2019 New Head Coach, GM & Coordinator Hires (1 Viewer)

Placeholder for tracking new staff hires. I’ll just add that franchises with fresh coaching and personnel outlooks often contribute the best FF values every year. New wine in old bottles and that kind of thing.

So far:

  • Mayock GM at Raiders.
  • Kingsbury HC at Cards.
  • Arians HC at TB, Bowles is DC.
  • LaFleur HC at GB.
  • Fangio HC to Denver.
  • Kitchens HC at Cleveland.
  • Gase HC to NY Jets.
  • K. Moore OC in Dal.
  • Zac Taylor HC for Cincy.

Good to see fresh offensive minded guys getting opportunity instead of stale, conservative multi time losers.

Cinci, Miami and Jets still left. My wild-a## guess is Bienemy to Bengals, Richard to Dolphins and McCarthy to Jets (though it could also be Monken).

The tell will be the teams that don't make a hire in the next few days. Then you'll know they're targeting one of the guys whose team is still in the playoffs.

Elway zags, lots of young up and comer offensive minds being hired and he gets a 60-year old extremely experienced, but never a head coach. Expecting that Kubiak will be OC
Yes, I believe they made that official. I think that's a smart move, and a unique situation. Most teams don't have the opportunity to hire an in-house OC of Kubiak's quality (and it helps that he presumably does not want to be a head coach again, so Fangio doesn't have to constantly look over his shoulder, or worry about him getting poached by another team). I would imagine it will play out as a mirror image of the Rams, where Fangio will let Kubiak do his thing with the offense while he concentrates on the defense.

lauginh at Az and GB..LeFleur? really? why'd you let McCarthy go in the first place if you were going to replace him with a never-has-been?

the dude the Cards hired just looks like he's in so far over his head that he's just loving the $$ he's going to earn. failure at Tx Tech, loser at USC. shows just how bad the Az ownership is.

Denver NAILED it.Fangio and Kubiak?! put Lindsay down for 1500 yards, 15+ tds. beastmode.

Kevin Stefanski has agreed to be the Vikings offensive coordinator according to Scheftler.
Meh. I guess we gotta give him a chance but was hoping for someone new to the organization.

I think Fangio, Gase, Arians, and Kitchens were all good hires. The LaFleur and Kingsbury hires are a disaster. No clue how no one wants McCarthy. Not that he's great or anything but he deserves a job.

Offensive genius. Dolphins always played better than their roster. Remember he did it with tannehil, Cutler, and osweiler.
Is he though or was he just the OC for Manning in Denver? I am pretty sure Manning was the one running that offense. Tannehill, Cutler and Osweiler have never done anything better than ok under Gase. Plus Gase has a bad reputation of not getting along with players and ownership.

Anyone hear anything about DeFilipo? Seems quiet for a guy who many thought would get some HC consideration.
Ya it seems crazy how fast all these positions got filled.  What's even left?  Just Miami and Cinci?  Weird we haven't heard any of those teams doing much interviewing.  Could see him in Miami maybe and signing Nick.

Even if manning was running the offense I wouldn't call it a bad thing that he learned from manning. Bottom line is he has worked with two of the best offensive minds in football in manning and martz. He's a great offensive coach.

Here is where his offenses ranked the last 4 years

2018: 31st in yards, 26th in points

2017: 25th in yards, 28th in points

2016: 24th in yards, 17th in points

2015: 21st in yards, 23rd in points

I am sorry, but I don't see anything that leads me to believe he is an offensive genius.

Such as who?

I wasn't excited about any of the coaching candidates this year.

This is a low bar, but I am just glad they didn't hire Hue Jackson.

I am actually excited about Stefanski got the job. He has been with the Vikings since 2006 so he has a very unique and experienced perspective about the team.

Vikings Name Kevin Stefanski Offensive Coordinator

Does Gregg Williams suck?  I am not a Browns fan but from the outside it sure seemed like he had them going in a positive direction after Hue Jackson was kicked to the curb.

Not a fan of someone of Kubiak's caliber and track record being shunned for "philosophical differences"....by a guy who's never coached an offensive play in his life.

No he's a great defensive coordinator and is taking the jets job. Can't exactly stay in Cleveland which would essentially be a demotion taking orders from the guy he was giving orders to last year. That would be weird.

From all I’ve read, I got the feeling Kubiak really didn’t want the job.
Since the Vikings have hired Kubiak now I have been reading about why he did not sign with Denver.

According to MIke Klis:

A major reason for breakup between Gary Kubiak and Broncos was his insistence he needed Pariani to help install his offense, sources told 9News. Pariani had been fired by Broncos after 2016. Pariani was dealbreaker for Broncos coaches/FB operations/potentially players

Mayock to OAK is a joke.  Guy will fall flat on his face.  He's in over his head.  BC guy, which is his only saving grace.
