You aren’t giving Saban the credit for being great at this that he deserves (and Belichick would give him)...Recruiting is very difficult and Saban is legendarily great at it (reference the Rison grandmother Christmas Eve story).

I gotta come clean.  I'm an Auburn grad and fan.  But I also pull for Alabama because their success is my business success.   Nick Saban has been very very good to me.  I'd like to take 100% credit for business sense to be where I was at the time but honestly I got lucky having him show up in my market.

It’s not about Saban actually, it’s about how different and uniquely difficult college coaching is vs pro.  I think most people who follow both closely agree.

Saban failed in Miami..but Alabama was a sleeping giant with history and the machine was built.
