I was just about to say, so many sizzling takes floating around these days, both here and in the Twittersphere.@Capella The 2021-22 NBA thread is going to have a hard time competing with the scorching hawt takes here.
Well, I'm just hoping Mike Lindell can get to the bottom of this. This Russia conspiracy may have legs…..what a shame.
The IOC is for sale and always will be for sale. One of THE most corrupt sheisters to ever exist. So the non-Russian "Russia" cheaters get medals even though the country is banned?
Putin is laughing is arsky off as his subjects lay precious metals at his feet.
I swear just a few posts earlier you asked to not turn this into a PSF thread, then you go right ahead and do it.Well, I'm just hoping Mike Lindell can get to the bottom of this.

Lewho? It’s like a madlibs and they are just subbing Simone in for Lebron now. Same tired, cynical, disingenuous stuff.
Rider gets the medal, then they eat the winning horse. Now there is a woman on a horse dancing to music. Who gets the medal, the person or the horse? Horse seems to be doing most of the work here.
Do they hug after every dance like the girls in beach volleyball do after every point earned?Rider gets the medal, then they eat the winning horse.
"Tenderizing" they call it.Do they hug after every dance like the girls in beach volleyball do after every point earned?
Link to where these girls cheated? So the non-Russian "Russia" cheaters get medals even though the country is banned?

Cuz it's fun?Just watched doubles badminton. How do people become so good at something so obscure? With this much quick-twitch reactionary ability, why not go into something lucrative like plate spinning or sex work?
Since Russia is not officially at the Olympics, they've been playing a concerto from Tchaikovsky at the medal ceremony for the Russians instead of the bombastic Russian national anthem. I saw a good twitter thread guessing which song they would play for US athletes if we were banned and they couldn't play the star spangled banner. Maybe Jack and Diane? Or something by Kanye West?So the non-Russian "Russia" cheaters get medals even though the country is banned?

so, cbc coverage seems ok, but i was surfing my semi illegal fire stick streams and came across BEIN sport covering a lot of events, boxing, cycling, synchronized marathon, etc.Im in the Detroit area...Do you guys get CBC On your cable? Canadian Broadcasting? They do a great job with coverage. Far less about the human element(there is some) and far more competition. I know some love the human element and can't get enough of it, I could do with less. CBC does a good job with the two IMO.
did you see the story about that korean station that showed somewhat strange images to represent nations during the opening ceremony? lol for ukraine they showed chernobyl. for italy they showed a pizza.Since Russia is not officially at the Olympics, they've been playing a concerto from Tchaikovsky at the medal ceremony for the Russians instead of the bombastic Russian national anthem. Having stressed out and stepped away from the team competition, it doesn't feel right to me if she jumps back in for the individual events. I feel like she's kind of lost the "right" to do so.Possibly. I'm really not sure how to look at this. She'll be given grace from mostly everyone if this was a mental thing, and thats fine.
How would you view it as a teammate though? Say she goes on to compete and excel in her individual comps....I'd be pretty pissed as a teammate knowing we could have gotten gold instead of silver because Biles decided it was mentally too much.
Tom Brady's not getting a pass if he goes 1-6 with 2 picks in the first half of the super bowl and tells the coach he's just not feeling it today and wants to sit out.
Friends theme song. Or "Old Town Road."Since Russia is not officially at the Olympics, they've been playing a concerto from Tchaikovsky at the medal ceremony for the Russians instead of the bombastic Russian national anthem. There is no backup in team gymnastics. They have 4 girls and 3 of their scores "count" towards the team total. When Biles quit, it meant that the other 3 girls had MORE pressure on them as if any of them faltered even a little, then their team total reflected that.Building off the Brady analogy, if Brady can't get out of his head, at some point the coach puts in the backup to give the team a chance. In this case, the backups to Simone Biles are pretty darn good. If Biles continues to compete but can't get out of her head, maybe they don't even get silver. But if Biles sits out, the backups could give the team the best chance to get the silver even if they aren't the best chance at getting gold. The other women deserve a chance to get the best medal they can and Biles has an obligation to step aside if she can't do it herself.
You mean for the horse dancing? Probably.in equestrian events, do the horses get medals? does nbc run up and close and personals? visiting the barn, meeting the mare, sifting thru hay?
I thought they chose the three girls who would perform for the finals. So out of the four that performed in the qualifying, only three would perform during finals. Basically I thought that Biles dropping out with give an alternate a chance to perform. But it appears I was mistaken, thanks for the clarification. There is no backup in team gymnastics. The fact that the remaining US girls held on for silver is amazing. What's weird is that Simone Biles will still get a silver medal for her "performance" as she's still considered part of the "team."
Yeah, those guys were just off. I don't know if it was their footwork or what, but they just never looked comfortable. In other news, the US had a disastrous day of fencing yesterday, in what were likely their strongest opportunities for medals in the entire event. Neither Massialas nor Meinhardt (both top ~5 in the world) even made it to the final 16 in men's foil. Mariel Zagunis defied the odds a bit and made it to the quarters in women's sabre before being knocked out.
USA ends up taking home just 1 individual medal - Kiefer's gold in women's foil.
As we look ahead at team events, men's foil should have a good shot at a medal, but they'll need to fence better than they individually fenced in the solo event. Women's sabre and women's foil more longshots but you never know, if they get hot. Men's sabre unlikely. Men's and women's epee, don't even bother watching (women's epee is already over - US finished 5th).
The 5 minutes I watched was kinda boring. Course I don't know much about it. I watched 2 women surrounded by like 5 jet skis. The waves looked big, and I kept wondering when they might, you know, catch a wave. There's no doubt that surfing at this level is really tough. Surfing at all is tough. But (1) there isn't much drama here and (2) it seems there's a lot of luck involved, more so than in other events. Cool to watch, but somewhat less impressive imho.
It's not amazing at all. The women's gymnastics team is HUGELY talented and maybe now that the supposed GOAT is stepping back, we get some attention paid to those left that actually can fight through adversity and perform. Cause there are some seriously good athletes on that team not named Biles. There is no backup in team gymnastics. They have 4 girls and 3 of their scores "count" towards the team total. Now I get home and turn on NBC and no point in watching the ball game tonightReminds me of the old days when Posty started multiple threads announcing the the results in the title so there was no way to avoid the spoiler. What a guy.
Anyway, yeah - two big events I was looking forward to watching this evening and I already know the results just by opening my twitter app earlier.
They took second with 3 girls while the rest of the competitors had 4. That's amazing in my book. And yes, I understand how talented our gymnasts are. If Mykayla Skinner had stayed and was able to take Simone's spot they very well might have won the gold still. It's not amazing at all. I just wanted to give myself a little credit, because I think I might have been correct. In qualifying, all four women compete and the top three scores count. So by dropping out, Biles gave somebody else the chance to step in for the team. If she continued, her score would have counted, and with the mistakes she was making, might have hurt the team more by competing herself as opposed to giving someone else a chance.Team Finals
Scores start again from zero. In the team final, only three athletes can compete on a given event for each team and all three scores count toward the team final ("three up, three count").
That was a different song, Casey Kasem.considering bruce springsteen’s daughter is in the olympics, if suppose if this was the USAOC they would use Born in the USA and everyone would do the courtney cocks side to side dance on the podium.
dancing in the dorkThat was a different song, Casey Kasem.
So now we’re advocating violence against a young woman with a mental health issue. Shut it down.Having stressed out and stepped away from the team competition, it doesn't feel right to me if she jumps back in for the individual events. I feel like she's kind of lost the "right" to do so.
I wish Simone could have had a Godfather moment ...a quick reality check with a parent or coach to snap her out of it (if possible) and get her back on track for that team competition.

Thanks for looking into it. I assumed the format was the same as qualifying.I just wanted to give myself a little credit, because I think I might have been correct.
