Getz is probably the only person you'd have to seek clarification for hereHampus or Elias?
It's very hard not to like him when he's not mangling guys for no reason.Tom Wilson just knocked a mother####er out!![]()
Yes! 1980 vs. Michigan. Harry Oliver kicked a 51 yard fg to win for ND. I remember walking forever through residential neighborhoods because my uncle wouldn’t pay to park. Maybe it’s changed, but I’d pay to park.Anybody gone to a football game at Notre Dame before?
Going to the Winter Classic with the family and advanced parking passes go on sale tomorrow morning. Just wondering if I should grab one of them, or if there's enough day of/pull up parking?
Wonder if there's anyone else the Penguin's GM would like to claim Wilson is afraid of?Tom Wilson just knocked a mother####er out!![]()
I would love Wilson on my team. Having said that teams need to run at him and his team mates. I hope he gets Skinner. The thing is Tom Wilson is infinitely better at hockey than Ryan Reaves or Jamie Oleksiak or whoever Pens fans want to talk about. Yes, some of Wilson's hits have been absolutely brutal but (when he's not mangling guys for no reason), he is a very good player, who skates well and is legitimate offensively, and still improving.
I heard a radio segment the other day talking about how people were laughing at the massive contract Wilson got and this person was saying he was laughing when he heard it too and then he heard from an NHL GM who said, Wilson was "a unicorn" in today's game. There just aren't guys now who are big, quick on skates, can score regularly and hit and have the physical impact he has.
I had a discussion with a friend after, trying to think of other guys in this mold. Wayne Simmonds was but he's clearly on the decline. Same goes for the old guys on the Ducks. Lucic is a shell of his former self. Marchand is a dirtbag in a different sort of way (and better than anyone else mentioned in this post).
Jamie Benn, I think fits the mold and is THE modern day power forward. Evander Kane when he's on his game (and look at the contract he got). The Tkachuk brothers probably fit, god I hate that Brady is going to work out for Ottawa, and that's about it.
(and I know there are Miles Wood's and Zach Hyman's and Tyler Bertuzzi's and Josh Anderson's and Nick Ritchie's and Michael Ferland's etc... I just don't think they're having anywhere near the impact of Wilson/Benn/Tkachuk/Tkachuk/Kane offensively).
Wilson is Crosby compared to RupperWilson is a modern day Rupp.
I went to a game there four years ago. A buddy of mine paid roughly $150 for a single-game pass in the shadow of the stadium. I paid, I think, $35 and parked well over a mile away.Anybody gone to a football game at Notre Dame before?

Couturier didn’t do himself any favors there.@BroadStHockey: Couturier boarded right in front of the ref, no call. https://twitter.com/BroadStHockey/status/1075940690515906568/photo/1
Browns situation is pretty unique since they got to keep the team name and franchise records. Ravens are considered an expansion franchise basically. Which is weird also since the Colts had so much history there.Canes are wearing Whalers jerseys on Sunday.
Like the article says, I like that Dundon has a sense of appreciation of the provenance and history of the club, and that he only intends respect.
But if I lived in CT, I could see being a little ticked.
To use an NFL corollary, would the good folk of Cleveland have appreciated if Art Modell held a historic uni throwback day, having the team don the classic Browns white-on-white or their ultra-orange mid-80s unis for a home game in Baltimore?
This would be like the Washington Nationals wearing Montreal Expos jerseys.Browns situation is pretty unique since they got to keep the team name and franchise records. Ravens are considered an expansion franchise basically. Which is weird also since the Colts had so much history there.
Wonder if the Coyotes ever wore Jets throwbacks.
Unique situation or not, you don't think people in Cleveland would resent a tribute to their team that underlines the stick-in-the-eye, move-the-team-out-under-the-cover-of-darkness event, generated by the very FO that moved them out in such a distasteful fashion in the first place?Browns situation is pretty unique since they got to keep the team name and franchise records. but that's the point. it would never happen since the Ravens don't own any of the history/intellectual property that belongs to the Cleveland Browns.Unique situation or not, you don't think people in Cleveland would resent a tribute to their team that underlines the stick-in-the-eye, move-the-team-out-under-the-cover-of-darkness event, generated by the very FO that moved them out in such a distasteful fashion in the first place?
Getting a little technical about a thought experiment.but that's the point. it would never happen since the Ravens don't own any of the history/intellectual property that belongs to the Cleveland Browns.
And of course Baltimore feels the same way about the Colts. Though they are honoring the 60th anniversary of the 1958 champion Colts next Sunday - Lenny Moore and a few other guys are still around. But that's about celebrating the individuals, not the franchiseGetting a little technical about a thought experiment.
And I'll own the fact that this may not be the best analogy, as yes, it's quite unlikely the Ravens would have a "Heritage Day" at M&T Bank stadium by donning throwback Browns jerseys because Bisciotti doesn't have the IP rights to all things Browns.
Regardless of legalities, point is, I think Browns fans would not want to be reminded of a very dark day in team history, seeing another team reveling in what they feel is their team's heritage.
Which is exactly the same way I'd feel if I lived in CT if I saw Staal and Aho and the rest of the gang in Whalers jerseys.
People living in CLE or CT don't technically control the rights to their teams, either, but you can damn well be sure they feel a hell a lot of ownership and pride when it comes to their team and its history.
They have been pretty damned dominant since the 2014-15 season, outside of the one year when they missed the playoffs. And a pretty impressive overall run since 2002.Bolts are pretty good
The horror!Aaron Rudnicki said:Not arguing the point. Just don’t think the Browns are a great example given what happened there.
Imagine the Avs having a Nordiques throwback night.
I can’t even get mad when Washington has to steal a game with their goalie.Holtby with the Hacek tribute performance in tonight’s win
I was just chatting last night online with someone who works in another division of our company during our shift and we were talking about the Sabres (he's from Buffalo originally), and I was telling him how much I love listening to Rick call a game.@ByTimGraham: I'm told Rick Jeanneret was experiencing heart-related issues and was taken by ambulance to Buffalo General. As someone I consider a good friend, it's difficult to report these things, but there are so many fans who care about him. Let's hope he's OK.
