2021-22 Battle for Shining Path's Cup - Semifinal time!! (1 Viewer)

So I have to carry a TE but don’t have to play one?  That’s special.
I know. It's a "unique feature" of the Fleaflicker site. If one TE wasn't required on the roster the position couldn't be used as a Flex option at all.

I didn't write the software. Take it up with Dennis Nedry.

I feel like a richard for protesting a little, but changing the rules in the last round "could have" led to unintended consequences. Been there done that. Who knows. Maybe the "illegal" lineups would have been locked until fixed. When my lineup was illegal, I found a message that suggested as much. Lots of other maybes crossed my mind. But who really wants to roll with a red "illegal" on your team page all year?

Anyway Kee, rock, sorry if my sticklering for the rules annoyed you.

Can't believe how fast it's gone.  Last year at this time we weren't even sure Jessup was still kicking around out there.
 damned hurricane! In the midst of a pandemic no less! At least no hurricane for this draft.

I don't think it was a big deal.  I mentioned earlier on when I saw the no starting TE rule that our roster was required to have one on it according to the site.  I was like Andy and would have thought the site would have forced roster compliance, but it didn't in the draft.  I presume it would make you do so in the regular season.  That's the only reason I took Pitts was to have someone who could potentially be useful if I was forced to take up a roster slot with it.

The waivers work the same way they did last year.  The initial waiver priority is set based on draft order.  Since I'm third from last, I have waiver priority 3 going into the first week.  After the first week, waiver priority is then set on W/L record and points scored, so if you were the worst team in week 1 you will get your first overall waiver claim.  The second worst team would then get their top waiver priority (if they had one) and it will go down the list.  It would then go back to the worst if they had a second waiver.  After waivers are done, it is then first come first serve on Wednesday morning.  Waiver priority resets weekly based on W/L record afterwards.

The TE being dropped was a pretty sizable change, and I checked with Andy right after the draft started to make sure it was intended.  Probably should have called it out to everyone to make sure they noticed it.  The roster requirements still require you to have a TE but you don't have to start one.

The bolded part under the "Expand" is where I mentioned it.

Your 2021 BeatDown Brigade:

  • QB: Dak, T. Lawrence
  • RB: A. Jones, D. Swift, C. Carson, M. Gordon, AJ Dillon, T. Pollard
  • WR: Diggs, Kupp, Chark, Waddle, Shenault
  • TE: Pitts
  • DEF: Ravens
Not really digging this team.  Dak was on a record breaking pace last year but had a brutal ankle injury.  Loaded WRs with a crappy D should give him opps but already playing through a bum shoulder.  Lawrence has a ton of upside and they are likely to be behind a lot, giving him opps.  Wanted Trey Lance late so good snipe there.

I'm not sure I'm sold on Jones, although he was the #5 RB last year.  Got his handcuff late.  Swift is always hurt.  Carson is good while in the lineup but is also hurt. Gordon has competition in a rookie RB in Denver but is good in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield. Pollard is a lottery ticket I don't want cashed since I'm a Cowboys fan.

Happy with Diggs, could make a run at top WR.  Kupp is generally pretty safe in PPR and has a QB upgrade, but that could translate better for Robert Woods.  I got Chark and Shenault to hopefully have the top WR in Jax.  I really like Waddle as a sleeper.

I'm in on Pitts being a generational TE.  I think he plays more wideout than inline.

Ravens always have a solid if not spectacular D, along with a run first offense that should help keep scores low.

I asked before I picked for the specific reasoning you mentioned. If everybody played the draft according to having to draft a TE, then it wasn't fair that we didn't. I completely agree with you and the commish's decision. I'm sort of the one that brought it up and was really affected (Keerock too), but the decision and your reasoning would have been mine were I commish.

I'm not saying that to be nice; I'm saying it because in the issue of fairness, you're right. Good job, GB.

Ladies and gentlemen, rockaction's Shutdown Corner

QB - Josh Allen, Ryan Fitzpatrick (!)
RB - Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Najee Harris, Trey Sermon, James Robinson
WR - Chris Godwin, Chase Claypool, Brandin Cooks, Antonio Brown, Curtis Samuel, Marvin Jones
TE - Noah Fant
D/ST - Washington Football Team

Analysis: I don't know, really. I think if anything sticks out it's that this roster looks more deep than top-heavy, really, which might be a kiss of death. It depends on how the season goes. Is it one of attrition or of the cream rising to the fore? I think, at the biggest question mark, WR, it all hinges on quarterbacks that are forty-plus, an often losing bet. Does Brady continue to spread it around and Godwin round his routes constantly? That would not be good. Does Ben last long enough to throw deeper out routes to Claypool? Seems like that will go a long way in determining how this team does.

I'm not worried about running back volume for the top three, but have health concerns. Cook and Mixon seem to be twelve-fourteen game guys. Can Sermon and Robinson run well enough to have a volume share worthy of a start? I personally love Sermon's talent.

QBs? Brief analysis. I love 'em. Give me more of 'em. Besides Trey Lance, I'm thrilled with Allen and Fitz going into the season. Used a high pick on Allen and am hoping he doesn't regress and still runs plenty without too much punishment. Same with Fitz. Counting on the WFT offense to be much, much better and I see that happening quite easily.

Fant, in my mind, is one of the most athletic TEs in the game, though he'll likely never see the staring lineup, so let's turn to the Washington D/ST. That line is formidable and should be an eight point a game floor because they probably (aside from Cleveland and TB) have the best D/ST right now in my estimation. They have three first-rounders up front in Young, Sweat, and Allen. They'll be stalwart in points against, which means little in this fantasy football league, but they'll have sacks galore and turnovers, which some say is a function of luck, but I disagree with that. It's about flying to the ball and causing them. Ask Peanut Tillman. That line. Ooowee.  Anyway...

we shall see. Good luck to everyone.

Didn't annoy me in the least... I agree with you 100%

This roster has record-setting potential. :coffee:

You should see my corny work in the Shark Pool about waiting on receivers in redraft. I think I vomited and burped in my mouth a little while writing it, but it had to be done.

"Who's going to do it? You, Hot Sauce Guy?! You, Bald Bull?"

That's just a glimpse into its genius.  :toilet:

higgins' oVVn & shoot

QB: Brady, Cousins, Ben

RB: J. Taylor, R. Jones, Conner, Fournette

WR: Tyreek, ARob, McLaurin, Diontae, M. Williams, M. Pittman

TE: Jonnu

DSTLA Rams

I'm watching preseason football. I haven't watched regular season in years 'cept having a little redzone for company.

I haven't a clue how I would rate my team nor care how others will. It should suck considering.

I think Keerock has a potentially breakout qb in this big rook in Chicago. Impressive. I did have a Culpepper flashback. Hey he was fantasy gold once. :)

I want a 2nd league. A devil on one shoulder is telling me to save Goidpankal before it's too late. Anyone interested in a 30 rd redraft starting 22 with 2 mandatory QBs and TEs and idp scoring tweaked to equal the value of offensive players to the point JJWatt was correctly the #1 pick twice? There's an angel on the other shoulder telling me to have a beer and wait for the NBA.

Agreed.  Of course there are a lot of ways to set records :P

They ranked my draft the worst?

No wonder I don't pay for this ####.
I went RB heavy (3 of first 4 picks) and got what most people think is a top 5 QB.  They said I'm weak at QB and RB and the one RB they do like is the one I think is the biggest bust potential.  The strength of the team is WR and the one rookie TE I took.

Overall I was middle of the pack with a B+.  I think I'll skew closer to the end.

Clearly the Rate my Team was not prepared to encounter the good ol' RB-TE-RB-TE strategy.

That's ok, got a C- on a Y! one last year and won the league. :coffee:

Yep. Always used to get Cs on mine, or a "you have a 25 percent chance of making the playoffs with good management," and I've done quite well over the years, thank you very much, Mr. Algorithm.

That's funny and yet very serious. I wouldn't know how to do a full redraft IDP, but it would be a learning experience, for sure. If you can get the old gang back together, I might dance. Actually, count that as a yes if you did it and you really needed guys.

I've identified the devil on my shoulder.

edit - I'll got to twitter and review what I briefly read. All I recall is the guy in Europe who took over my duties saying basically "ok then, sad we can't keep it going." If a half dozen or more were in, I can fill pretty quick. I still have almost 800 twitter followers and haven't tweeted since Oct. 5th 2015.

Also @rockaction the rules necessitated and MFL site. So there was a modest fee. $25 bucks or so. Winner take all after covering the cost of the site. Ruds crushed me in the semis the last season I played while on his way to the payoff.

@Corporation strikes me as the type who might do something this fun and stupid.

From what I can tell Goid is dead and buried. No FBG staffers involved for a couple years, I think. The commish sent out announcements early summer and didn't get far. He then got queried by someone who's been in it going way back, and the commish said, yeah, I can't, too busy. I sent him a message asking him to give it back.

Also, when Sigmund and Jene helped me tweak the rules to ultimate levels, it was renamed - GoidonRoids. I forgot that until just seeing it.

ruh roh.... this was August 5th tweet....

Looks like they were missing 5, AND Bloom and Ruds still playing, and some of those other names are, i guess what we now call ff influencers. Guys that make a living off fantasy football. The commish quit, but those on that draft board make this a cinch to fill, and maybe get rolling in a couple days. The draft takes a couple weeks at a decent pace.

Well you are right 😂 I’m in a serious football league with some other guys here but let me know if you get close to full.
