2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (1 Viewer)

Speaking of Team USA, when they lost to Nigeria I was pretty shocked (and still am) but I just finally looked up their roster and that team is "loaded" compared to what I expected. KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, Gabe Vincent, Josh Okogie, Ekpe Udoh, Chimenzie Metu, and Miye Oni are all on NBA rosters and are all young enough to take these kind of games seriously. Plus they have Michael Gbinije ( @scoobus).  Might have to throw a bet on them to medal.
Silent G played great down the stretch.

Checks out.

He didn't play for them in this game, and they won.
On a serious note, you have to think/hope that Team USA is using these exhibitions just to get to know each other -- they just finished a long season and may be taking it easy in these games and using them more as practices.  Whereas other countries come at the US hard no matter the stakes.

Yes, this.  People still expect them to be able to sleepwalk to wins, but these are 2 teams with NBA rosters they have faced.  Not exactly Guatemala or Iraq they are facing here.

Pop is no fool, I trust his process and expect them to be ready for the olympics, especially once they have their full roster with Booker, Holiday and Middleton.

Shams:

The 76ers have opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and have engaged with teams, sources told The Athletic. Those sources also say that teams that have engaged with the 76ers about Simmons have been met with a high price threshold for the three-time All-Star.

“(The 76ers) want an All-Star-caliber player in return,” one source with knowledge of the ongoing talks said.

Make no mistake: Interest across the league in Simmons remains robust. He’s turning just 25 this month, was an All-NBA team member in 2019-20, is a two-time All-Defensive first-team member and a Rookie of the Year award winner. Simmons is under contract through 2025, making him the type of superstar talent that rarely becomes available at an attainable price at this juncture of his career.

Simmons decided to skip the Tokyo Olympics this summer with the Australian national team to spend time on his individual game. For Simmons, this is the crossroads of his career. So far, there appears to be renewed determination within him about bettering his game, even if he could be playing elsewhere soon.

still insist y'all are ignoring the issue central to the NBA - players arent listening to coaches anymore. it's why we have had no idea which Bucks team, which Clippers team, which Sixers team, which pretty much anyone but Suns team (and tonite will tell that tale) will show up on the floor from day2day, why American stars arent beating international scrubs and why teams dont know whether to pay ransom or flotsam for one of the dozen most-talented players in the game in their dealings w Philly. if you honestly think JayTay is listening to Pop more than Brad Beal or his publicist or even his stylist this summer, or that Bud has a WORD of say in how Anteaternintendo adjusts his game to his injury or Ben Smmons is letting ANYBODY from any team in on his offseason skills embiggening, we aint watching the same game.

Cromulent points being made here.

Philly is going to be very disappointed if they think they are getting 25 year old superstar talent that rarely becomes available value for him.

This.

If they think that highly of him, they can keep him.  He is more than just a liability on offense, he is a severe detriment to the offensive output of the entire team in the playoffs.  The Celtics swept them in 2020 mostly due to Simmons and Brown's inability to solve keeping him on the floor.  This season, his offensive shortcomings cost them game 7 against Atlanta.

Teams don't put the effort in very often during the regular season to game plan and force him to shoot, but come playoff time he is a huge liability right now.

Well if you've ever attended a AAU "practice" you would understand. Many (if not all) of the "coaches" are essentially hype men. The practices are just hyper intense fast break pick up games with no plays being run. Nobody actually plays defense so the fouls never get out of hand.

oh, i get why. same reason only one of the 7 new coaching hires were caucasian. it's what i call the Kyrie Syndrome.

Brad Stevens was successful in his first few seasons with the Celtics because, for the guys he turned into genuine ballers (Crowder, Evan Turner, Sullinger, Olynyk, IT4, Daniel Theis, Marcus Morris) and the Jerseypix kids, he ALWAYS had the right idea. that enabled them to sign Horford, and then his protege Hayward. But then Traitor Danny found a way to turn his damaged Leprechaun into the best handle in the game w a championship pedigree in Kyrie.

turns out, though, Irving had just spent four years watching LeBron tell coaches to sit the #### down and his Borderline Personality Disorder has him wanting his own team, not to win another championship with but so HE can tell coaches to sit the #### down. but he comes into Beantown to find that the players fairly idolize the ofay-in-charge. how does he leverage this into a stfd scenario?

original glamour-signee Hayward provides the opp almost immediately by breaking his leg first game. Kyrie spends a year spinning his web and, when Coach indulges his proteges painstaking comeback trail with all the pampering, then minutes he can handle. Kyrie starts his, "white boy wants time, white coach gives him time, white boy wants minutes, white coach gives him minutes. you think any of us would get that treatment?!". The Jerseypix kids get wide eyes and old pros Horford & Morris get in on it. by the time Kyrie leaves to turn Brooklyn into his next-gen hoops mecca, the old pros are dunwiddit and the Jerseypix kids dont wanna listen to coach anymore.

from that syndrome an entire culture springs - players basing their self-worth, street cred AND market value on whether & what they get told and whether or what they do the telling on. and, yes, the result is starting to have a very AAU feel. and woe is my favorite sport

Love this quote from Anthony Edwards in Slam:

“I never watched film, but now I watch a lot of film. It’s fun because you see, like, OK, if they giving me this shot, I’m gonna go to the gym and work on this shot. Ok, they’re giving me this midrange, I’m gonna go to the gym and work on this for three hours today. And then come back and work on it tomorrow until I feel like I perfected it.”

Here's my buddy and me on Sunday night.  I'm the one in the blue.  You can tell that I'm a marathon runner and not a body-builder, but I definitely don't think I'm making a fool of myself going sleeveless like those mouth-breathers in Phoenix...
I applaud your use of coordinated colors, accessories and proper foot attire.

The socks are a little long for my liking but we’ll look past that.

This of course all goes out of the window if there is so much as one side pocket on those shorts that we can’t see. I presume this is not the case because you’re not a monster.

i dont think we will have a huge turnount for deer district tonight since it looks like it will be pouring but then again i got to remember the power of beer take that to the bank bromigos

Been awhile.  Seems like only yesterday when Giannis' knee injury gave him no chance of being out there again.    And surely the franchise wouldn't risk it.

Bucks game plan has to be getting Ayton in foul trouble. Suns are defenseless without him. So I expect a lot of "how can I get bumped into". Sorry but there's little sillier to me than conspiracy theories. Block/Charge is just the most difficult call to make.

That said, Go Bucks. More basketball please.

:lmao:  i'll give the C's some credit, but something tells me Simmons' torn Patella in his knee had more to do with him getting shut down in the 2020 playoffs.

i'm not an expert or anything, but It is kind of tough to score when you total 0 minutes in the entire series
