2018 MLB Regular Season Thread! Current thread batting average: .420 (1 Viewer)

Speaking of moody #####es, Brain Kenny taking his teammate David Price to the woodshed about his beef with and behavior towards Eck.

He seems miserable. Sounds like a totally different guy than he was in Tampa.
Also sounds like misery loves company. We're talking about a HOF guy here in Eck, who had the audacity to say "yuck" about a guy's stat line and those ####s are applauding Price for this?

This, the Machado crap earlier in the year, Chris Sale being a miserable human being, the fan base.

Makes it real easy to root for Rays and Yanks.

One advantage of playing half your games in Petco is that it makes pitchers seem better than they actually are.  Preller was able to package Trevor Cahill, Ryan Buchter and Brandon Maurer for a prospect and a couple of arms who could be as good as the ones he dealt.  The Royals are supposedly paying Travis Wood's salary as well.

team is in first place with the second most wins in the AL.
Lousy in-game manager, a growing sense that he has no control over the clubhouse, and he's not Dombrowski's guy. The Price/Eck thing has been a PR disaster, Short of winning the WS I doubt he's back next year, and if the swoon continues I think the timing accelerates.

I've grown to dislike him so maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Jose Altuve is hitting .507 in the month of July
Saw him on Sunday in Camden Yards and he had a monster game.  Great privilege to watch.  I kept lamenting to my daughter that we were not getting to see their best player, though over the course of the game, I started re-thinking my stance.

I guess I'd still slightly lean toward Correa because of his position and the fact that he has more potential to unlock, but Altuve is just an offensive monster including the speed, I'm not totally sure.  Plus he's on a brilliant contract for 2 more years.  ####### A.

Joey Gallo is the only player in MLB history to have an OPS over 850 with a BA under 200.
Only one other player in MLB history has had a season with at least 25 HRs and fewer than 60 hits ... McGwire in 2001 (29 HR, 56 H, .187 AVG, .808 OPS).

Gallo is at 25 HR/54 H entering tonight.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports the Rays are acquiring Lucas Duda from the Mets.

After deliberating for about an hour, Sherman said the deal is now official. The Mets will acquire minor league right-hander Drew Smith in return. It's a good match on paper as the Mets were looking to break up their infield logjam while the Rays needed a left-handed bat to replace Colby Rasmus. The power-hitting 31-year-old should immediately slide in as the Rays' everyday DH.

Ramos has another year of arbitration left, so the Mets have him for 2018. They still plan to trade Addison Reed who will be a free agent, and they potentially improved the market for him by taking another righty reliever off it. Neither prospect they gave up is real exciting. If the Mets are good in 2018, they can ride Ramos as closer, and if not he can be a deadline commodity again.

All that said it's still a pretty strange move for the Mets that probably won't help them.
