Isn't Angelos pretty notorious for sticking his nose in these deals?MattFancy said:Boy, I nailed that one.
Good thing we got Tim Beckham. The Yankees and Red Sox both make moves to bolster their teams and we trade for Tim Beckham and Jeremy Hellickson. Duquette thinks the division is up for grabs. What is he drinking?
Oh yeah. Supposedly, the O's and Astros had a deal for Britton in place, but Angelos vetoed it.Isn't Angelos pretty notorious for sticking his nose in these deals?
Should be a HRLimp Ditka said:Austin Jackson with an amazing catch, flipping into the bullpen at Fenway
Why? Should a ball that someone catches but falls into foul territory be a foul ball?Should be a HR
If someone catches it how does it fall? Why? Should a ball that someone catches but falls into foul territory be a foul ball?
yeah lets take away all the exciting plays!Rule should be changed so that players feet has to land in fair play for a catch to count. Would prevent idiots like Souza from flying into the stands after foul balls too.
They should paint circles on the field defining the positions for each fielder. The players would have to stay within the area until the pitcher began his windup. Defenders sprinting into their defensive shifts on every pitch would liven things up.Rule should be changed so that players feet has to land in fair play for a catch to count. I meant the player catches the ball and then the player falls into foul territory in the stands (Like the homerun from last night but in foul territory). If someone catches it how does it fall?
Peaked too soonDodgers are 20-3 over their last 23. All 3 loses are to the Braves
Or 1906 Cubs. Eephus, you were around then. Who did they lose the World Series to again? They have the vibe of the 2001 Mariners.
Who were the Mariners' pitchers in 2001? Doubt they had a Kershaw or DarvishThey have the vibe of the 2001 Mariners.

Agree wholeheartedly. And yes jeters catch where he jumped 20 rows into the stands should have been a foul ball tooShould be a HR

In Federation rules, at least one part of one foot must be in play. This makes more sense to me. I'd rather have them break in to the Anaheims game again than listen to a chat with Lars UlrichESPN breaks in to show Mike Trout's try for 1000 Hs.
On the Cubs radio broadcast, Ron Coomer is flummoxed by how big of a deal "Metallica Night" is at the ballpark.I'd rather have them break in to the Anaheims game again than listen to a chat with Lars Ulrich
East Coast bias coming to an end?!ESPN breaks in to show Mike Trout's try for 1000 Hs.
Hippling here after vacation, but this intrigued me so I wanted to go back and check things out. Garcia was really good that year. 4.2 WAR. #5 in baseball with a 3.05 ERA. Sele (215) and Moyer (207 2/3) ate up a lot of innings. Moyer had a 1.10 WHIP which was #7 in baseball that year. Joel Pineiro was dynamite for 11 starts too with a 1.5 WAR and 204 ERA+, that helped things. They also had a great bullpen. Arthur Rhodes was a stud with a 2.4 WAR season pitching to a 1.72 ERA and .853 WHIP. Jeff Nelson and Kaz Sasaski both had >1 WAR as well. All kidding aside, and I know the offense was a machine, but how in the hell did this rotation turn into a 116 win team?

Aaron Sele
Jamie Moyer

Wins above replacement.i've never bothered to learn what WAR(wins against replacement) means anyone care to explain it to me?
... or if you prefer rWAR over fWAR, there's https://www.baseball-reference.com/about/war_explained.shtmlWins above replacement.
And this should do it better than any of us can: http://www.fangraphs.com/library/misc/war/
I heard Mets desperately want him backMets would've been better off with a compensation pick, no? I assume he would've turned down the QO?
Or Bruce on a 1-year?
Not even sure they get good off seasons deals. See: Mark TrumboThe market for slugging COFers is pretty low right now, Bruce and JD are exhibits A and B. Both should get nice offseason deals but as I said way back in May re: JD trade value, teams weren't going to pony up.
Bruce has 29 homers and an 850 OPS and was just traded for a low A reliever.
