The Cubs were leading Pittsburgh 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Pittsburgh got the tying and then go-ahead run with the lead runner getting thrown out for out number two and then again to end the inning. The sequence happened so quickly that Pittsburgh did not have time to get their closer warmed up. So, the top of the 9th begins with an empty mound, and Rivero still in the bullpen. Thee of the four umpires had to walk over and start yelling at him to get on the field.

This is good shtick.

Jose Reyes is playing like the Reyes of 5-6 years ago the last month and might win my roto league for me. I was desperate when I picked him up and now he is filling the stat sheet.

Brewer's Jimmy Nelson done for the year with strained rotator cuff and partially torn labrum in his right shoulder. Probably the end of the Brewer's playoff hopes.

Sweeping the Cubs seems goodish

Has there ever been a team in history that has played to the extremes the Dodgers have?

The 1969 Cubs come to mind, but I would they say they wilted more than they collapsed. Leo Durocher had five regulars play 150+ games, with Billy Williams and Ron Santo at 160, and two starters with over 300 innings pitched. They simply wore out.

did it diving back into a base too, so needless. He really seemed to take a leap this year, bummed for the kid.

A's pushing for the Laney College site, which is pretty sensible. Close to bart and fwy, although the traffic in there is already brutal. Shooting for 2023, apparently.

It's never straightforward to build a sports facility in the Bay Area.  There will probably still be twists between now and 2023.  It seems like a nice enough location unless you  happen to live around there.

It's definitely going to impact the surrounding neighborhoods. Like with SF, the downsides of gentrification/over-development are given mere lip service, the developers win, and the people who lived there will get pushed out. Which is why Oakland, eventually, is going to suck as much as San Francisco does now.

Gary Danielson scrabbled for a TD, but it wasn't enough as Bob Avellini connects with Golden Richards for a TD, Roland Harper rushes for another.  Bob Thomas adds a late FG and you have your final, Bears over Lions 17-7

Nice ending to the Dodgers/Giants game. It makes it easier to understand why the Dodgers have seven wins in September.

Utley at bat. Puig on 1st.

Utley squares up to bunt

Puig takes off for second

Utely pulls the bat back

Puig slows down as he approaches 2nd, rather than slide, and Joe Panik is waiting for him after Posey's throw.

Is judge back in the mvp discussion? I know he slumped miserably in July and Aug but he's had an incredible September and his final line is just eye popping.
