in this post, or make fun of the fact that you’re a grown man who earnestly typed “Tweet that” in a college football forum.  But enough is enough, it’s time to follow Slapdash’s advice and utilize the Ignore feature.  Take care.

One of the most repeated phrases I've heard since moving South 26 years ago is:

[Pretend to take the remnants of a cigar out of your mouth]

"If you ain't cheatin' ,  you ain't tryin'. "

I've heard it with other sports as well, most notably Nascar.

Gotta admire the honesty here. I don't agree with it, but at least Cappy is upfront with it.
This is all just entertainment. None of it is a reflection on me. I don’t know why people get so upset when their team cheats. You should be happy they’re trying.

I would be irate if FSU wasn’t paying their players under the table as much as humanly possible. What do they think I give money to the school for?

I thought NASCAR's phrase was something along the lines of rubbing and racing.

Dude, Tweet That came directly from Dabo. How long have you been a Tater fan?

I don't agree, but CFB is a bit of a different beast.  None of these teams are even getting the top players to compete without solid bag men. Ironic that it is the biggest sport in the Bible belt

That’s their problem not mine. If the Giants won a title with Bonds that flag would still be flying.
Fair enough. I'm not trying to change your mind. Just offering my perspective. I don't see any sense of accomplishment when it comes to cheating to obtain something. I take pride in things I do and accomplish.

Things like Barry Bonds HR record and the Clemson 1981 MNC are meaningless as far as I'm concerned.

Lol what did Clemson do in 81

Well I know it's not for shoes.  Free Shoes University.  Sorry I couldn't resist.

Yes I know the Gators have no room to talk.

Just so I'm sure, we are equating Bonds/Armstrong use with a supplement up until just recently was a unregulated SARM in all sorts of stuff.  A drug, that WADA has decided was past the post and granted waivers on.

The salary cap really isn’t that hard. Watch McVay get off Goff soon while the Cowboys give Dak a massive contract. Belichick is great at his job and I pride myself on being able to spell his name correctly every time but this is the cfb thread, we should all be blindly defending Saban over that monster
salary cap isn't hard when your GOAT QB plays for 1/3 his market value.

They should have given them more shoes.
I'd like to see all players getting shoes and more. A lot of these kids will get little value out of the college degree they are being given in exchange for years of below market compensation.

I think the business model of college football is more to blame than the universities caught exploiting it.  It creates a culture of cheating that has few parallels in sports, IMO.  The NFL rules make it even worse.

I'm not trying to be the equivalent of a Pats fan in the Shark Pool quoting yourteamcheats.com here.  I'm certainly not interested in defending the team that kicked this off.  However, when you have a sport where cheating is universal, calling out any individual one is tough.  Bama had three players suspended too.  Probably for something very similar.

I'd like to see changes that help this and also help the players.  The status quo makes people a lot of money too.  Including the schools that can only leverage mediocre programs.

Just my :2cents: here.  There are a lot of issues at this intersection of sport and economy

PS: Urban Meyer had players literally killing people.  Like, but not including, Craig James

HAHAHAHA Miami Hurricanes

@flasportsbuzz: Per source, couple prominent former UM players pushing behind scenes for former Jets coach Rex Ryan to replace Richt. Ryan is believed to have interest, if he's contacted officially. So one of bunch of names to keep in mind.
